Hey everyone! Never posted on this sub, but desperate after receiving a used book with the spine not attached to the cover.
Bought it online, and it wasn't stated so im unsure if this happened during shipping, or that the seller wasn't aware. No matter what, im now desperate to know if this is fixable or not as these covers aren't in print anymore
Im gonna contact the seller about this as well and ill be keeping it no matter what but im sad about it.

I have a hardcover art book, and some of the pages seem to be coming loose. Is it possible to repair it?

Bought the book online and it came damaged.
Is it possible to glue it back together?
The spine is still stable, all pages still in place, it's just the outer cover that's loose.
I know i can't do anything about the crumbled corner but maybe I can save the cover?
Can I just use some glue for books and press it in place?

Greetings! Recently I acquired a bunch of old/second (might be even third or fourth) hand books from a yard sale. Most of them are in good condition but some of them are falling apart. And a few of them have their covers faded entirely.
Can someone suggest how I can restore the covers so I can atleast identify the book? Can I use just about any paper for it or do I have to look for specific type of papers.
Apologies of this is a silly question, thank you for your time.

I'm mostly worried about the second one. Also all three books look normal despite these.

I just found this out and I genuinely feel like I've been getting robbed.
You know those materials you have to keep buying, like greyboard, chipboard, bookcloth, morrocon paper, ribbons, etc? PLEASE try looking in wholesale markets before ordering online.
I just got 10 sheets of 10 × 15 inch 1.5 mm greyboard, for literally $2. YES. TEN SHEETS.
Meanwhile, online, I was getting FIVE A5 sheets for around 500 PKR ($2). 💀
My friend got bookcloth from a wholesale market for around 300 PKR 1$, depending on the type. Like, WHAT THE HELL.
I don't know if this is just a Pakistan thing or if it's the same everywhere, but the price difference is INSANE. I genuinely wasn't expecting this much of a difference.
I'm actually thinking of starting to make my own bookbinding kits now because if I can source the materials at these prices, why not? Beginner bookbinders shouldn't have to spend a fortune just to get started with a hobby.
Anyway, fellow beginner bookbinders, explore your local wholesale markets before spending all your money online. Especially on materials you'll need to restock constantly.

I don't have the knowledge or funds for a proper restoration and I didn't want to see this thrown away. The cover is barley holding the pages in. Thanks for any help!

Edit: added body of lounged post here as well
“So as Christmas is once again upon us, I would like to do something special for my husband as we have had a hard year. In his childhood he received a gift book that wasn’t in the best condition and through use, got much worse. He tried to repair what he could but, of course he was a child and knew nothing about bookbinding. That being said, I would really like to rebind the book. I don’t have much experience with anything other than case binding, but I’m pretty confident I could pick up any other required skills with practice and persistence.
Anyone have any idea on how to even begin rebinding this monster of a mess?”
Any advice would be very welcome

I bought these two books, which includes a special edition of Anton Chekovs book "about love", and now that I've returned home I've discovered these ugly DR labels on the back of both books. The labels are stuck very hard, but the worst is the Chekov book. Since that one is more texturised and raw paper I'm scared of damaging the cover if I try to remove it.
The books were both purchased in a book shop on vacation in a different country, so it's not exactly an option to go back and ask them for help...
Does anyone have experience with removing DR labels from book covers like these?

I have inherited a bunch of classics from my grandpa. Most of them are in good condition, but there are couple from same publishing that have orange/brown marks on pages and covers.
It looks like foxing but I'm not sure because one of the books also has a black mark that looks like mold (last photo).
I'm afraid if all the other books might develop mold. Is there a way to fix this?
Appreciate all the help!
Cheers

As you can see, my book is damaged. I guess that's what you get when you use it as a weapon. Any tips, never repaired a book before lol

Genuinely haven't read this series in years, but I've made sure to keep them properly stored. I only now realized that a chunk of the pages isn't glued to the book anymore. How exactly do I fix this? Is book glue enough? Never done book binding before.

I took out a book that I hadn't read for a long time and suddenly saw a very small worm, almost invisible, quickly walking to the edges of the book. I panicked and I didn't have time to take a picture because it disappeared from my sight somewhere. The book doesn't seem to be damaged at all, though. And my room's humidity is not too high (Maybe I had it 60 or 70 once weeks ago when it was raining outside, but now it's showing 49-53) Should I worry? I need someone's advice.
I admit that I used to be able to not clean my room from dust for a long time because of my depression. Now I try to clean regularly, but I feel guilty, if I caused it by ignoring dust on the shelves for years back then (I usually managed to clean the room twice a year).
I've heard about the freezing method, but my fridge isn't that big and there's no space for that so I don't know.
