Is this thing dead?

Sound up. Cycling on and off and making this noise. Yes, I know it's very old.

Our home's 2005 single-stage Goodman heat pump had leaks in the air handler. Technician said it was the evaporation coil and some other part. He said vibration/rubbing caused the leaks. The system was old, so we just decided to buy a new one.
A local salesman gave us a quote for a single-stage American Standard Silver 14, which uses R-454B. Price is $8K installed.
The quote calls for re-using and flushing our existing refrigerant lines (pig/rubber bullet through the whole lineset) rather than replacing the lines. Salesman says that the 2005 copper lines have thicker walls than the 2026 lines. He says he can quote us new lines as an additional cost, but he claims the old lines are better. The company will do a nitrogen pressure test and deep vacuum test before charging the new system.
But my understanding is that R-454B operates at substantially higher pressures than the R-22 (true?). I also read that the old Goodman lines are a different width than the new American Standard.
Should I recycle the lines or should I get new lines?

We have had issues with the ac unit. First it was blowing warm air. Maintenance came by and fixed it. A week later and just a few days ago it wouldn't kick on. You could hear the coolant going but nothing else. Maintenance came by again and fixed it. The air filter was left out when they left. After just a litle I noticed that while it is blowing and is cold it is barely blowing. I hate to be a bother and request Maintenance to come by again especially this quickly. Also they were supposed to come by and change the air filters a few weeks ago. I double checked the lease and that is not on me ( might replace it myself anyway) I have no clue where the filter goes.

I have a 2018 Tempstar AC system. I live in central FL. The AC stops working around noonish. It stays off all day and then sometime during the night it comes back on.
During the day everything is indicating it should be working. Thermostat is calling for cool. Batteries in the thermostat are new. Breakers at the electric panel aren’t tripped.
Replaced the start/run capacitor & contactor. The System did the same thing with the new parts. Started running overnight, died around noon.
AC tech has no idea. Thought it was a breaker, but had it tested by an electrician and he verified it is working. He tested it during the day when the AC isn’t on.
At first he thought the thermostat was programmed. Like it was on a timer. It wasn’t. He then removed the battery in the thermostat and the display went dead. He said it should be lit up. This lead him to the Air Handler where he said there was no high voltage.
Any ideas?

See the full explanation on in the original post, but I am getting wildly conflicting opinions on this 20 year old gas pack unit and want some outside advice.

Hello,
I have a condenser water pump and the casing has a small leak in it. The contractor says they can rebuild it but I have my doubts. Do you think this pump can be rebuilt?
Thanks

Just received a quote to replace three dampers and separate and put insulation between all touching air ducts. I live in a townhome style 3 story home that has one ac unit. The quote is for $2,814. Is this reasonable?

Forgive me if I’ve already posted here. I’m a senior living in a HUD apartment
brand new building built December 2025. the first night I moved in. I was extremely ill. It was extremely dusty in here nonstop. finally figured out. It was coming from the HVAC whenever I had it turned on so much gray clumps and dust coming out. nonstop & making me extremely ill . I did my own research as they’re individual HVACs in individual apartments. I read when the contractors were
Here and completing my individual HVAC, They didn’t vacuum out the debris before closing it out.
That’s what it’s been shooting out. I reached out to management. All she did was open the front compartment of the HVAC and look at the filter and say it’s fine. I’ve read the science of where the debris is
anyways I’m exhausted. Sorry for the rambling text.
I’ve asked other tenants in this building. They don’t have the same problem. I keep the AC off as much as possible so it’s not quite as bad however, in the newer buildings, they have a vent w outside air that’s connected to the HVAC. It’s constant 24/7 so I’m still sick. It’s going to be getting cold soon. wondering if any HVAC professionals are familiar with this? I mean, building debris, fiberglass, etc. all the symptoms of mold actually but not as far as I know. Mold test came back negative.
Thanks in advance for any input
