🎻 Opinion Need some legal advice.

Hi, my aunt passed away in March and my family are trying to sort out her affairs and her estate. We have a friend of the aunt who was helping us but things are getting a bit awkward/tense with her. I was hoping if someone could point me in the right direction of a financial advisor of sorts who speaks fluent English and French. We have a Notare but there seems to be a bit of a barrier between the family, my aunt's friend and the Notare.

Any advice is hugely appreciated. Thank you very much.

I asume that her will and inheritance need to be settled? If that’s the case I would see a lawyer to avoid making mistakes who will cost you your time, peace of mind and money

Who is the notary’s biggest customer? Is it the family notary, the aunt’s notary or the friends notary? It might help to have your own notary or lawyer go through the paperwork.

You have only a few month to send the "déclaration de succession". This is usually done by a notary. After that you have to pay penalties. Have you already signed a notary's document? I wouldn't consider involving a stranger to a family succession, surely not if it brings headachesÂ
