[Highlight] Will Smith gives the Dodgers the lead!

Pat Murphy what the fuck was that. It was so obvious he was going to either walk him or hang something

Uribe threw 20 pitches.
4 of them hit the zone.
Talk about an implosion
60
u/Prestigious_Team3134 Colorado Rockies 2h ago
I’m not sure how you keep him in after he walked them loaded
24
40
u/Thealbumisjustdrums St. Louis Cardinals 2h ago
He’s pitched every single game this playoffs. Bizarre Murphy thinks he won’t get fatigued being used like that.
10
u/Flammzzrant New York Yankees 2h ago
2025 Louis Varland didnt get tired
5
u/Octopodes14 Minnesota Twins 2h ago
Varland had also been a starter the year prior, pitched 120 innings. Uribe hit a new max at 75 last year, before that his max was ~50.
1
2
u/Thealbumisjustdrums St. Louis Cardinals 2h ago
Louis Varland had a 3.93 ERA in the 2025 playoffs so I think you’re misremembering. That is not good for his standards.
5
u/ToasterRouble Toronto Blue Jays 1h ago
He was very up and down the whole postseason. It’s weird how people remember it as this amazing performance. The guy was a hero for going out there every game and being competitive, he was a workhorse. But the actual results were a mixed bag.
2
u/Thealbumisjustdrums St. Louis Cardinals 1h ago
Yeah but I don’t really blame a guy if they’re being used that heavily.
3
1
u/Flammzzrant New York Yankees 2h ago
I forget how well he did but I think he did pitch like every game, or at least the first 11? I remember that number for some reason
I shouldve left my comment as it was, i added the 'didnt get tired' afterwards
3
u/Thealbumisjustdrums St. Louis Cardinals 2h ago
Yeah I’m not blaming them, no pitcher is immune to fatigue. Not sure why managers can grasp this for starters but don’t get it for relievers.
2
u/Flammzzrant New York Yankees 2h ago
'He only threw 12 pitches (the last 12 days straight) hes probably fine'
2
u/Thealbumisjustdrums St. Louis Cardinals 2h ago
What is truly baffling to me is when guys like Pat Murphy do it despite having ELITE bullpens. It’s one thing if you’re overusing your only good bullpen arm (or one of the only ones). Brewers entire pen is good, why is anyone getting used every day?
17
8
u/Zloggt Chicago White Sox • Algodoneros d… 2h ago
Even though I didn’t love the idea, I did at least understand why Pat would want to get the bullpen to close it out now.
…unfortunately, the decision has backfired IMMENSELY…
8
u/Calm-Marsupial3919 Milwaukee Brewers 2h ago
They've got other guys in the bullpen. They had Senzetala warming for the 5th.
Going to the bullpen was fine, it just should never have been Uribe. He needed to have today off.
9
57
u/phua_thevada Toronto Blue Jays 2h ago
Uribe shaking off the catcher when he couldn’t throw a strike was a choice.
7
u/Masta0nion New York Yankees 2h ago
Why was he even still in there pitching?
Should’ve been taken out after Muncy, with the lefty Ohtani up, and being unable to throw strikes.
102
u/austinhannah Baltimore Orioles 2h ago
Uribe obviously didn't have it, surprised they let him pitch to 5 guys.

They burned their mound visit and somehow didn’t have a righty warmed up
19
u/milhouse234 2h ago
I'd rather bring in a lefty who can hit the zone than one who very clearly couldn't even make competitive pitches today and didn't have it
8
u/An_Actual_Lion Milwaukee Brewers 2h ago

Man fuck the matchups, doesn't matter which hand he's using if he can throw a strike

Yeah, imo sticking with righty on righty there made sense. The time to change would’ve been against Ohtani. Even though he’s a shade of his current self, maybe you get a ground ball.

u/Noriskhook3 2h ago
That’s what happens when you have a blister on a finger and want to get out while your team allows that, what a joke. Gasser was dealing and they gave the dodgers some room, which you can never do. Good job.

