University of Kent Uni Kent Student Housing
I‘m considering moving to Canterbury to study CS Postgrad at Uni Kent. I am looking through accommodation options and wondering where I should stay. On campus seems nice but is more expensive than e.g. Cloud Student Homes (Kentish House or Behn Hall).
Any experiences or recommendations?

Old video of Canterbury, where's this staircase?
I've been trying to work out where this staircase is/was in Canterbury; the video is from 1936 so before the raids that damaged the city so much. I assume it's Greyfriars but perhaps I'm wrong?
https://youtu.be/dZfol2dFcQM?t=35
Also any ideas on the statue at the bottom of the stairs? Was it lost?

Canterbury Walking Club
I recently started to walk for fitness and am trying to get my steps up to 10k a day for health reasons. I am looking to form a group on StepUp which is a free to download and use app on the App Store for iPhone or Google play.
If you are interested in joining a virtual walking group that is not restricted to one specific smart watch this is your group. You’ll need to download the app and connect it to Apple Health or equivalent on Android phones. Then you can connect your smartwatch to Apple Health or Health app and your steps will show up in StepUp. After downloading and setting up, click on the link below which takes you directly to the group to join.
Looking forwards to other people joining the club and having some healthy competition.
Join the "Canterbury Walking Club" group on StepUp, a fun step challenge app.

Getting hired for a job in Canterbury is really difficult
As someone trying to find a job (part-time or full-time) in Canterbury, it has been extremely difficult, cause majority of the jobs I apply to keep rejecting my application, and I'm honestly not even sure what is wrong..I thought it might be something to do with my CV, so I changed it several times and still I'm getting rejected.. I'm honestly not sure what to do atp. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Affordable grief counselling?
Hi,
My partner passed away recently and I’ve been encouraged to look into some sort of therapy, but the only ones I’ve been able to find in the area are monthly group sessions (which I don’t feel very comfortable with due to some of the specifics of my situation) or over-the-phone sessions that are capped at four sessions. I am looking for something more long-term and private but I am struggling to find anything nearby that deals in particular with grief and is also relatively affordable/accessible.
Any recommendations? Thanks.

Bank app scam warning when I tried to pay for an airport taxi service
I’m moving back home after doing my masters at Kent and I wanted to book a taxi since the whole transit with suitcases ends up being a headache for me. This company seems to have good reviews and they all seem real but their images are all AI generated, which sadly I didn’t flag before I filled the webform.
Anyone else use this service? It’s relatively cheap, 165 for the Heathrow trip but I don’t know if I’m actually being scammed lol. Any help would be appreciated!!

Where is good for people in their early 40's to go for a drink and a dance on a Thursday?
I know it's a very studenty city! I've found a few places that would be good for a cocktail or two, but is there anywhere that plays more old school music for millennials to have a dance??
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Rain and non-draining drains
After all the rain yesterday it was great to see the council had been around in the summer preparing by clearing drains ready for the winter weather. Or wait, no they hadn't! I think the lake that forms by Sainsburys in St Dunstans is practically a feature of the city now isn't it?
