Your critiques of Sanderson books not sticking with you is one I hear a lot. And although I can definitely see where you're coming from with some of the more niche standalones, I don't think I agree with you on the Stormlight Archive.
I loved The Way of Kings and it's not a book I don't think I'll ever forget! But it just might be that the writing style just didn't gel with you, especially if you stopped at Words of Radiance (which is a lot of people's favorite Sanderson book).
Anyway, I'm glad you were able to give Sanderson's books a genuine chance and hope you find another author that genuinely speaks to you! Based on what you mentioned in the video, you might like Joe Abercrombie's books as his novels tend to feature really deep and nuanced characters. George R.R. Martin might also be up your alley.
I’m with you. I chose to listen to way of kings in my last half marathon. Specifically the scene where kaladin first says the words and saves Dalinar. Incredibly powerful.
Book two “honor is dead. But I’ll see what I can do” rocked me to my core.
There are Moments in these books that literally changed who I was as a person.
But I can see how it depends what you’re going through if they resonate with you or not.