Nightmare inning for Uribe damn
66
u/doublegoldendragon Los Angeles Dodgers 2h ago edited 2h ago
I know Shohei and Will aren't hitting the ball, but leaving a pitcher who walked the bases loaded in is pretty risky
He felt like he had to throw a strike and Smith knew it
66
u/ZachPL_ New York Yankees 2h ago
That was probably the worst managing decision I have seen in a long time. Guy has absolutely nothing and shouldve came out two batter before that. Wow.
6
36
u/AFC-Wimbledon-Stan Atlanta Braves 2h ago
Keeping in Uribe was certainly a choice
6
u/onhalfaheart Chicago Cubs 2h ago
Yeah Hall should've faced Ohtani. Ohtani might not be slugging but presumably his eye still works and clearly it does
19
u/Beezer-MB Milwaukee Brewers 2h ago
Damn Murph blew this one. You go with DL Hall against Ohtani. Wow. What a mistake.
2
u/Muellercleez Toronto Blue Jays 2h ago
Wild that he left Uribe in here. He was clearly struggling with his release point / control
36
u/ngerb_5 Cincinnati Reds 2h ago
“I know he just walked 3 straight guys, but maybe he just needs more time” if Muncy didn’t whiff on two pitches down the middle it probably would have happened earlier
5
u/GeraldinePoon Los Angeles Angels 2h ago
Muncy kind of griefed his AB too, he was sitting fastball on strike 2 when Uribe hadn’t thrown one for a strike all night. Then he sat fastball again and whiffed on a slider lmao
10
u/BrayIsReal Atlanta Braves 2h ago
The dodgers have a bunch of players up that can't hit off of a tee lately .. and you keep a guy in that's bailing them out throwing balls every pitch. It's mind blowing
30
u/DaBusDriva2 Los Angeles Dodgers 2h ago
Uribe is fantastic but they going full Morrow with his usage
7
u/Calm-Marsupial3919 Milwaukee Brewers 2h ago
It's so dumb, he never should've entered this game from the jump. They got extremely greedy.
"Win tonight" is a fun strategy but it's not worth it for situations like this.

u/CapableRegrets 2h ago
Holy shit.
Just prior to this and saw the dude was hitting .042 and thought 'man, he's lucky Ohtani is the focus currently'.
10
u/serpentear Seattle Mariners 2h ago
Massive error by Murphy leaving him in. He clearly didn’t have it and one middle middle fatty later…
3
u/SantosCalzonesBatman Los Angeles Dodgers 2h ago
The other dude wasnt ready and he ran out of mound visits
Putting a dude not ready wouldve been a bigger mistake
1
u/serpentear Seattle Mariners 2h ago
He came in a pitch later, you telling me he couldn’t’ve finished getting ready on the mound?
Or are you talking someone else?

u/FlyingScot32 Milwaukee Brewers 2h ago
His ERA was the headline but the WHIP for Uribe has been notable all playoffs. It was a matter of time.
Walking the bases loaded tho. Goodness.
1
u/Astropolitika Los Angeles Dodgers • Chicago White Sox 2h ago
Yeah I had him circled as the relatively weak point in a stellar bullpen this postseason.
I think we needed more than 2 that inning though.

That was Counsell levels of waiting too long for bullpen management. Didn’t make any sense at all.

u/FPG_Matthew Washington Nationals 2h ago
Why is it that when a pitcher CLEARLY doesn’t have it, someone isn’t ready in the pen instantly?
He walked the first batter, after the next batter gets Ball ONE, I’m calling the pen to warm up ASAP. He walked the next batter, strikeout, walk the bases loaded
I’m sorry but he’s out of the game then and there. And it should be totally fine with all involved. He’s been nails, but hey we’re gonna take you out early now cuz your command clearly is taking a hit tonight. All good get em next time
And if the next pitcher has this same result, fine. I can sleep well knowing I tried to avoid it.
This felt inevitable 3 batters ago
1
u/Golfisactuallyfun 2h ago
This happens all the time to every team. Ive seen so many games where I think “why isnt the pitcher taken out yet?” Just to watch them let up 2+ runs.

Murphy shouldn't have used him tonight. Way over used. Also should've pulled him for Ohtani at bat
3
u/dohdudeh San Francisco Giants 2h ago
Letting him face Ohtani is defensible but when he walks crippled Ohtani to load the bases it’s pretty wild to let him have another batter lol

So pissed that he left uribe in for that only to pull him after the 2 runs, exact same outcome but now we're down a run. So stupid. Uribe is normally a rockstar but he cant hit the zone for 17 pitches this inning.
