Agoura Hills, I almost cancelled my dentist appointment because I was embarrassed. 😭❤️

This is honestly a little embarrassing to admit, but I feel like someone else might need to hear this.

I had been putting off going to the dentist for longer than I want to admit. I wasn't just avoiding the dentist. I was embarrassed. I was so self conscious about my teeth that the thought of sitting in the chair, opening my mouth with and having someone look inside with a bright light made me want to cancel the appointment. I kept feeling this pit of shame in my stomach.

I almost talked myself out of going this morning. Making excuses for myself I could possibly use. "I got called into work", "I'm feeling a bit sick", etc.

I'm so glad I didn't.

I went to Agoura Hills Dental Designs, and I can't explain how much it meant to be treated with kindness instead of feeling judged. Dr. Matian and the staff made me feel comfortable in a situation where I honestly felt very vulnerable. Nobody made me feel stupid for not going to the dentist in years. Nobody made me feel like I should be ashamed of myself. I was able to ask questions and talk about my concerns without feeling like I needed to explain or defend myself.

I think people underestimate how emotional dental care can be for some of us. Sometimes it's about insecurity, anxiety, finances, or going through a difficult season in life and putting everyone else before yourself.

Sometimes you just need someone to meet you where you are without making you feel worse about how you got there.

That's what I wanted to share with anyone in Agoura Hills who might be putting off seeing a dentist for the same reasons I was.

To all my Agoura Hills people, consider Agoura Hills Dental Designs. I left feeling like I just left my seeing a long time friend who genuinely has the best interest for me and had my front chipped tooth fixed on the first appointment.

I think we all spend time posting complaints about businesses that we forget to recognize the people who make a difference.

If you’re driving east on the 101 the freeway has these gorgeous bushes with white puffy flowers. There’s a ton of them on the exit to Los Virgenes.

Does anyone know what they are? I live farther east and want to plant them in my parkway. 💮
