Hi everyone, David Lindmer here!
I'm a British DJ/Producer and co-founder of Running Clouds, an electronic music label I run alongside Andrea Vizzo.
For a bit of background, I've been involved in electronic music for over 20 years. I grew up in the UK and got deep into the 90s rave scene, I have produced and mixed all sorts of music over the years, from acid house to UK garage. My biggest influences are The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers and everything that came with that era.
I've been fortunate enough to release music on labels including Afterlife, Upperground, Purified and Watergate, as well as my own RC imprint.
My current sound is rooted in melodic techno, but I've always been drawn to the darker, groovier side of the genre, and those UK rave influences have never really left me.
A big part of what Running Clouds is about has always been discovering and supporting new talent, no matter how big or small. Over the years we've released music from artists at different stages of their careers, including Massano, 19:26, Dyzen, Grigore, Oscar L, Bigfett, Eze Ramirez, Riko & Gugga, Eli & Dani, Q.U.A.K.E and many more.
We're launching our first label showcase here in NYC this weekend at SILO, so thought it would be good to get some input from the community about what you'd like to see at our events.
For Saturday's show we're stripping things back. We just want to focus on the music and the dancefloor, while introducing you to some international artists you may not have discovered yet. The idea is to bring a bit of that old-school underground rave feeling into the night.
I'm curious to hear what this community thinks about the current rave scene in NYC. Things have changed so much over the last few years, both in terms of the music itself and the events around it. Where do you think the scene is heading? What's exciting you at the moment, and what would you like to see more of?
I'd love to hear your thoughts. And of course, feel free to AMA about music production, DJing, running an independent label, scouting for talent, the industry or anything else!
Hope to see some of you on the dancefloor Saturday!
Cheers,
David
