i recognize this stretches the definition of “anime music” for the simple fact that i am an American alt rock guitarist and this is a translated work. So i didn’t want to post the actual cover and instead posted this little project i did with it in the scene it originally comes from in FLCL.
This is the 2nd The Pillows song ive translated to english and the goal of these covers are to introduce more english speaking alt rock fans to FLCL and the Pillows but i’ve gotten a lot of love from fans of the series and the Pillows so i’ve been posting it not just on social media for western audiences but on these anime / j rock focused groups too. any love is appreciated because it REALLY helps my goal of showing more people.
anyways, I’ve been a The Pillows fan since i first saw FLCL on adult swim in like 2004. FLCL and the Pillows got me into becoming a musician and fueled my love for alt rock my whole life. With the recent disbanding of the Pillows i thought it would be a good time to take what i’ve learned from Audio Engineering and Music Production school and learn these songs and release them.
