I wish i could personally thank those people who made him Interim chief advisor. People got to see the real face of him. Otherwise people would always fantasize only if he came to power Bangladesh would be a Platinum Bangla within some years. Now people knows his real face. The reason is that even though dr. yunus is a liberal, open-minded, secular individual himself; when he came to power, the right wing people and the extremists were the main pressure groups to the interim government. So the government mostly took actions that aligned with these right wing and extremist groups. He then became a symbol of these people, just like jinnah who was an atheist but became a symbol of the south asian muslims.

The only thing closest to "liberals" judging from a purely Western political perspective are the BNP leaders and their supporters.
You can't be considered a liberal if you're either a tankie, anti-islam radical atheist, working as a regimented entity, symping for an apolitical technocratic election-killing ideology, or blaming democracy for everything that goes wrong in your country.
We still haven't forgotten how these half-intellectual pro-Moscow Marxists pretending to be liberals were the first to jump the bandwagon in bashing BNP and calling for a prolonged unelected government. Until of course, the Jamaatis showed up and now they needed to change course!
Only, and I repeat again, only BNP fits closest to the definition of standard Liberalism.
