Hiking to Azhdahak without a guide

Hello,

I'm looking to hire a car for a hike up Azhdakah in the next couple of weeks. From what I've seen online, it's best to park in Geghard, and set off from there. Has anyone done this before? If so, how many hours would you recommend? Is there a visible, marked trail? And I'm guessing there's going to be a bit of snow falling this time of year?

Thanks in advance

Hi, I'm a local guide from Garni. It would be difficult to get to Ajdahak from Geghard, especially at this time of year. It's about a 20 km hike on foot. Usually, we drive as close as possible to Paytasar, then hike about 6 km to Karmir Mountain and Mount Ajdahak.

Appreciate your response to this. I actually had a bit more of a search and saw that the distance from the village is significant. I’ll wait until spring! Thanks
