UserTesting experience
I've been a UserTesting member since 2021 & have completed over 200 tests. During that time, my experience has been fairly positive despite their less than ideal rating system (researchers hardly rate you, but they can give you a 1/2 out of 5 for nothing, which can in turn drastically affect the number of potential tests that are available to you).
They changed how payments work for live conversations over a year ago, so you would previously be paid in full if the researcher were to cancel or reschedule less than 24 hrs before the agreed time. Now, it is only $10 regardless.
Despite these changes & the site not being as good as it once was, I've stuck with it as it can be a good earner. However, since the beginning of 2026, it has taken a real downward turn - less tests, more live conversations, either being constantly rescheduled, sometimes only an hour or two before the interview, or others being cancelled for no reason at all. The worst thing above all has to be my account being falsely flagged for VPN/Adblock, etc usage that has effectively meant I haven't had a screener for a number of months. During that time, I have a back & forth discussion with support about the status of my account only to be greeted with vague responses. Over the past month, I have only used the mobile app while connected to mobile data to make sure any of their potential "flags" didn't come up, but it hasn't made any difference. This had led me to believe that my account has been soft banned and nothing will change.
Has anyone else had similar experiences or stopped using the site completely because of their own frustrations?
Edit - This post was removed from the UserTesting reddit, so that is telling in itself.
