Step 4: Get a small dopamine hit from crossing one off, decide that counts as progress, and take the rest of the day off.

I rank them by order of importance then start doing the ones in the middle to procrastinate the ones that are actually important. I’m homeless and starving and this technique has not helped me.

Create decoy tasks like "buy a mansion" and "dinner with the pope", they will straight to the bottom of the list since your brain knows they are decoys, but also they will help balance out the top of the list (stop being homeless and eat), actually bringing them to the middle of the list and forcing your brain to procrastinate the ones that are less important, but are now at the top.

Fr ... I do get a dopamine hit from putting a little checkmark next to an item on my to-do list.
I'll break one chore up into 3+ unnecessary parts that could be simply listed as one thing...
e.g. DO LAUNDRY:
• prep pile to bring downstairs✅
• sort laundry✅
• put clothes into washer✅
• toss in detergent pods✅
• start appropriate cycle✅
• set timer on my phone to remember when the wash load is done✅
• clear timer, transfer clothes: a). to dryer or b). lay flat to dry non dryer-friendly materials✅
• select/start appropriate dryer cycle✅
• set phone timer for dryer✅
• forget to remove clothes promptly in spite of said timer and so they get all wrinkly; run another 20-minute wrinkle control dryer session✅
• retrieve clothes from dryer and bring upstairs to fold✅
• fold clothes, leaving ones out that need hung✅
• hang remaining clothes✅Whew, what a day! THIRTEEN items crossed off my to-do list. Woot woot!
(I'm only slightly exaggerating 🤣.. no wonder my ADHD brain thinks doing laundry is tediously tortuous ... soooo many steps.)

Pro Tip:
Include making a list of tasks as the first item on your task list.
Now you can cross off TWO of your tasks!

Hey I should probably listen to some music while I do this
Wow, that song is really cool, let's see what other songs that artist made
...
Read about interesting facts about crabs
Phew end of the day already. Tomorrow I'll do that list.

Too late for only one? Exhausted from thinking about all the tasks at once. Can I have a few days to recover?

Implying I have any concept of time and how long each of them is actually going to take me.

It only took you an hour to make your list? Wow, you must have been in hyper focus!

If not doing it wont ruin my life, I don't do it. Even then, that's not a guarantee lmao

Currently: there are tasks that need to be done. I cannot remember what these tasks are. Brain fog has entered the solar system. But I am eating lunch. This is a total win. Total win, probably.

Seriously! "Make a list of things you need to do. Go into your email, your calendar app, your texts, and add everything to your list. Now crash from physical and cognitive exhaustion and pick up the list thing again next week."

I’m crossing off two things, because I always put making a list on the list.
