Big Bear autumn / fall leaves and foliage right now? 🍂🍁

Post image
61 Upvotes

I'm OBSESSED with big bear... it stole my heart years ago and I'm yearning to come back!🥰--and once in October 2022 I came out there when it was BURSTING with beautiful yellow and oranges leaves.🍂🍁 (attached photo!)

I'm considering coming out next weekend, Oct 23-25ish. For ya'll who live there now, what is your report on fall foliage right now? Do you think it will hold out until next weekend when i want to come out? I did see this other post from a couple weeks ago where one person said the leaves were good right now and, "get up here asap because it won't last long." - so considering that was almost 2 weeks ago, I'm worried by next weekend it may not be anymore?

Driving up with Santa Ana winds

My wife and I are going up to big bear for the weekend. We’ll be getting up there later Friday afternoon. Just curious about the winds while driving up there. Is it safe to drive up there during the winds? Will they close roads down if it’s get too unsafe?

We’re going to be coming up the 330/18 if that helps

Easiest off roading trails to get to dispersed camping sites?

I have a Jeep Wrangler with a rooftop tent and recently traveled through Blue Quartz Trail. It was very rocky, and although OnX Offroad rated it as an easy trail, I honestly didn’t find it easy at all. I’m a beginner. I’m looking for recommendations for trails that are mostly dirt rather than rocky, with access to dispersed camping spots. I’d love to find some routes where I can drive in, set up camp, and enjoy the outdoors without having to navigate a ton of rocks or difficult trails. I would love to find some easy yellow post sites to get to. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Big Bear - This Weekend

What’s up. I am headed to big bear this weekend for a bachelor party. We have a nice Airbnb house and are planning for Oktoberfest on Saturday.

Any recommendations or things to do while we are there?

TIA!

Be careful going up and down big bear today

There were lots of rocks and boulders on the road and there were multiple cars broken down on the way down ! A rock slide happened right in front of us while driving and the size of the Boulder was around 3 or 4 feet tall and wide and the rain and fog were very intense

How does Skiing in Big Bear Compare to the PNW? (Crystal Mountain, Mt. Bachelor, Whistler)

I learned to ski in the PNW and am looking to make a trip to big bear this year. I was wondering how the difficulty of ski runs compare at the Big Bear Mountain resorts vs somewhere like Crystal Mountain or Mt. Bachelor! Thanks!

The Coolest Oriental Houses - Only in Big Bear!

I believe I should have called these Asian or Chinese, instead. I can't edit the title, however, so apologies; the title references the tour guide's nomenclature. I was informed that the architecture was inspired by a woman's trip to China.Things that you only see in Big Bear! I was fortunate to be a recent visitor, enjoying a lake cruise out to the dam, and learned about these from Mike. So original!

Big Bear Revel Marathon

Has anyone ever run the Revel Big Bear Marathon? If so, how is it? Is there a lot of cheering and crowd support throughout? Is it a packed marathon or does it not have a lot of runners? Any information is appreciated!

best walk/hike in the area for tomorrow with babies?

hi! just got into town for a last min weekend trip with our 2 babies. i’d love to do a couple walk/hikes tomorrow with them in the carrier as one is just crawling and one is lurching around like a drunk sailor - ideally flat/easy, maybe one around the lake and one more foresty. i read alpine pedal path or woodland trail might work but would love a personal rec.

also if there are any nice grassy areas to crawl around that would be great to know too! thanks!

Is there a way to see what restaurants will be open on Thanksgiving?

Like for example do they post their hours on their social media accounts? Or on their websites? Or is there an online locals group besides this one that would know? I understand right now is probably too early but if there's anywhere I can bookmark to check back on or anything

We'll be up for Thanksgiving this year and don't care about actual Thanksgiving food, but we're gonna be at a hotel without means to cook and will need to feed ourselves on that day lol

I run deliveries throughout Big Bear year-round. I was eating my lunch next to DIY yesterday (Sunday Oct 4 2026) and this little fellow comes trotting by. I said "Hey buddy!" and got them to look right at me in time for a couple of shots. Sorry my camera isn't too good.

No matter what our problems are today, we're really lucky to live here, aren't we? ❤️

I finally booked a campsite for my fiancé and I! Any tips for a guy who wants to impress his lady despite it being both our first time?

Fiancé and I are going camping just the two of us for the first time. We’ve bought basically everything we need but as the date gets closer, I’m becoming more concerned that I might not be knowledgeable enough to ensure we both survive this lol.

I’ve practiced assembling our tent a couple times but I’m worried it doesn’t seem sturdy enough (granted I only assembled it in my living room)

Overall I’m worried I don’t know enough Do’s/don’ts about camping. We booked a campsite at Serrano Campground so that makes it a lot easier. But what are some tips to ensure our safety and the safety of other campers that might be nearby? Regardless of how obvious they may seem! Anything helps 🙏🏻

When are they predicting foliage this year?

I’m sick of the heat in LA and would love to take a break to experience some fall weather as the leaves are changing. I know it’s usually at the end of October/early November. Is it looking like around that time again this year?
