Hey everyone!!!
I want to remaster and upgrade an old PC puzzle-platformer = Monkey Brains (developed by Yobro Productions)
I played the heck out of this game as a kid and still have huge nostalgia for it. I’ve recently started working on a passion project to remaster and modernize it but I'm still in the very early stages of development.
Before jumping ahead toward a playable alpha, I really want to test the waters, hear what people think, and see what features you'd like to see
Def don't want to overpromise and I know this is an ambitious indie effort but here are the core ideas I'm aiming to try out:
Since we’re right at the start, I’d love your input:

Hey reddit, as the title already says. It would be awesome if someone could provide me the game files. Maybe some of you guy still haven’t deleted them? Hope is high. 🫠

I recently discovered the GOG website and wanted to know if you’d recommend it for classic games. Also, is it true that they optimize these types of games, making them run better than the versions found on other storefronts? Thanks in advance! 😎🤜🏼🔥

Hey all just wanted to share my project I tried starting it in January 2026 as a way of wanting to bring back the old game however after doing a bit of research while planning this work out I discovered that Zoo Tycoon 1 is actually one of them RollerCoaster Tycoon like games that is basically a single purpose engine built game that has zero references online, no development blogs no technical docs of the engine basically zero traces of the engine online for the decompile and rebuild.
At the time I had AI take a look at it and could only manage a basic main menu screen that took weeks to do. Tried to pick up the pieces and eventually dropped the project because it was basically something I would be paid to do as there was no love to continue banging my head just to try and generate map which is where I got stuck on as it generates the maps via the CPU in real time and has specific binary addresses for the cliffs and ditches and geometry and specific tiling mapping.
Move to Opus 5.5 launch seeing everyone using it to decompile video games I gave it the task that no other AI could do before it and surprisingly it did it in the first 3 hours for the map generation and I was mind blown. Ever since than I have been working on this project and its still early but for others who have reached out to help make this the OpenRTC2 engine that it should be as a fresh brand new 2026 engine I have developed a ZT1 labs which is a purpose built developer mapping software that loads the old game and runs Ghidra in the background displaying everything running in binary and if you click something see it in the binary you turn that into a function, go over to to create a new C++ script and it will have that function there ready to be used as simple intelligence auto suggest which should help speed the progress up much better.
Its not going to be easy but for the Love of the game that I played many hours growing up I am happy to finally doing this and bringing the game up to date in terms of controls and window control and graphical upscaling tools and a full suite of modding tools etc.
Your more than welcome to watch it and see it grow if this game is just as part of your childhood as it is mine.

We know that the PC versions of Trackmania are terrible to run on current Windows systems, and Sunrise also has that annoying DRM that hinders newer Windows versions!!

I started project Reborn to revive a game I enjoy in my childhood, mostly they are mmorpg that already closed down. the first one being Maplestory 2 already in a playable state and recently Emil Chrolonicle Online. The Launcher is already published on github so if anyone want to help with future preservation of abandonware mmorpg are very welcome to join. Everything is free no donation or any sort of that stuff.
I hope you have fun!

For those unfamiliar, those magazines included discs with each issue that usually included a half-dozen game demos for upcoming games. Occasionally they included the full game.
I have 20 or so that I'm imaging now for my own backups--- a few from PC Games and the rest from PC Gamer (after they acquired PC Games in 1999). I'd happily upload them somewhere if there's interest. Where's the best option? MyAbandonware, archive.org, OldGamesDownload, or somewhere else?

Download and play! No installers or extra steps! If you have any issues or questions, I'll do my best to answer everything in the comments. Enjoy!

A new MCP that enables AI coding agents to effectively reverse engineer binaries with popular decompiler suites launched on Oct 7 and has been #1 on GitHub since. I haven't tried it out yet, but basically you connect it up to your agent (e.g. Claude Code), point it at a program, and say "recreate this application using REA" --basically what GOG did the hard way for years. We can now have an agent do what they did in under an hour for some old software and games. I'm probably going to play with it this week to see if I can get some old Win95 titles working under Win11.
Hey, it's killing my career, but at least I get to enjoy some of the downfall.

I’m considering beginning a decompilation effort for Sly 2 or Sly 3 after working on ProjectCane, a native PC reconstruction of the first game.
The primary obstacle is locating an executable with meaningful symbol information. Known prerelease builds may contain debug functionality while still having completely stripped ELFs, so I’m searching specifically for:
.mdebug dataI’m contacting preservation groups and prototype collectors, but I would appreciate advice about other likely sources. For PS2 titles from this period, were symbol-bearing executables more likely to survive in QA builds, localization packages, review media, crash-reporting archives, or mastering materials?
I’m maintaining a list of checked builds using hashes and ELF-section information to avoid duplicating work. I’m not requesting public distribution of copyrighted game data; candidate executables can be identified or inspected privately.

In this episode of Emperor: Battle for Dune, we launch an assault on another Ordos-controlled region. Our spies have uncovered valuable intelligence revealing that the Ordos troops stationed in the area have been infected by a mysterious virus, leaving their forces weakened and vulnerable. However, we must act quickly, as reports indicate that a medical transport carrying a shipment of vaccines is on its way to the region.
After establishing our base and beginning to build up our defences, we dispatch several Trikes to scout the surrounding territory. Their reconnaissance proves successful, leading us to discover a group of Ix allies who could prove invaluable in the battle ahead. Shortly afterwards, we receive confirmation that the medical transport has arrived. Unfortunately for the us, the convoy is escorted by formidable Sardaukar troops, making it a dangerous target. Nevertheless, with the assistance of our Ix allies and a handful of infiltrators, we launch our attack and successfully destroy the medical transport, denying the infected Ordos forces access to the vaccines they desperately need.
With the enemy weakened and their medical supplies eliminated, we begin assembling our forces for a decisive assault on the Ordos base. Time is running out, however, as reports arrive that the enemy troops are preparing to retreat from the region. We must strike before they can escape! Committing the forces we have accumulated, we advance on the Ordos installation with the aim of eliminating as many retreating troops as possible and destroying their base completely. We cannot allow the enemy to regroup and use the surviving installation as a launching point for a counterattack.

I've got fond memories of playing Schizoid in local coop, and recently looked it up to see if it was available anywhere. Sadly it wasn't, and no emulators were able to run it. So I took it upon myself to spend the weekend porting it to Windows and Linux using Claude Code.
I was quite shocked at how easy this was - while I work in IT, my coding experience is limited to basic scripting. Claude has done all the heavy lifting.
I removed online multiplayer, leaderboards, and references to Xbox. I also upscaled some of the graphical elements (mostly UI and background, sprites are untouched - and this can be toggled off), added aspect ratio, vsync, and resolution switching. It's controller-only, supporting xbox and playstation controllers - though it only displays the 360 controller in the "how to play" menu.
I've not done a full play-through to test, but I did have Claude run a lot of automated tests against it, as well as playtesting the first 20 levels or so.
The removed features aren't deleted entirely, just hidden to the user.
Let me know if you have any questions. I probably can't answer anything too technical though, as I was more of a "project manager" than an engineer on this.
