Turista Ajánlás | Tourist Recommendation New Year’s Accommodation Cancelled - recommendations/any other solo travellers?

Hi there! I’m travelling to Budapest for NYs and had my accommodation booked 7 months in advance, but they’ve just announced they’re closing 😭 Just wondering if there’s either a way to connect with other travellers in Budapest to potentially split an AirBnb, or seeing that it’s going to cost me a bomb now anyway, if anyone has any good recommendations for hostels for New Years on shorter notice! I have already tried NomadTable and had no luck yet, and for reference I’m wanting to stay from 30th-2nd Jan!

If you spent 2 seconds to read any of the previous posts, you would quickly realize that Budapest is not the ideal NYE destination unless you have friends or family here.

First off, locals celebrate with friends and family. Therefore, the only people going out to clubs are tourists.

Secondly, there is no official fireworks display and downtown turns into a drunk cesspool. Thankfully, the city got smarter and restricted where people can set off their own fireworks, but still not the best destination for NYE.

For a hostel, just look at HostelWorld or Booking and see which one you like.

Thanks for your reply! But don’t worry, everyone has different ideas of what makes a good NYE, and I’m happy with the choice I made! Will have a deeper look into HostelWorld though, many thanks!

According to your post, you cannot even afford to rent an Airbnb on your own.

Just a fair warning that Budapest has not been cheap for many years:

Downtown drinking will be very expensive if you plan to do so.

I think there’s a slight difference between not being able to afford something and just not wanting to spend a fortune on accommodation! That link is really interesting to look at though, thanks!
