I think it will be interesting to see how the dodgers will handle being forced to cut stars to become salary cap compliant.

I am TERRIFIED to see how good a Rays team will become when they are forced to spend to a cap floor.

They have the best front office and analytics department in baseball and it's not even close. The fact that they're able to be so consistently competitive AND have a top 2 farm system while being the 2nd poorest team with piss-poor attendance is legitimately insane

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the Rays have been doing this for longer AND in a more competitive division.

That being said what Milwaukee has done has been extremely similar.

The Rays have the 3rd best winning percentage since 2008, behind the Yankees and Dodgers and ahead of every other team, including the Brewers. All while being the 2nd poorest team in the sport.

Yeah, we didn’t start to become good until like, 2017 or so. We started behind the ball, but have been good for almost ten years now.

u/Malevolentfather is right that the AL East is tougher than the NL Central but I think on the whole the NL has been stronger the past ten years.

You know damn well that MLB will grandfather in existing contracts.

Bold to assume there will be a cap

Thing is theyre still a great organization

Thats what adds the extra vinegar to all the bull shit theyre able to get away with. Youre already one of the best teams in the league and then you buy all the top players especially in the most important post season position, pitcher

I don’t think teams who don’t spend will necessarily get better. They’ll just throw money at players that might not deserve it to be cap compliant, assuming a floor even happens.

Yea I can’t wait to see the blue jays tethered to vlad and that albatross contract when a so called cap takes place

I would really hope that the Rays don't change much drastically aside from fixing the constant roster churn. Which is also frustratingly part of what has made them so good, because they don't end up hanging onto the guy who is way past his prime.
