Question Help me understand
If you’re a fan of Minecraft could you tell me why you love it so much? It’s so popular but i genuinely don’t get the appeal it looks really boring🥲. I keep the stream up and do something else when case plays it.

To me, it's like playing with Legos but with so much more freedom. I love to build but never liked Legos growing up, Minecraft is the next best thing for me and I love it.
I only play in creative mode so it's nice to just build what you wish. ♡

Explaining it as virtual Legos makes so much sense now THANK YOU!!

No problem at all! ♡ there is creative mode and survival mode! Lots of people love survival but not myself personally. You have to collect and build shelter to keep yourself safe from enemies like zombies!
You technically "lose" if you die in game. Then you have to go and gather all the materials you lost. The end is when you beat the ender dragon! And the the credits roll, so technically, you can win too!

yeah just try it out, and if its not for you, its not for you. i suggest doing what you think is fun when you play it.

So there’s creative mode and what else? Do other modes have objectives where you can win or lose?

Yes! There's a hardcore node and people speed run beating the bosses. That's a whole thing on its own! People make forever worlds, some try to create utopias. You can play survivor mode on multiple levels. I'm 45 and have been avoiding it since it came out because I knew I'd fall head deep into it! I started playing about a month ago, and I was right to put it off, it's literally all I think about 😂 like currently I'm trying to create an egrarian society and see how far I can populate my area! I've made working villages, automated farms, i have an entire industrial estate! And I'm playing the most basic, vanilla, version! There are 1000s of add ons and mods that are either like new games or there's packs for new items and textures for building. And they keep making new stuff for it and updating it. It isn't a static game!

There's survival mode with limited resources and hunger, and hardcore which is survival but you have only one life and respawn. The objectives are whatever you want them to be. There's bosses to beat, biomes and dimensions to explore, achievements to get and stuff to build. There's also redstone which acts as the game's wiring system, people literally built actual computers in Minecraft using it (not joking). The world is limitless and it's up to players to do what they want

theres objectives if you want to do them, but your not forced to do anything lol, you can just make a farm and live on the land, or build a dirt mansion if you so please LOL

Sandbox games are more fun to play than to watch most times. Might not be for everyone but there is thousands of mods for it to match anyone's tastes.

It’s relaxing to just start a new world, build a house, a farm, a stable, collect animals, etc… and if you get bored, go mining or enter the nether. Minecraft is one of a kind.

The world is different every time, unlimited gameplay, unlimited creativity, unlimited exploration. I love that you can add different textures to make the game prettier or cooler looking. You can also play with friends or play online but I’ve been doing solo lately. And there’s also that hint of scariness in the base game, just enough to mess with you lol.

What is scary in the base game? 😂

u/playwhaat 3d ago
Monsters, jump scares, creepy noises. Just because it doesn’t get you doesn’t mean it doesn’t scare others.

okay im very sorry that im an adult man that didn't think anyone but kids would find a kids game scary.

Respectfully, what is scary is completely subjective and I wouldn't be saying all that without having experienced a silent cave mining session and then getting hit with one of the eerie cave sounds.
I'm older than you so you can't pull the "I'm a grown man so only kids can be scared!" card on me.

The experience is much better when playing it yourself rather than watching others play. Try playing the game and you'll probably understand why it's popular.

The comments make me think it’s something I might actually like if I tried it. I think it’s the watching other people play it that doesn’t for me.

i mean, the appeal is just quite literally "Do whatever you want" its a sandbox game, there is no right or wrong way to play it.

Is it gonna sound cruel but I mean it in the nicest way most of the people who don’t like Minecraft lack the creativity to play it
Because there’s a ton you can do in Minecraft. You just have to be able to make up the adventure in your head. It’s similar to when you pick up a stick as a kid to on creative people. It’s just a stick but to a kid it could be 1 million things, a gun, a sword, a sword gun, etc.
And this isn’t an insult I’m not trying to insult you
And also vanilla Minecraft is where that part comes in, but if you want the more easy access to adventure, then that’s where the mods come in recently he’s been playing from the fog, which is where you can unlock the scary Minecraft experience but if you want a more MMORPG style that’s where RL craft will come in
And if you just want free room experience where you just do tasks, but also wanna fight more bosses than what’s in the base game there’s plenty of mods for that. If you want a tycoon experience, there’s sky factory sky block.
There’s a lot of things you can do and that’s just for solo
If you can get your friends to play, there is so much more possibilities

I didn’t take this wrong at all it makes complete sense to me. I appreciate your explanation you all are helping me better understand the game because I was completely lost.

I love the ability to do whatever I want in a game. I love the feeling of having a fresh start and creating whatever comes to mind!

It’s more of a millennial thing. Many of us grew up playing Minecraft. Minecraft is a survival game where you can craft many things, farm, and kill monsters with the end game goal of finding and killing the enderdragon. And you can build many things. I don’t see the appeal of Roblox but I understand why people do. It’s like VRChat but with games involved. Minecraft has maps where you can play games too, like platforms and such. Minecraft is basically the predecessor for Roblox.

Creativity, freedom to shape the world in the way you want to, seeing other people’s creativity etc
