Get knocked out of ALDS in 2025, do nothing in the off season to materially improve the team, get knocked out in ALDS again

Literally baffling lol.

“Okay same plan next year boys, enjoy the offseason!”

u/grooter33 Toronto Blue Jays 7d ago

“That Boone guy is pretty good, we should extend him”

11

u/monkeyman80 Los Angeles Dodgers 7d ago

And Cashman.

1

u/nypr13 Chicago Cubs 6d ago

Pretty good is appropriate. Make the playoffs, get ass kicked. I’d say the Yankees are a pretty good team.

If only we could make the Dodgers pretty good.

1

u/CunningRunt Major League Baseball 6d ago

Boone is not the problem. If the yankees let him go another team will scoop him up in a nanosecond. Just. like. that.

yankees should definitely make Boone the Manager 4 Lyfe.

Definitely.

u/moffattron9000 7d ago

I mean, Hal Steinbrenner is just another cheapskate owner. They just have a higher baseline because they're the Yankees.

4

u/GlassesOff Los Angeles Dodgers 7d ago

They're so scared to make any significant changes. Kind of unreal what they've just agreed to be instead of pushing some chips in.

4

u/Burgerburgerfred New York Yankees 6d ago

And theyre going to see this as being because Judge was out and do it all over again.

Not realizing that the team being incapable of scoring runs without Judge is a total failure in roster building. Theres a reason why the last time the team went to the World Series it was with Soto on the team. There needs to be another experienced elite bat in this lineup. Judge can't be the only thing that holds the offense together for the last like 9 out of 10 seasons.

u/jboogie1844 New York Mets 6d ago

one of their front office guys is literally on the current season of Survivor lmao

hey sounds pretty familiar

u/Inside-Drink-1311 New York Yankees 7d ago

See you next year when it’s the Orioles turn to beat us in the ALDS.

279

u/ITGOKS Baltimore Orioles 7d ago

Only issue with that is that it's clearly Boston's turn to win the AL East:

2023: BAL, 2024: NYY, 2025: TOR, 2026: TB

Clearly it's Boston 2027

I like this guy. Promote him.

Now those are all the analytics we need baby

12

u/fracturedsplintX Boston Red Sox 6d ago

You’re my kinda guy, guy.

1

u/bac5665 Cleveland Guardians 6d ago

Wait a minute, what about us? Next season will be 20 years since the Midges Game and I'll want to honor that history by beating the Yankees again

1

u/catchphish Boston Red Sox 6d ago

Ah man this is pretty sick. Wonder how often this has happened? At first glance it seems pretty unlikely, but assuming each team has equal odds each year, it'd be just under 4% odds for a given division, so kind of high given the league has six divisions and you thus get six chances and make it over 20% odds. 1(4/5)(3/5)(2/5)(1/5)... or more broadly (n!)/(nn). Obviously teams don't have equal odds, the NL West being a stark example, hence why we don't see this often (if ever?) and it'd have to be in a competitive division.

We'll never see it at a league wide level. Just the AL or NL would be 1 in 334,864, full MLB would be in the trillions.

1

u/sheep_duck San Francisco Giants 6d ago

Wild that you have a division with 5 (usually) competetive teams.

63

u/chicknsnadwich Baltimore Orioles 7d ago

One can hope

10

u/Legal-Law9214 7d ago

Now this I can agree with a Yankees fan on

18

u/TheGameWaker Toronto Blue Jays 7d ago

Red Sox always destined to lose to you in the wild card.

7

u/CSGO_Bangkok Boston Red Sox 7d ago

IIRC, pre-Devers trade, we always won against Yankees during post season games

u/Troll_Enthusiast Baltimore Orioles • Washington Nationals 6d ago

Winning playoff games??? I wish

The Dallas Cowboys of MLB

90

u/Powerserg95 New York Yankees 7d ago

At least Jerry acts like he cares, I can give the Cowboys that

86

u/Head_of_Lettuce Tampa Bay Rays 7d ago

Jerry does care. He just happens to also be an 83 year old alcoholic

8

u/BroadBrazosAvon95 7d ago

Jerry and the Steinbrenners care about one thing, and it’s what they both do extremely well: maintain the status of the brand without ever actually improving the quality of the team. Yankees hats still sell like hot cakes and Cowboys are the first topic on every show, mission accomplished

4

u/CarlySimonSays Chicago Cubs 6d ago

He's only 83?!?!

3

u/azularena Seattle Mariners 7d ago

3

u/venustrapsflies Los Angeles Dodgers 6d ago

honestly surprised to learn he's only 83

Right? He straight looks like the CryptKeeper at this point.

