Indoor Is there a resource that links techniques to board climbs?

In my quest for improvement I have been watching many videos about climbing techniques. Unfortunately I always go into the gym ready to try out what I learned (lets say a drop knee technique), but cant find many places where I can practice it in a meaningful way.

Is there a resource where I can filter for something like drop knees and see a bunch of moonboard/kilterboard/whateverboard climbs with drop knee moves? This would be nice to have for more focused practice sessions. I know I can just make up my own moves, but that feels way less interesting than a move on an actual climb someone has set.

I assume the answer is no, but I am holding out hope.

Advice/Beta Request Staying sane when you can’t climb

What hobbies and sports might scratch the itch for climbing when you’re unable to climb?

I had a nasty climbing accident a while ago and have been told I won’t climb again (Paraclimbing is out as the risk of climbing is too great sadly). I can use my legs, but cannot run, and have limited arm strength particularly on one side where I have very little use of one hand. I have always loved adventure sports, the feeling of the sun on your face as you’re high up in the mountains, and just being in nature. Looking for ideas of things that I could try and would love to hear from other peoples experiences of things that help give the same joy as climbing, which used to be what my life revolved around.

Ideally looking for an adventure sport because I’m too hyperactive for my own good! Thanks in advance for any recommendations 💛

This little beauty is kind of a snapshot of being a developer and husband, father and veterinarian. I'll explain. I first saw this boulder on a hike with my wife. I sort of disguise my developer brain with, "let's hike on these trails," and unspoken for today was: I'm trying to find ungated roads to some boulders I found. Once I figured that was a bust I started scanning for boulders and as a result my wife would patiently wait as I ran off trail into the woods. I had done that about 5x, and she was losing patience. So, when I saw this one, I logged it in my brain to come back one day. That was yesterday. First crux was time. Sun rises at 7am and pick up time for kids at school is 2:30. I debated 3/4 of a mile extra walk or bring the chainsaw and clear an old fire road for 200 yards. Investing in the future I opted to clear the trail. Took about an hour. Then 2/3 of a mile approach with 500' vertical. Built a landing, scrubbed moss, worked on TR, then did it. Home with just enough time to get a shower, unload car and carpool.

The name comes from a test run in my job to see if there's infection and determine the proper antibiotic. My youngest thought the boulder looked like an agar plate to grow the bacteria for the test. Also it sounds like an attempt at a political statement and that irony made me smile.

Lastly, three harder problems, two of which are stunning lines. So HMU if you're into it.

Advice/Beta Request Juggy hang help

(Edit: I meant slopey)

I’ve been having trouble finishing this climb. I’ve seen a few betas but I’m not strong enough to just hold on while standing on the lower jib, and have been given this bicycle beta by a lot of other climbers in the gym.

Unfortunately as soon as I get to the penultimate position, as you can see in the video, I stall and can’t move my left hand without falling. This climb was better than most in that I took a majority of weight off the left, but couldn’t fully get to the finish.

I know that I need to get my body more to the right because of the finish’s angle, but have no idea how to do this. My hips are hanging, I would be pulling away from the hold, I know. But how can I move higher and to the right?? I don’t like blaming climbs on my body shape but it feels like I’m so tall and my arms are so long (6’4” wingspan on 6’2” frame) that I just hang slack without being able to pull myself taut. I’m sure I’m missing something obvious and I’d really love to know how I can change this??

(Please don’t suggest using the jib and just holding on, I’ve tried and don’t think I’m at all strong enough, I want to do the bicycle beta if at all possible)

This is a black in my local gym, which is the second highest level/grade range they offer! I think this is my 7th black since returning to climbing back in February.

Took 3 sessions of projecting, and I am very happy with the result! The wall is about 30-35 degrees btw.

Advice/Beta Request Any climbers delt with Dupyutrens Disease? Looking for tips or just support

Post image
116 Upvotes

This spring I noticed a nodule forming on my left palm, which was diagnosed last week as Dupyutrens. At this point I still have my full ROM, but experience some discomfort on jugs and certain slopers. I'm afraid of what will happen as the condition progresses, and frustrated with how little there is to do in the meantime. Haven't been able to find much about climbers with this condition and how it affects them.

Looking for any tips, tricks, or experiences this community might be able to share.

For automods: This is a specific question not answered in the FAQ and I have read the rules. There is literally nothing in the FAQ about chronic disease.

Edit to add: Wow thank you for the responses! I had never heard of this until last week and it's nice to know its not so uncommon.

For added context, I'm 38M and do have a predilection outdoors for slappy compression climbing ... which maybe there is some relation even if it's not studied.

Outdoor Lost wallet in The Nooks, Ontario, CA

Hi everyone, I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this.

I just came back from the Nooks outdoor bouldering at Ontario, Canada. I realized after coming home, which is many hours away, that I did not have my wallet.

I can see on Find My that my wallet was last located at the entrance to Gold Mines bouldering, but I am thinking that a more likely right in front of a V6/7 boulder called State of the Art. I was climbing till dark and I am guessing I forgot to take out my wallet from my bag, and it could've fallen there.

I was also camping in crown land near the boulders. I can send the coordinates if you DM me and plan on going there.

The place is way to far for me to drive back to, so I am hoping someone who has plans on going could spend a bit of time looking for my wallet.

My wallet is a brown Fossil leather wallet and has a picture on the right side when you open the wallet.

Advice/Beta Request Beta suggestions

Sorry for the sound, phone is screwed. Was looking for possible beta suggestions. I fell on the right crimp in the video due to how sharp it is/the foot slip but don’t have much trouble with it in isolation. As for the last move, the only way I’ve seen it done is through a campus but am trying to figure out an alternative.
