10-Minute Action: Healthcare/Reproductive Rights/Social Security Reopen the CDC Blood Safety Program & Advisory Committee
https://nomorebadblood.org/Take-Action/
In April 2025, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) closed the program that monitors our nation's blood supply for bloodborne infections.
The last time we didn't have this program operational, hundreds of thousands of Americans contracted HIV and Hepatitis, causing death, disability, suffering, loss of productivity in the workplace, and avoidable healthcare costs.

10-Minute Action: Earth & Climate Don’t help Trump destroy Grand Teton National Park

Major League Baseball is pushing to build a ballpark in Grand Teton National Park. The league approached the Trump administration about staging a game on protected public land, putting an irreplaceable national treasure at risk for a corporate spectacle.
This proposal has already gone beyond MLB’s boardroom. National Park Service Deputy Director Frank Lands visited Grand Teton last week and examined at least three potential ballpark sites. Hosting the game would require building baseball facilities and bringing a large crowd into protected parkland. Trump’s park officials should be protecting Grand Teton, not helping search for the perfect location.
Local leaders are pushing back. The chair of the Teton County Commissioners, Jackson’s mayor, and the head of the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce have warned that even if it were temporary, the infrastructure can fragment habitat, disturb wildlife with noise and lights, and strain park resources, putting the entire park at risk.
MLB brought this proposal to the administration. MLB can withdraw it. By sending letters directly to Commissioner Rob Manfred, we can turn the league’s pursuit of publicity into a public backlash and demand that it abandon the idea before construction ever begins.
SIGN & SEND
---
A game lasts a few hours. Damage to wildlife habitat can last forever -- certainly long after the crowds leave and the equipment is hauled away. Again, even if Trump's Department of Interior only approved a temporary ballpark, that would do nothing to erase the consequences of building it.
Our national parks belong to the public. Generations have fought to protect these places so that wildlife can thrive and people can experience landscapes that have been spared commercial development. MLB has no right to treat that protection as an obstacle to its next promotional event.
Allowing this project would also create a dangerous opening for other corporations to demand access to protected parkland. Every company with a big audience and an expensive event could point to MLB and ask for the same treatment. Imagine: a NASCAR speedway in the Grand Canyon or a monster truck rally in Yellowstone could be next.
While local leaders have raised the alarm, we can help by adding public pressure. Let’s make sure the head of MLB hears from people across the country who refuse to let a national treasure become the backdrop for corporate greed.

10-Minute Action: Human Rights Tell Congress: End ICE child detainment

The cruelty of Trump's immigration policy isn't limited to adults. Within 14 months of Trump's second term, 6,200 children were already being detained by ICE. And 500 of those children were babies and toddlers. And now in Louisiana, this practice of child detainment is being taken to a new extreme.
A former military barracks in Louisiana's England Economic and Industrial Development District is slated to be converted into a 528-bed detainment center for children and families. The groundwater at this former Air Force base has been shown to contain extremely high levels of PFAs or “forever chemicals.”
Even if local activists succeed in fighting this specific center, there will always be another so long as the practice of child detainment continues.

10-Minute Action: Equality Tell Facebook and Instagram to STOP censoring posts about the Cornell rape case

A former Cornell student says 7 fraternity members drugged and brutally gang-raped her. Now, Facebook and Instagram are restricting posts about the case, burying the voices of people speaking out and demanding accountability.
Jane Doe alleges that members of Cornell’s Chi Phi fraternity assaulted her in 2024, when she was just 20 years old. Her account has sparked heartbreak, horror, and rage. Survivors are sharing their experiences. People are demanding answers. These conversations deserve to reach everyone willing to listen.
But Meta is adding warning labels and restricting posts even when they contain no graphic images or language. Those restrictions can drastically limit how widely posts are seen or prevent people from seeing them altogether. Meta is making it harder to confront sexual violence and rally support for survivors.
Zuckerberg and Instagram head Adam Mosseri depend on people using their platforms. That gives us power. We must organize users to demand they stop censoring posts about the Cornell rape case and let survivors and advocates be heard.
Tell Facebook and Instagram to STOP censoring posts about the Cornell rape case now.
Sign and Send
---
Survivors already face enormous pressure to stay silent. Speaking out can mean confronting blame, harassment, and disbelief. Meta’s restrictions put another barrier in front of people trying to share their experiences and find support.
The outrage over this case has shown survivors that they are surrounded by people who care and will fight alongside them. Every conversation can help break the isolation that allows rape culture to persist. Every shared post can bring more people into the demand for accountability.
Zuckerberg and Mosseri have no business burying those conversations. They must lift restrictions on non-graphic posts about the Cornell rape case and stop treating people speaking out about sexual violence as a problem to suppress.
We must bring the nationwide outrage directly to the executives responsible and keep demanding an end to this censorship. Survivors deserve support, and the people standing with them deserve to be heard.
Demand Facebook and Instagram stop censoring posts about the Cornell rape case. Add your name now.

