Ruger announced a major change to several of its longtime product lines this week, stating that it would immediately suspend production of several models while finishing out current production runs of other models through 2026.

"Ruger announced changes to several current-generation product families yesterday as part of our ongoing Ruger 2030 strategy," said Abbey Clary, Ruger's director of media, advertising and public relations. "This does not necessarily mean these product families are permanently discontinued."

Effective immediately, Ruger is ceasing production of its LCR, SP101, GP100 and Bearcat revolvers. The company plans to complete its final production runs of the following models for 2026: SR1911, LC Carbine, PC Charger, PC Carbine, LC Charger, Redhawk, Super Redhawk, Blackhawk, Super Blackhawk, Single-Series revolvers, Vaquero, No. 1, 77-Series rifles, Hawkeye and Ruger Precision Rifle.

"We recognize how important these platforms are to Ruger’s heritage and to our customers," Clary said. "In many cases, we see opportunities to bring them forward through new designs, improved features and modern manufacturing methods. We expect some of these names and product families to return in new forms in the future, but do not have specific product plans or reintroduction timelines at this time."

With this shift, Ruger's handgun product lines continuing into 2027 will consist of the company's LCP offerings, RXM, MAX-9, Security-380, Security-9, Ruger 5.7, Mark IV and 22 Charger. In its revolver line, Ruger will continue making its affordable Wrangler and Super Wrangler models. For rifles, remaining Ruger offerings will consist of the company's American Rifle and American Rimfire line, as well as the Ruger Precision Rimfire, Harrier, 10/22 and Mini-14 models.

"These decisions reflect our review of consumer demand, evolving market preferences, manufacturing complexity and the long-term profitability of each product family," Clary said. "The goal is to focus our resources on the products consumers want most today while creating capacity for future product development and manufacturing modernization."

I've been saving up for the backland hunter pro without checking any reviews or opinions about it. I really like the look of it and I deserve a treat like the boss says.

A buddy gave me a wake-up call and told me about the issues. Sadly he's right and from what I see crusader isn't acting properly either to fix the situation.

Anyhow, the next wishlist is the Henry Lever Action Supreme (in 556). Sadly no gun store near me has it in stock and I hate buying guns without touching them before ( tis the tism). So please give me any positive or negative opinions you have on it.

I had previously posted about having grouping issues at 25 yards. Well after getting my hands on a stock 1022 barrel, I have solved the problem. The barrel was bad. I do not know exactly what is wrong with the barrel, but it is going back for warranty just thought I’d give an update since I got a lot of responses.

Been on the hunt for an SKS French Tickler for a while. I bought one last year, but ended up selling it to fund an ATV purchase. I’ve regretted it ever since.

Found a Tickler on GP for a really good price, still covered in cosmoline. I only realized it was a M21 while cleaning it. What a great surprise, especially after seeing one sell for over $1,200 just a couple of days ago.

Ordered a Helikon Reece Chest Rig in Multicam from On Duty Equipment on Sept 29.

Timeline so far:
- Sept 30: Crystal confirmed the order was received, but said it was out of stock and would need to come from their European supplier.
- Oct 2: Said there was still no confirmed delivery date, and I'd get an automated email once it was on its way to their shop.
- Oct 8: I emailed asking if it had actually been ordered from Europe and where it stands. No reply.
- Oct 15: Sent a fresh follow-up as a new email in case the old thread got lost. Got a reply 19 seconds later saying they couldn't locate an order history for the email on that thread, asking for verification details. I sent those. Still waiting on a substantive human follow-up as of this morning.

Not calling it a scam, just frustrated at the silence and the lack of a clear answer on whether the rig has actually been ordered. It states on their website I will be informed when they order it from their supplier.

Has anyone else ordered from On Duty recently and had a similar wait / communication gap? Any tips for getting a real status update?

Recently found out I’d be getting my fathers rifles he no longer wants I was just wondering if anyone knows I’ve gotten conflicting answers online and when checking the firearms table for the buyback they don’t say anything about the Remington 597 vtr but it looks like a AR so I’m assuming it’s banned just simply because of that I have no clue though.

