“The game industry” vs “The gameS industry”

Same question regarding

“The sport industry” vs “The sports industry”. When is it one over the other?

The sentence I want to formulate: “The game(s?) industry will remember.”

Morphology Why some words from phrasal verbs seem to form differently?

There are some words that are formed from reversing the orders of phrasal verbs (come in → income, standing out→ outstanding, put in → input) but there are others where the phrasal verb order is still kept (run off → runoff, break down → breakdown, back up → backup).

Is there a difference between the two ways of forming words from phrasal verbs?

What were/are the base colors in Latin

By base colors I mean colors that are not considered a shade of other colors, for example "lilac" is a color in English but it's considered a shade of purple while pink is not considered a shade of red (in other languages it is). I recently fell down the rabbit hole of color term hierarchy and I'm wondering where latin was.

Note: I am aware that Latin, like any other language, has evolved over time, so if you have any knowledge about how it changed over time that would be even better.

When did "stoned" and "high" stop meaning "drunk"?

• Upvotes

Having recently listened to some Billy Joel and George Thorogood, both refer to drinkers as "getting high" or "getting stoned". So when did this shift from referring to drinking, or intoxication in general, to referring primarily to other drugs? Thinking mainly of American English, but other dialects would certainly be welcome.

for instance, how would such a language distinguish between "i quickly began to dance" and "i began to quickly dance"?
