The lone report on this post.

I'm afraid Pablo sends his regards.

But this is my billionaire, my billionaire wouldn't do anything wrong because they own the team I root for

369

u/captain_ahabb Los Angeles Dodgers Sep 03 '26

Oh Mark did very wrong. I'm not sure how it can affect the team though (other than him being forced to sell I guess)

If he’s forced to sell Shohei can walk right

167

Oh yes... My billionaire already got in trouble so there's nothing to see Pablo... Don't look at the Knicks or Mets!!!! Actually Dolan can go

60

As a fan of both of those teams myself, I totally understand Cohen but was very confused by someone feeling protective of Dolan. Justice for Oak!

However much Dolan gets booed by the people of NY will never be enough.

Yes (not that I think he would)

u/fender-b-bender Chicago Cubs Sep 04 '26

Yeah, Friedman leaving is probably the whole reason for the clause and not ownership. Ownership is going to spend, just because they can afford to even if it changes hand. Getting a guy like Friedman is much, much harder

11

u/EBtwopoint3 Sep 04 '26

I mean ownership isn’t necessarily going to spend. Looks at the Rickett’s. We’re 26th in salary to revenue ratio at 36%. We could absolutely spend more, but we don’t.

Stan Kroenke is kicking himself right now that he didnt wait 1 more week before announcing which LA MLB team he was buying.

108

u/YasielPuigsWeed Sep 04 '26

27% of the Dodgers with no real estate around it to develop vs 100% of the Angels with a shit ton of real estate around to develop

Given how Stan Kroenke makes moves I think the Angels would be more appealing for his aims either way

I doubt the mods are intentionally suppressing it.

It's probably being mass reported by rubes and the sub's automod or even Reddit itself could be automatically taking it down.

There are many examples of people jumping straight to collusion/coverup conspiracies when this is the actual explanation when posts about a controversial/sensational topic keep getting deleted.

The Clippers were fined $30m, lost their next 5 first round draft picks, and had their owner and president banned for a year.

This looks really bad for baseball and their slap on the sack for the Astros cheating.

6

u/OSRS_Socks Atlanta Braves Sep 04 '26

Tbf, Astros got of real easy due to the old CBA before it was fixed in 22. The current CBA is a lot worse for players found to be cheating that way and fixed how the MLB can handle meeting with the players. The old CBA made it very hard for the MLB to do anything. They basically had to give all their evidence to the player and the player and his lawyer determined if it was enough for a meeting and they could easily say “Nah, that’s not enough. Please get more before you call me in.” And they could do that on and on. If a player came out and said “these guys were cheating.” Every player involved would know who it was when they got the evidence because they made it a requirement to not block out the name.

Walter's level of alleged financial malfeasance is going to make the Clippers' circumvention of the NBA salary cap seem very small, if Torre manages to really get into it.

For lack of a better way to put it, Mark Walter's been playing with real money not pro sports team level money.

This sub is going to be interesting tomorrow because so many people are going to go into it with their narrative already in their head and probably not even listen to the podcast (or listen passively) then come here and comment their narrative even though it won’t align with the actual investigation

That’s been the dialogue around this situation the whole time. Unlike the Clippers, this has been a federal investigation so there’s more existing documentation people can look at. Right now it basically shows the Dodgers were empowering Walter’s loan business, not the loan business empowering the Dodgers.

What I’m interested in from Pablo is what info he can get from insiders that we don’t currently have

What I’m interested in from Pablo is what info he can get from insiders that we don’t currently have

I'm gonna call it.

I bet the podcast is merely a summary of everything that's already out there. Which is a shitload of stuff. But nothing we don't already know.

Because there's ongoing government investigations. And they don't want anything leaked which isn't public (for obvious reasons).

19

I wouldn’t be surprised tbh, which would still be fine. Some people need information digested for them and passed along cleanly by someone credible.

The only words worse than "Pablo Torre is doing an investigation about you" is "Why don't you have a seat right there"

You mean the team that has a pipeline into Japan and has billions deferred and has an owner being investigated for fraud and has a cushy deal excluding them from revenue sharing is up to no good and potentially sketchy business dealings???? AS IFFFFF

Let’s be honest, who among us hasn’t done a cute little fraud every once in a while?

Unironically, he should consider having a security detail. You piss one billionaire off for exposing their corrupt shenanigans, you’re poking a bear. You piss off the entire class for showing they’re all the same… watch out.

  1. I love the Dodgers.
  2. If Walter did something illegal, prosecute him.

Both sentiments can be true.

I wonder if Passan will be like how his other ESPN colleagues were with regards to how they disregarded Pablo’s investigation on the Clippers

I feel like a lot of people are running with this in the thought it will be exactly like the clippers, when like, there are so many other possibilities. We literally know the bad shit that Walter is doing on some level due to the lakers sale, the entire investigation could be around that.

I thought it would be Brunson and the Knicks, as he teased it before. We'll have to see.

He said he looked into Brunson and didn't find anything

If I had a nickel for every time an LA team cheated to prevent a Toronto team winning another title, I could ask for a dime
