I recently started r/HowDoISayThis, a community for those conversations where you know what you want to say, but you’re not quite sure how to say it.

The idea is simple: describe the situation and the conversation you’re putting off, and other people can help you find the right words to start it.

It could be anything from:

• asking a noisy neighbor to keep it down
• bringing up an awkward issue with a roommate
• setting a boundary with a friend or family member
• raising something uncomfortable at work
• sending a text you’ve rewritten ten times and still haven’t sent

The focus is less on telling people what they should do and more on helping them work out what they could actually say.

It’s still very new, so I’m trying to build up some useful discussions and get the first members involved.
