I'm really wondering if the Rays are kind of hinting at a return to being the Devil Rays. First, they brought back the old road unis as, which seem to be, their permanent road set. Then, they bust out the throwback Devil Rays home uniforms in Game 2 last night. It's time to go back to the original identity. Hopefully they are.

I hope they do it. Not just cos it’s cool as hell, but because the backlash from the insanely large subset of our country that believes literal demons exist and interact with humans will be funny

Don't think that's going to happen. I looked up why they dropped "devil" because I didn't remember it being pressure to drop it or some religious or goofy reason. Seems they dropped the "Devil" as rebrand and to shift away from it's losing history. Like dropping the "devil" meant dropping the bad seasons..

And I mean... it's worked just about as well as they could have hoped for outside of winning it all. They're consistently good and make the playoffs a lot and made two world series since then? They went to the world series immediately after the change.

I thought the change was dumb back then but they went for it and it's worked out very well. Why would you want to go back to what they were? lol