First time shooting my Cadex Covert 6.5 CM 16.5”. What a beauty this rifle is. Super smooth trigger pull and less recoil then i was expecting. Its my first bolt action so a shout out to the guys that were with me that day at EOSC to help me bore sight it at 50yrds first before going at 100. Made my whole experience wayyy better.

So like many of you that didn't order through RDSC who are still waiting on their orders, I am was hopeful of getting my order and disappointed by the constant delays and time line being pushed back again and again.

But after today I was thinking, RDSC was the first to receive their order got a few hundred guns and they pre paid allegedly. That means between March or April and end of September Brigade managed the manufacture a few hundred MK-15's..... this realization has killed any hope that they are going to fill orders any time this year. If it took them almost 6 months to make a few hundred its going to take another year or so to make the what I'm assuming was thousands of pre orders.

Seriously considering just refunding my order if I don't get any update from bullseye in the next couple businesses days . Getting beyond annoying having to email them, getting a ETA, We go well beyond the ETA and it's crickets from them, have to email them again and get told that there's another delay. Then it's rinse and repeat.

The screw won't come undone at all. The anchor on the right side just spins freely. Is there anyway to get this removed?

Thinking of buying a bolt gun to help shoot my bulk surplus I have for my sks. Heard they may have feeding, extracting, and light strike issues, which is too bad because apparently it's pretty accurate and has a great factory trigger.

I have always understood that Beretta enforces minimum advertised price rules for its vendors. Is that the case in Canada? I am looking to buy a break-action shotgun that is quite expensive, and from what I understand, apparently stores are willing to offer up to a 10% discount?

Is that common in Canada?

A gun store employee at a club I'm at mentioned there might be some wiggle room on Beretta products, but when I called a couple of the bigger stores in Toronto, they told me the online price is identical to the in-store price.

I have an old Winchester that was my great grandpas I was told. I took it to a guy to clean it up and make it into a nice wall hanger. Unfortunately he passed the day after he took it apart. I am in Saskatchewan and am hoping someone might now someone that I can chat with about it to get it back together and looking good enough to hang. Unfortunately it is very rusty and pitted, my father hid it and couldn’t find it for years, so I would need it cleaned up. I would do it but I don’t want to mess it up.

So...non-Canadian here with love for bolt-action and straight-pull AR-style firearms.

I saw a video on the Taipan X that is both a pump action and straight pull, and for those who own one (or their derivatives) can it be converted to just straight pull? In other words, can the pump action bit be removed, and still have it functional?

For whatever odd reason, the Taipan X can be had where I live, but other straight pull ARs cannot.

Too bad Canik doesn't care about our market, in my opinion they make some of the best out of the box factory triggers for handguns, and overall solid units. Would totally entertain getting some sort of weird Turkish rifle and or shotgun made for the Canadian market if made by Canik, like the other Turkish manufactures do.

Got this today. Right out of the box it has a sticky firing pin, which makes it EXTREMELY hard to open up after pressing the trigger (dry fired a couple times and also used snap caps to see if it made a difference, it didn't)

Also, when I tried to disassemble it to get inside the reciever, the hinge screw that holds the barrel in place is impossible to remove. Anchor on the other end just spins with it. Tried a bunch of methods online to try and loosen the screw, but none work. Later learned that the barrel hinge anchor is apparently supposed to be secured in place, so something is obviously around since it spins with the screw side

I know this gun is el cheapo garbage and I shouldn't expect much, but is there anyway to fix this issue, or am I better off just contacting warranty since these issues are from day-of acquiring?

Here is a recently arrived OIC 12(3) Converted-Automatic AK-47 Type 3 (Milled Receiver) from Switzer's Auctions. It took only 2 weeks for the Registration Transfer - a new personal record, especially for 12(3) which are normally subject to a lab recall for inspection. In any case, it is a nice example from the mid-late 1950s, with the much lighter-weight Stamped and Rivetted AKM (Modernized) model first appearing in 1958 and quickly replacing the machining-heavy milled Receiver models (Type 2 and 3).
