Screenshot Look, I’m going to level with you all. I am scared. Bloodborne scares me. The beasts scare me. And that man in the chair really scares me

I just want to put this one down as another character forming experience and go home.

Discussion I get it now.

Hi everyone. First time in the sub, I just wanted to share my experience with Bloodborne.

I've started a new game many times. I've created a character, chosen a weapon, and defeated the first werewolf, and then given up. The big dude with the axe was always a problem, and the regular villagers with pitchforks always felt unfair. I would try and fail, and then inevitably put the game up and go back to playing Doom or something. The disc has sat on my shelf since, staring at me, telling me I can't do it.

Three days ago, something compelled me to put it back in the PS4 and try again. And my eyes are open now.

Up until yesterday, I had never even seen the Cleric Beast. This time I've spent playing it though, I tried to open up my heart and mind, and figure out what Bloodborne was asking of me. This morning I beat Father Gascoigne, and I'm working through Old Yarnham now. Something finally clicked, and I've figured out how to play the game. It's still kicking my ass, sure, but I'm slowly gaining the ability to kick ass right back. I've been spending blood echoes, leveling up, figuring out my fighting style, and I even found a safe place for the old woman surrounded by dogs.

Everything about Bloodborne is wonderful, the art direction, the world building, the monster design, just everything is magical. I'm so excited to see what the rest of the game holds, and I will conquer it.

Question Looking for gift ideas for a fan.

My boyfriend loves this game.
I’ve watched him play a bit of it and it seems like an awesome game but I know nothing about it.

I’m looking for a birthday gift for him.

He already has a hunters cosplay hat, the jacket, replica weapons, art books.

What else is there?

Discussion Made it to the late game. Found bloodstone Rock. Should I upgrade a 2nd weapon or just roll with the Axe?

First play through. Ps5. Got my first bloodstone rock. I’m inclined to upgrade my axe since that’s the only weapon I’ve used but should I also upgrade another weapon with all the twin and chunks I got? Which weapon is recommended?

Vitality and strength build. Both over 40.

Discussion Hot take

With the right build, the rifle spear is really good. It's transformed attacks have good sweeping moves, decent damage and still allows you to have a gun, not to mention the charge attack has great range and great damage. The untransformed has really good thrusting so it 's really good against kin type enemies. The damage with the gun also scales decently with bloodtinge. When it comes to underrated weapons a lot of people say, the boom hammer or the threaded cane, which both are great. But this one goes unnoticed the most.

Question If I already have Beast's Embrace, is the Beast rune no longer necessary? Or what purpose does it serve?

Help Blood Starved Beast tips?

I'm on my like 7th try rn and I feel like I'm going insane. I can consistently get to the second stage where he (she?) starts poisoning you. Usually one missed dodge is enough to get me stuck against the wall and stun locked. I've seen online that you can kind of cheese the fight with the potent blood potions, but I want to avoid any cheese or summons for my first playthrough. Any and all tips would be greatly appreciated!

If anyone is curious I'm using the saw cleaver at +3, and a few attempts I thought would win I used fire paper. But I only have 2 left and want to use them only if it looks like it will be a successful attempt.

Discussion To play blind or not to play blind - that is the question

I just finished Bloodborne after 140h including DLC, all chalices and way too much chunk farming. It was my 3rd soulsgame after ER and DeS. Needed a guide a lot in ER, then used less in DeS. I played BB mostly blind and it messed up end game. I thought chalices were endgame stuff. I was lv115 when I started chalices and DLC. Finished at lv200.

I didn't die as much as in ER/DeS or at least rarely lost the echoes for good. I just kept levelling because I had no idea how much there is left to play and what would be an appropriate level so that it is challenging but doable. I know the DLC would've been HARD if i had played that at 100 or so.

Besides being overlevelled what bothers me more and more is that NPC quests seem impossible to complete playing blind. In all games I felt like for one NPC it was clear what I have to do next. Another one I progressed/completed just by coincidence. And the rest was completely unclear (if i didnt look it up). Then again if I have to look up what to do i might as well just read their stories. And then the game is reduced to fighting.

I don't have the time for another playthrough so I wonder how to approach the DS series with little guidance but avoiding messing up a big chunk of the game. Looking forward to your thoughts and experiences. Thank you!

Lore The healing the church doesn’t really act like a traditional religious organisation

The Healing Church in Bloodborne acts more like a government organisation (like the Umbrella Corporation, but with a Christian coat of paint) than a religious organisation. It doesn’t really seem to have any religious beliefs about things like the afterlife, nor does it worship any god in the traditional religious sense. Instead, it seems more interested in studying them.
