EDIT 7/10/19: This post is wildly outdated. If anyone wants to take it on themselves to compile a new one, I'll sticky it.
EDIT 3/18/2026: Nearly a decade old post now. A lot has happened/been developed in Alpharetta. Again, if someone would like to make an updated post, I'd be happy to sticky it.
We get a lot of folks looking to move to Alpharetta posting questions or newly-moved people who don't know what to do here, so I figured I could make it easier! I didn't vet any of these links for quality of responses, so feel free to post any of these questions again tailored to your personal needs! And if you have suggestions on any of these topics, don't be afraid to comment below.
I looked back to the last 12 months only. If anyone finds an older post they find useful, feel free to suggest it for the list.

Looking for a home for this sweet boy! He randomly wandered to our host and moved in on our porch (We have a couple ferals my wife and I take care of), but it is very obvious he was abandoned and used to live in a home. He is SO sweet and friendly and we feel so bad he does not have a home he can live in.
If anyone was looking for a sweet friendly new companion, please DM me!

Hi:
I never drive to downtown Atlanta. Any advice on driving from Alpharetta to the courthouse tomorrow morning? What time to leave to be down there by 8:00 a.m.?
Thank you very much.

Does anyone have details on the ballot initiative for the 2026 T-SPLOST, like what projects are pending for Alpharetta/North Fulton? I know Roswell has a list on roswellconnections, but I would like to see an Alpharetta or North Fulton list.

I've become sort of obsessed with drinking a good smoky old fashioned after a long day at work. The kind where they burn the wood and literally smoke the drink.
Where are your go-to spots to get one?
So far I've found good ones at:
Di Paolo
Taffer's Tavern
Ive heard Lazy Dog has one. But I havent tried it.
What say you, Alpharetta?

Alpharetta's official calendar lists a community zoning information meeting for October 14 at 6 p.m.
Zoning discussions can affect future development, building density, traffic, and the character of nearby neighborhoods. They can also give residents a chance to find out what is being proposed before decisions move forward.
Has anyone attended one of Alpharetta's zoning meetings? How accessible is the process for residents who want to follow local development plans?

Apologies for an incoming rant. I had visited an urgent care in Alpharetta last month as I woke up with some rash kind of symptoms. Went to urgent care and the nurse there freaked out assuming it might be measles and asked me to go to ER which I went. It turned out to be chicken pox. They made me wait 2 hrs in a room and then drew blood samples for testing. I was sent back home. Fast forward I got a bill of $7K from ER. After insurance I owe about 3.5K.
As if that wasn't enough, I now got a bill from urgent care that I owe $350 for just telling me to go to ER. Not even a doctor visited me there.
I don't know how this is sustainable. HDHP plan you save about $8K an year and just like that half of that is wiped out.

A lot of the townhomes are districted to hembree springs which is probably getting consolidated with mimosa. Esther Jackson and vickery mills impacted. All schools have over 50% free lunch.

Hey everyone,
Looking for people interested in regular Table Tennis/ Chess. I am going to soon get my custom paddle and want to get back to being regular, as I did play to a decent level in the past. Work and academics kind of reduced my gametime.
I do play chess too and would love to know if anyone is down/ if there is an active Chess club in Alpharetta.
Unfortunately, I do not have a car yet, which restricts my options to other places but down for a game in and around Alpharetta regardless!

Anywhere on the West Coast, including Hawaii you could find hot links at every local grocery store as well as linguiça or Portuguese sausage. I'm having the hardest time finding these here in Atlanta. I'm willing to drive. Does anyone know where I can get either of these? And I'm not talking about going and buying a hot link from a barbecue stand, I want the kind I can actually take and put in my fridge and cook myself.

I’m not sure why this is happening but recently the water has been smelling like a weird metal smell. I don’t know if that’s the best way to describe it but it’s a smell that comes from the running water either from the faucet or the shower. It doesn’t taste bad or look different it just smells metallic. Does anyone now why this is happening?
Also this isn’t something new it’s been happening for years but I haven’t noticed it in a while and it recently came back. Not sure if this has to do with it being the fall season.

It'll be a place to share recipes and vegan animal facts! Did you know Gorillas are vegan and way stronger than humans?
look at your teeth and look at your nails. neither are strong enough nor sharp enough to be a carnivore, but perfect for fruit and peeling fruit. Glucose is the ultimate power source of the cell, meaning humans thrive off of fruit

Hey! My family relocated to Georgia a few years ago. Between then and now we have been going to my hometown for the holidays. Now we’re parents and I want to start traditions of our own. We are just a tiny little family with a mom, dad, and one year old.
We would like to go to a restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner. Any suggestions for restaurants that do it best? Thank you thank you thank you

Some schools in Fulton County were in a soft lockdown from 6.50am-7.20am today.
