Got me a 1999 1st Cavalry Division Zippo! My '94 one is in much better shape, so now I have one to use. Had to just poke the old degraded flint out. This would be a good one to get repainted one day. It came with one of those leather pouches, too.

Did the old vinegar scrub/soapy rinse/dry/WD40 cycle on the insert and just scrubbed the outer shell with some lighter fluid. Thanks for u/MillionSuns for the ebay link!

I've repacked it multiple times and in multiple ways even filled it a tiny bit but the fluid still evaporates too quickly leading to issues associated to overfilling even when i barely put in any fuel

I regularly drop my zippo if you cant tell, i forget its on my lap and stand. Love the spots where you can start to see the base metal though where it sits in my hand, interesting to see the life of the lighter happen in real time. Just sharing pictures

My son was visiting yesterday and after dinner, we talked and I mentioned something about him using bics when he has a dad who collects lighters, so I gifted him an extra one I had about.

Very proud moment to say the least, even showed him how to maintain a proper Zippo. He was suprised and happy. I like these rare bonding moments with that knucklehead of a son of mine.

Yeah, Zippo didn't make a lighter-cig-case combo ever whereas Ronson and Evans did. Not even a lone cigarette case.

I get my inserts to last about 3 years, but the major surgery only lasts another 6-8 months.

Does anyone have a recommendation for buying new classic inserts, maybe in bulk?

I got a zippo lighter after my father and im curious what its model name. Tried looking it up on google but found nothing.

Being half Thai 🇹🇭 and half Indian 🇮🇳, and born in Jan 1997, I decided to customize a Zippo with two coins.

anyone have any luck shipping zippos from japan to aus? i am really wanting the catwalk zippo shell and i normally import stuff using zenmarket but they are refusing as its a lighter (even just the outer case they still refuse)

The plain one is my grandfather's old lighter. Still trying to get the old flint unstuck in it. I buy new lighters, as you can see, but the vintage ones are my favorite to find! Especially the old advertising ones.

Got another Newport News Shipbuilding Zippo Rule. I've gotta go back to the antique store for the pocket knife (It'll match my older Rule).

According to Zipzipzip, it looks like the one I picked up is from 1978-1983.

Found this in a local shop. It’s suspiciously cheap so I’m not sure if it’s safe or even works. I don’t want to kill my zippo with weird fuel but since normal one costs an arm and a leg in my country, cheaper alternatives do look pretty tempting.

I’ve built a habit of hunting for vintage, metal-engraved Zippos in local flea markets whenever I travel to a new country (one of my favorites so far is a 1991 Venetian brass I snagged at Porta Portese in Rome). To me, each lighter feels like a tangible piece of history and a unique memory from that city.

I’m currently planning my future trips and want to expand the hunt.