32

u/Der_Dunkinmeister Texas Rangers • World Series Trophy 7d ago

Jerry cares he just sucks ass at it

15

u/Top_Of_The_Line Brooklyn Dodgers 7d ago

Jerry has good drafts and a solid track record for trades. Free Agency and coaching hires are his pitfalls

1

u/nypr13 Chicago Cubs 6d ago

To be fair, George was essentially the same.

16

u/dasfee Philadelphia Phillies 7d ago

Jerry caring is actually the problem

2

u/Tresnore Philadelphia Phillies 6d ago

And may he live to care for many many more years. Go birds.

u/Lord_Star-Lord 7d ago

Yankees are an objectively better franchise than the Cowboys tho. Every single team in the NFC has made the conference championship, except for the Cowboys since 2000.

4

u/drinfernodds New York Yankees 7d ago

As a New York Giants and Yankees fan, I hate how accurate this is becoming. My only consolation that unlike The Cowboys, the Yankees have won rings since 95.

3

u/holyd1ver83 New York Yankees 7d ago

Dead on, and I've been saying it for years. Or the Bulls, or the Oilers. Most of our glory days came and went before the majority of the fanbase these days was born, and we will bury ourselves alive telling those ghost stories forever.

2

u/elissa24 Los Angeles Dodgers 7d ago

Bars

1

u/ThisGuyFrags Baltimore Orioles 7d ago

same team colors too

1

u/GlassesOff Los Angeles Dodgers 7d ago

Cowboys have never even made the Super Bowl in my lifetime, Yankees at least have Pennants to point too. Cowboys are what you get when you get even more complacent, proud, and ignorant. I know we're dunking on NY here but we really don't give Dallas enough shit

2

u/StevenMC19 Baltimore Orioles 6d ago

It's a team that's built like McDonald's at this point. It's not about the product, but the real estate. The money is made on the land and how to use that land.

1

u/GlassesOff Los Angeles Dodgers 6d ago

both of their valuations have basically doubled in the last 10-20 years and they've done nothing to improve the main foundation so yeah that tracks lol

1

u/ImpendingBoom110123 Texas Rangers 6d ago

🗑

1

u/itsmuddy Boston Red Sox 6d ago

As a Cowboys fan this hurts twice as much.

1

u/StevenMC19 Baltimore Orioles 6d ago

You're not wrong.

May and June 2027, there are going to be some high school graduates walking the aisle that have never been alive when the Yankees have won the World Series.

1

u/DangerWildMan26 Pittsburgh Pirates 6d ago

More like the bills. Both teams rely on the star to carry the team

America's Team™

116

u/RxngsXfSvtvrn Brooklyn Dodgers 7d ago

Hey, don't forget "do nothing at the trade deadline" either!

65

u/therealgranny New York Yankees 7d ago

Hey, we picked up a first baseman at the trade deadline. One that has another year of control preventing us from playing Ben Rice at that position requiring him to DH. Because he has to DH we have to play a 35 year injury prone giant in right field to get them both in the lineup. That’s definitely doing something.

6

u/neosapprentice 7d ago

Front office 2025: “we’re gonna run it back”

Front office 2026: “not like that” 😂

4

u/Powerserg95 New York Yankees 7d ago

Crazy how the Yankees front office doesnt get more criticism for its lack of anything. Yes winning season for 30 years is neat and all, but the way they construct the line up in only good enough for that

4

u/pm-me-nice-lips 7d ago

But dude, they weren’t that far from taking the ALDS, they won like 2……oh, shit. They didn’t win any games?

4

u/UDPviper 7d ago

I can't believe all the sports pundits were saying the Yankees improved on defense this year.

3

u/Internal-Plantain-56 New York Yankees 7d ago

If you don't like that, you don't like Booneball.

4

u/Salt_Lie_1857 7d ago

What else can they do? This team they currently have is super strong. I guess they need better strategic minds in the coaching and main office department. They have the players to win right now

2

u/CunningRunt Major League Baseball 6d ago

They do what the nerds tell them to do.

3

u/Friend72 Boston Red Sox 7d ago

Michael Kay will tell you they didn’t actually run it back since Amed Rosario wasn’t on the team last May

3

u/ir3flex Tampa Bay Rays 7d ago

I mean they won 90+ games with Judge hurt basically all season. All a front office can really do is set the team up to make the playoffs, after that the playoffs are a crapshoot

2

u/Flying-Terrapin New York Yankees 7d ago

Consistency ✅

Kind of a pointless comparison with Judge out injured.

1

The fourth one is "yankees lose in the playoffs."
