Open to any suggestions. I have always just grown it out like this.

Like the title says. I genuinely spend 30 minutes trying to make it symmetrical and it never works out. My hair grows weird under my jaw (diagram also drawn out) so it’s so hard to get the sides to look symmetrical. It also doesn’t help that the corners stop growing at different parts of my face. Also my jaw is higher on one side than the other so I’m just cooked. Please help me guys. I have tried using a pen thing to drawn it before I shave but even when it looks symmetrical before it never ends up being that. It’s so stressful I need help!

So I went through a traumatic experience last year. Was home bound for 3-4 months and during that my beard became patchy and started shedding a ton of hair.

BUT now it looks like it’s growing back but I need a 2nd opinion if it’s really growing back.

I did go to a dermatologist and she said it’s stress induced alopecia. She said it can grow back in weeks months or even years. I thought she was just giving me false hope. But now it looks like it’s growing back but just wanna confirm if I’m coping or not .

Hi! Was growing my beard out for a while, got to a nice length and probably just needed to go to a barber. Got fed up with it and took a lot off. Cant tell if it looks better or worse.

I’m a 31-year-old male and have been dealing with progressive beard hair loss for approximately 3 years. I’m hoping someone here has experienced something similar or can offer some insight.
I used to have a much fuller, thicker beard, but over the years it has progressively thinned, particularly around my cheeks, sideburns, and jawline. It's gotten to a point where I don't even wear a beard and shave it off daily. It's a heart breaker since I'm a bigger guy.

Here’s my issue:

-Many of my beard hairs become noticeably darker, thicker, and almost wiry compared to the surrounding hairs.
-These dark hairs seem to stop growing normally and can be pulled out with almost zero resistance.
-My beard continues to become thinner, and areas that have lost hair don’t seem to be filling back in.
-I’ve also experienced significant hair loss on the lower portions of both legs (shins), along with some thinning on my upper thighs.
-This has been a gradual, ongoing process rather than a sudden episode of hair loss.

What I’ve tried:

-I’ve seen a dermatologist who diagnosed me with alopecia areata. I’ve undergone two rounds of steroid injections (Kenalog) without any noticeable improvement. If anything, the thinning has continued.
- My dermatologist has also prescribed oral minoxidil 2.5 and I haven’t had a biopsy or a detailed examination of my hair follicles using trichoscopy.

I’m not expecting anyone to diagnose me over Reddit. I’m just frustrated watching my beard progressively disappear without having a clear explanation of what’s happening.

Hi! Looking for yalls opinions on what to do with mustache. Trim like a chevron, or keep growing and brush to side?

I’ve got vitiligo and it causes a lot of transparent/very light hairs, especially compared to the hairs on my head.

I feel as if without this issue I’d be rocking a chevron, but it doesn’t feel like it’s thick or dark enough as is. I feel like they look best when they cover the top lip, but you can see mine through the hairs.

It’s been a while since I’ve grown it out, and this is the longest it’s been in a bit, but I think I’ve still got a bit of length to come in if I don’t touch it.

What do yall think?

This is an update post on my first attempt to let my beard grow. My first post can be found here.

It's been about 10 weeks since I last shaved my cheeks and I'm still not thrilled with being able to see my skin through the beard. I notice it's simultaneously looking a bit bushy and a bit thin.

I have an appointment with a barber next week for a haircut and beard trim and I'm trying to decide what I should ask for with regards to the beard. Do I shape the top? Do I just trim down the length or let it grow longer to make the weight of the hairs get everything in line?

I generally prefer a cleaner look, but people have told me they prefer me with the beard. Open to suggestions and guidance.

I’m thinking of letting the white hairs of this beard run wild and see what happens. Been a long time since I’ve even made it this far. I’m up for any product recommendations or suggestions. Right now all I do is shampoo when I wash my hair. I’m thinking of keeping it as natural as possible but I may also trim- maybe trim the sides but not sure. Any tips are appreciated. Thank you!

Had our first snowfall in Colorado yesterday. Winter beard in full effect.

I feel like I have some decent growth now, but no idea how I should style it as a bald man. Any ideas or guides?

I have the original pic of Natural Cheek- line and the AI picture with a groomed look. I’m used to the natural growth but several times I have been told to shape the cheek-line.

What do you guys think on the change? The one with hair is from around covid, when i first time tried to grow it out. Now at 27 after those top ones moved down i guess it was worth the wait(2nd attempt started around april, after a few years clean)

Hello beardies. I’ve never really had a beard before. I know, how did I get this old without ever having a beard? Well it always looked patchy so I always ended up shaving it off. But this time I thought you know what, I’m going bald so let’s see if I can at least have a proper beard. But it’s not going great. So I’d really appreciate any tips regarding making it look thicker, less patchy and less messy. Let me know your favourite products and techniques.