10-Minute Action: Democracy Tell the Census Bureau to count every person in the 2030 Census so we can all have fair representation in government

From Race Forward:
The Trump administration wants to decide who counts before the next congressional districts are drawn. The Census Bureau has proposed a rule that would exclude many residents from the population used to assign House seats and draw legislative districts. Millions of people could be erased from the count that determines their communities’ political power for the next decade.
The exclusion would reach undocumented immigrants and many people lawfully living, working, and studying in the United States. Their families would still send children to school, rely on public services, and live with the decisions their representatives make. But under this proposal, their presence would no longer count toward the representation their communities receive.
The proposed rule would also require tax records to confirm a person’s address before they are counted. That threatens to leave out people whose housing or records do not fit neatly into a government database, including low-income families already at greater risk of being missed. An undercount gives politicians a map that understates the size and needs of entire communities.
The Trump administration is also trying to remove race and ethnicity questions from the decennial Census questionnaire. Those data help expose racial disparities and protect fair representation. If the government stops collecting them, communities lose evidence they need to challenge discrimination and demand accountability.
Racial justice depends on political power. When a community is undercounted, its residents have less power over the decisions that shape their schools, housing, health care, and environment. The Trump administration is attempting to build that inequity into the numbers used to distribute representation.
Black communities and other communities of color have fought for generations against political systems designed to diminish their voice. This proposal threatens another route to the same result: exclude neighbors from the count, draw districts around the smaller number, and make communities live with the loss of representation for 10 years.
The Constitution calls for representation based on the “whole number of persons in each State.” The Census Bureau’s current apportionment count includes residents regardless of citizenship. The Bureau must uphold a full count instead of helping the Trump administration redistribute political power by changing who counts.
Public comments are open through October 13. The Bureau needs to hear that our communities will fight any attempt to erase residents, deepen an undercount, or hide the racial data used to defend our rights.
Send your comment and demand that the Census Bureau withdraw the proposed rule.
Together, we can defend a Census that counts our communities and the political power they deserve.
Tell the Census Bureau to withdraw this proposal and count every person in the 2030 Census.

Tell Congress: Keep the Office for Civil Rights in the Department of Education

The Trump administration is moving the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) enforcement out of the Department of Education and over to the Justice Department through an interagency agreement.
This is part of the campaign to dismantle the Department of Education: firing staff, closing regional offices, and shipping Education’s work to other agencies.
OCR has to review every complaint it receives. That is how 73 million students get justice when a school discriminates. DOJ’s Civil Rights Division takes a small number of big systemic cases. Students need both offices.
The Trump administration already fired more than half of OCR’s staff and closed more than half of its regional offices. Moving enforcement to DOJ would close the path most families actually use.
This is one of 14 agreements to move at least 148 Education Department programs, including an attempt to send special education work out of the department and to Health and Human Services. Congress created the Department of Education in 1979, and it’s up to Congress to keep these offices where they belong.
Congress must use the FY 2027 spending bill to lock OCR in the Department of Education and shut down every interagency workaround.

10-Minute Action: Democracy Demand Congress stop the destruction of the Kennedy Center

After a Federal judge held that Trump could not put his name on the building and the Center’s board could not move ahead with shutting it down for two years, the board immediately voted to shut it down anyway.
The next day Trump said it out loud telling reporters that the Center “will end up being ripped down” if he doesn’t get his way with restoration plans that include prominently recognizing himself with various inscriptions. And now, we have photographic proof that he’s not bluffing.
Congress can’t sit on the sidelines while the Kennedy Center is destroyed. They have ultimate control over the Center and they must do everything in their power to stop Trump from tearing it down. Sign and send a message now.
Representative Joyce Beatty, an ex officio member of the Board who has stood up to Trump at every stage -- from board meetings to lawsuits -- was denied entrance to the building on Wednesday. By this morning, fencing has gone up around the Center and all pedestrian and vehicle traffic around it has been stopped.
The Kennedy Center was created by Congress as a living memorial to President Kennedy and a national home for the performing arts. It belongs to the American people. Yet Trump and his allies continue to treat it like another property he can slap his name on, redesign around himself, and threaten when he does not get his way.
Congress can prohibit federal money from being used to demolish or replace the Kennedy Center. They can change the powers of the board, who can be on it, or how big it is. They can even abolish the board entirely. But they must act now before it’s too late.

