Players Only Dodgers' Alex Call blasts controversial Sydney Sweeney ad

https://www.thebiglead.com/dodgers-alex-call-sydney-sweeney-novig-commercial-soft-porn/

Since the last post about this got deleted because it contained a X screenshot, hopefully this one actually stays for comment.

The gambling ads are non stop. I keep seeing them everywhere. So over it.

Seriously

How many of those things do we really need?

Between the sports betting and trading stuff, we now have the following for the major players:

  • DraftKings
  • FanDuel
  • PrizePicks
  • Underdog
  • Kalshi
  • Polymarket
  • Novig

They're not just ads, they're part of the broadcast and pre-game shows, too.

Yeah this is what pisses me off most. Impossible to stay away from them. I’ve never gambled on sports and probably never will, but I can’t imagine how shitty it must be to be inundated by this crap if you’re battling an addiction.

Exactly…

Imagine if you substituted it for any other dangerous legal vice like smoking or drinking instead. I am very confident gambling ads will be gone in the next decade.

That's the worst shit. I tend to get up and walk around during commercial breaks no matter what I'm watching (thanks, ADHD!) so I don't see as many commercials as a lot of people do, but the mid-broadcast ads read by the announcers are INFURIATING.

It kind of feels like a house of cards. MLB and the other leagues are in too heavy. In a short time it’s sunk its teeth into everything.

Doesn't espn have their own betting app too? Or did that get absorbed into another one?

They used to have ESPN Bet, which I think was a sports book they bought from Barstool? It didn't catch on and they canned it, though. Which seems kind of wild, right? How does a highly addictive product constantly advertised by a company with Disney's reach fail?

Hilariously that list doesn't even include the site that the Sidney Sweeney ad is for. It's just disgusting.

And Bet 365, too. Good lord, we're so cooked.

Not getting better in the current political climate given who sits on the board of both Kalshi and Polymarket.

There is also canadian "theScore Bet", owned by major gambling company Penn Entertainment who also owned Barstool for some time, which took over the rest of the userbase of the Barstool/ESPN thing after they took on Draftkings as a sponsor.

In April 2013, Major League Baseball invested in DraftKings, becoming the first US professional sports league to invest in daily fantasy sports. The investment was not disclosed at the time

Huh. I’ve heard of Bet MGM and Bet 365, but I haven’t heard of Novig.

Alberta legalized the gambling sites as of September 1, and for the month before and month after it was everywhere. Basically every roadside advertising board and every commercial as for sports betting. Even the ad board behind home plate at Skydome was specifically about a Canadian gambling site now being legal in Alberta.

It's finally dying down in favour of American funded traitors pushing anti-Canada messages.

Gambling is becoming the primary reason sports are played.

Fun fact: Legal sports prediction companies (FanDuel, DraftKings, etc.) collectively made more profit last year than any individual sports league. And the total sum of bets placed exceeded $100 billion.

And the people that are dumb enough to gamble their paychecks are the same people threatening the lives & families of the players when they lose their money.

Mark my words: If I see one more gambling ad and another boner pill ad, my parlay will hit.
