Mudar-se

On viure

Cost of living

Barcelona is getting more and more expensive, getting on par with other big European cities. Salaries tend to be lower.

Accommodation

  • Market is difficult. It is common to share rooms in a flat even when working.

Where to live

  • Newcomers usually start in Eixample before visiting neighborhoods by themselves to see which ones they like.

Costs

  • Look at Idealista for prices in the areas you want.
  • Indicative monthly rents (to refine based on the area)
    • Rooms: 650€ to 950€
    • Studios: 800€ to 1.500 €
    • A two bedroom flat: from 1300–1700 € to 2.500€ and more

Finding something from abroad

  • Avoid signing any long-term contract without seeing the flat. There are a lot of scammers.
  • Agencies can help you relocate

Where do I find? // On trobo? La Wash detergent?

Hi all I hope this isn’t an oddly specific question lol I was in Barcelona this summer and used La Wash to wash my clothes. Some of my garments still smell like the detergent the machines automatically dispensed there and I like it very much! Anyone has an idea what brand or type (liquid, powder etc) those machines use? I’ve been trying to find something similar but to no avail. Thank you!!!!!

Where do I find? // On trobo? Knee scooter

Not sure if I will be fully healed before I come to Barcelona, but I am trying not to bring a knee scooter through three airports (they all have wheelchairs or golf carts to assist). But I would really like it on the cruise ship after a couple days in the city.

Are there any medical supply shops close to La Rambla (we are staying at the World Trade Center right by the port).

Thanks in advance, my GoogleFu is failing me on this one.

Tourism // Turisme Barber recommendation

Hola todos.

I know this has been asked many times but I don't see anything recent. I'm looking for a barber recommendation near Basilica of the Sagrada Familia. I'm specifically looking for a barber that can do modern fades/tapers but also is able to do scissor work. I'm not really looking for a traditional barber but rather where young people go.

Sorry for writing this in English! I speak okay Spanish but this was going to be too hard to explain without using a translator app.

Gracias!

Housing // Habitatge Long-term rental asking for a fixed utility fee

Is this legal?

A long-term rental contract is saying that there’s a fixed rate of 300€ for utilities including wifi. There’s no mention that this will be adjusted by usage

For a long term rental (5 years) this seems pretty illegal as a way to increase the rent further than the legally allowed limit?

Appreciate any insight on this!

Paperwork // Tràmits Denúncia urbanística a l'ajuntament

Hola!

Where do I find? // On trobo? Ikea in Sabadell

I am thinking about buying some furniture in Sabadell and bring back to Barcelona ( the furniture I want is not in any of the Barcelona stores). I know outside of the Barcelona stores, there are those vans for hire. Have anyone used them from Sabadell to Barcelona and can tell me how much roughly it is? I am in Eixample if it helps.

Where do I find? // On trobo?

Where do I find? // On trobo? Matemáticas / Física / Ciencias en Barcelona

Hola,

Hey everyone!
I’m looking for a good accountant or tax advisor for freelancers (autónomos) in Barcelona, preferably someone who can handle pretty much everything: taxes, paperwork, filings, etc.
Ideally, I’d like someone who really knows their stuff, knows all the legal ways to save on taxes and maximize deductions, and doesn’t charge a fortune.
Basically, I’m looking for someone who’s smart, proactive, and actually helps you save money instead of just filing paperwork and calling it a day.
Does anyone have any recommendations based on personal experience? Also, if you don’t mind sharing how much you pay per month, that would be super helpful!
Thanks in advance!

Studies // Estudis Uni students: How did yall find internships?

Im currently in a marketing master program but I CANT find any internship. I have applied around 30 roles and only one company gave me a phone screen but thats it. Now this is a pretty low respond rate and you can argue that maybe 30 is not a big number but there are not much openings too. Even using linkedin + university platform the actual job openings are very little. Im still applying every single day but idk how soon i will run out of roles to apply.

I wanna hear your experience: is it that hard to find an internship? what things can I improve on? is it just a numbers game like dating app?

Housing // Habitatge Reputable short-term rental sites for first month's stay?

I'll be doing a six month visiting professorship at the University of Barcelona starting in January and I've begun looking for somewhere to live. Reading other people's posts, it seems that the best strategy is to book a month or so with some short-term rental site and then start looking in person to avoid scams.

Obviously AirBnB comes to mind, but I'd like to avoid using them for the obvious reasons. I understand the scope of Barcelona's housing crisis and live in a city that's experiencing something similar. That being said, are there other sites that people would recommend? I've come across Badi, ShBarcelona and Spotahome, but I'm not familiar with any of them and have heard various warnings about each.

Can anyone who has gone through a similar situation offer some advice?

Where do I find? // On trobo?

Where do I find? // On trobo? Walking shelter dogs

Are there any shelters that allow you to come in and walk the dogs there. I saw that there was one that needed training before you could. I was wondering what the cases for the others were.

Where do I find? // On trobo? Laptop repair?

Just started my masters program here at UPF and my laptop is having trouble. I think it needs a battery and disk replaced? I spent all my money to move here and start the program, so I can’t exactly buy a new laptop right now. I’ve seen a couple of repair shops, but im wondering what most people do when their laptop has trouble? Is there a repair shop that is better than the others, or one that is better for Dell laptops??

It’s a Dell Inspiron from like 2020 if that is helpful. And I’m in Barceloneta right now, but my classes are over in Eixample.

Thanks/ Gràcies for any help!!