10-Minute Action: Equality Submit A Public Comment to Defend Head Start by October 6th

For more than 60 years, Head Start has helped children from families with low incomes enter school ready to learn while connecting families with health, nutrition, disability, and other essential supports.
But now, the Trump administration is proposing to weaken federal standards for Head Start programs. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is proposing sweeping changes to the federal standards that help ensure children and families receive high-quality services no matter where they live.
Your zip code shouldn’t determine the quality of your child’s education. Our partners at National Education Association are leading a campaign to protect Head Start—submit a public comment and tell this administration to preserve strong national standards for children, families, and educators! The window to submit public comment closes on October 6th, so make sure to take action now to ensure your voice is heard.

10-Minute Action: Healthcare/Reproductive Rights/Social Security Demand medical associations publicly report on dangerous and deadly conditions in ICE detention camps

The Hippocratic Oath requires physicians to pledge to “do no harm.” Medical institutions exist to ensure physicians and other medical providers carry out that pledge.
Systemic medical neglect and horrific abuse by contractors is unfolding daily inside ICE detention camps.
Medical institution member providers work inside these facilities. They witness these violations firsthand, and they are bound by oath and by law to report them through the channels the institutions maintain.
The reports reach the offices of America’s medical associations and state licensing boards, but they stop there.
Write these bodies now and demand that they publicly report on the dangerous and deadly conditions inside ICE detention camps.
The abuses occurring inside ICE camps are widespread and horrifying. Examples include:
- Carlos Josue Marchena, a father of four, died at a contractor-run Louisiana facility after staff skipped life-sustaining insulin shots. We only know this because ICE is required to report deaths in custody.
- Wilber Garces Perez was shot by ICE agents and taken to a detention center with the bullet still lodged in his back. He died 4 hours later. We only know this because it was caught on camera.
- Pregnant women are facing severe conditions, such as denial of prenatal vitamins, lack of timely care for heaving bleeding and being shackled during medical complications. We did not learn this from medical providers or governing boards.
We must demand that medical organizations take various steps to inform the public. They must publicly disclose all ethics and medical care complaints in ICE and contractor-operated facilities. They must affirm to all licensed providers that participation in involuntary medical procedures, denial of medication and any other medical neglect constitutes grounds for license revocation. They must call publicly for independent medical inspections of every ICE detention facility.

10-Minute Action: Criminal Justice Ask your state to ban ICE's electric shock gloves
Action item from National Campaign for Justice
We have proof that pressure can move this fight. We sent 9,964 direct messages to California legislators demanding law enforcement, including ICE, be banned from using electric shock gloves. Nearly 100,000 messages have gone to state leaders nationwide.
California lawmakers listened, directly confronting the Trump administration’s plan to put these devices in the hands of ICE agents.
This is a huge victory and a critical step in the right direction, but the threat that sparked this campaign has not gone away nationwide. Trump’s Department of Homeland Security has proposed spending up to $20 million on G.L.O.V.E. devices that deliver painful electric shocks through direct contact and interfere with coordinated muscle movement.
According to reporting cited by the New York Times, roughly 50 police departments across 20 states have already used the gloves. These devices are spreading while basic questions about their safety and potential for abuse remain unanswered.
California cannot be the only state willing to draw a line. Every Governor and state legislature should follow California’s lead and pass legislation prohibiting law enforcement from using electric shock gloves before DHS and local agencies make them a normal part of policing.
SIgn and Send
---
DHS calls these gloves a “de-escalation device.” The technology works by delivering pain to force compliance. Even a California sheriff defending the devices acknowledged the obvious: “Does it hurt? Yeah, it hurts.”
It’s bad enough that ICE wants to use these weapons against non-violent immigrants suspected of breaking misdemeanor immigration law. Putting this power directly onto an officer’s hand creates another opportunity for force to be inflicted instantly and at close range against anyone ICE or other law enforcement feels is a threat. With ICE agents we know that protestors, reporters, and even children have been considered threats.
California’s vote gives lawmakers across the country something they did not have when we launched this campaign: a legislative model and proof that elected officials can move quickly. States can introduce bans, hold hearings, force agencies to disclose whether they have purchased these devices, and make DHS defend its plans publicly.
Police departments in multiple states have already acquired or tested shock gloves, while ICE is seeking to deploy them on a much larger scale. State leaders should act before the first abuse in their communities, rather than explaining afterward why they failed to stop it.
Even in California this fight is not finished. Governor Gavin Newsom still must sign the legislation by September 30. While Californians push him to finish the job, the rest of the country should build on that momentum and make California the first of many states to take action.
Thank you for continuing to fight abuse of power,
- LeeAnn

