Season Three SE E1 Anne - Time Thought
Random musing on a rewatch...
In season three episode one, Buffy enters another dimension where 100 years would be one day on earth. If Buffy had spent just one hour in that dimension, 4 years and 2 months would have passed on earth. One minute would have been 25 days. Assuming she was only away from home over school break, she must have entered that dimension after just a few days and only spent 2 or 3 minutes down there for it to make sense time wise π
ETA I am dumb and worked it out backwards! Thank you to everyone for pointing it out.

u/pletion has the right of it.
Remember the kids from the diner who disappeared and reappeared the next day, much older? That's because time moves faster in the other dimension, not the other way around.
The minutes or hours Buffy spent in the other dimension would have been only seconds on Earth.
Which means she actually spent a whole summer living as Anne in LA.

You set it up right, (100 years there = 1 day here) but switched it in the description.
Ricky aged 80 years in the hell dimension in a few earth days.
Buffy spent less than a day in there, so was only gone from our dimension for a couple of minutes.

Your math is backwards. If 100 years there is one day here, then the few hours she seems to have spent there would be minutes if not seconds here. She came back out of the portal almost immediately after going in.

You're not dumb, just made a mistake.
And the ability to admit said mistake? Miles more worthy.

If what Ken says is accurate and 1 day passes in the real world for every 100 years in his hell dimension, then Buffy would reappear in the real world like a second after she went in even if she spent hours in there.

You have backwards. If it took an hour to get out of the portal, she still only ages an hour, but was missing from the real world less than a minute.

Exactly, very short term, basically as long as it took for us to watch it. If someone had been in the cleansing room watching, it would almost look like they came back before they left.

I've questioned this too π€ but I can't bring myself to allow to be real ππ

Except, they are. Their setup line is correct, but then they flip it during the explanation. Like talking about a football game where Denver lost 28 to 3, then start explaining how John Elway threw for 4 touchdowns.

As others have said, its the other way around.
But doesnt that mean that Buffy aged a few years while she was in the demon dimension?

I canβt remember the logic specifically in the episode but your logic doesnβt make sense. 1 day on earth = 100 years another dimension, so how can 1 minute in another dimension = 25 days on earth? I think you might have it backwards
