Ask /r/Architecture How is this Plaster Technique Done?

During a recent visit to Barcelona I saw several examples of this exterior plaster detail. Its a pretty stunning way to ornament an otherwise plain facade. I'm trying to figure out if there is a specific name for this technique and how it is done.

My guess is this is stenciled as the tan parts are raised.

But is the base plaster applied then the details stenciled in with a different color plaster after? Is it all done at once and one of the colors are painted.

Its probably a basic question, but we just don't get up these types of things in America and I'm always curious about novel techniques.

Thanks in advance.

(P.S. Barcelona is one of the most incredible places I've ever visited. I know there's a tenuous relationship with tourist right now, but as a young architect, I can tell you I was tearing up in awe of your amazing architecture. Thank you for having us.)