10-Minute Action: Healthcare/Reproductive Rights/Social Security Tell Congress: Stop Trump’s Medicare Prescription Drug Premium Hike
Tell Congress: Stop Trump’s Medicare Prescription Drug Premium Hike
Millions of Americans depend on Medicare Part D to afford the prescription drugs they need every day.
When Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act, it not only capped out-of-pocket drug costs, it also created temporary subsidies to stabilize Medicare drug premiums while insurers adjusted to the new system. Those subsidies were expected to continue through 2027.
Now, the Trump administration is ending them a year early.
That decision could raise Medicare prescription drug premiums for millions of seniors and people with disabilities beginning next year. For people living on fixed incomes, even modest premium increases can mean difficult choices between medicine, groceries, rent, and other necessities.
Experts also warn that higher premiums could push beneficiaries away from traditional Medicare drug plans and into plans with narrower provider networks and fewer choices.
Congress should not allow affordable prescription drug coverage to be dismantled one administrative decision at a time.
Click “START WRITING” to tell Congress to restore Medicare drug premium stabilization, protect affordable prescription coverage, and stop Trump’s unnecessary price hike.

10-Minute Action: Criminal Justice Urge Your Senators to Oppose and Stop Trump's Crypto Corruption
Urge Your Senators to Oppose and Stop Trump's Crypto Corruption
Last year, the House passed the CLARITY Act (H.R. 3633), a bill disguised as “crypto regulation” that actually serves the billionaires and bad actors at the center of today’s crypto chaos. This bill doesn’t protect consumers, doesn’t close money laundering loopholes, and does nothing to stop the biggest threat of all: Trump’s crypto-fueled bribery machine. The CLARITY Act is being considered in the Senate, and we need to stop it.
Trump has already amassed $1.4 billion in the last year alone, and the latest bill text doesn’t include any meaningful ethics fix:
- It does not stop the main ways Trump has accumulated, and will continue to accumulate, crypto wealth. It would only restrict officials and their spouses from issuing or sponsoring new digital assets.
- It does not stop Trump's ongoing corruption: It doesn't stop his children from profiting off his office, and it doesn't require him to divest from any of his businesses making crypto deals.
ACTION NEEDED: Use this email tool to tell your senators to oppose the CLARITY Act. We won’t let Congress enable more of Trump’s corruption or gamble away our financial stability just to appease crypto billionaires.

Urge Your Senators to Oppose the Military Chaplains Modernization Act!
Urge Your Senators to Oppose the Military Chaplains Modernization Act!
Every year, Congress passes the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the annual bill that funds and sets policy for the U.S. military. This year, the version of the NDAA that the House passed in July included an amendment that threatens to upend one of the military's oldest institutions: the chaplaincy. Now, it’s in the Senate’s hands.
For more than two hundred years, military chaplains have served all service members and their families, regardless of their own faith or lack thereof. Unlike clergy who minister only to their own religious community, chaplains are called to meet every service member where they are, providing spiritual and emotional support according to each person's own conscience-not the chaplain's. That pluralistic mission is exactly what makes the chaplaincy unique.
The Military Chaplains Modernization Act would gut that mission. If passed, it would let chaplains:
- Refuse to counsel or care for service members whose beliefs differ from their own
- Proselytize service members instead of supporting them
- Ignore the actual needs of the people in their care, and pass bad guidance up the chain to commanding officers
- Undermine the trust, resilience, and unit cohesion the military depends on to function
The American Humanist Association is proud to co-lead opposition to this proposal, joined by 40 national religious, civil rights, and civil liberties organizations representing a wide range of faith traditions. We now need you to join us in this fight, too.
Service members, like all Americans, have a constitutional right to religious freedom. Congress has the responsibility to protect that right, not weaken it. Take just one minute now to tell your senators to do everything they can to oppose the Military Chaplains Modernization Act and protect the religious freedom of every service member.
