Discussion It's okay to be selfish

We living in borrowed time. It's okay to be selfish, it's okay to put yourself first. It's okay to stop reaching out to people who don't reach out to you. It's okay to want people to give you the same energy you're putting out. It's okay to stop watering a tree that won't bear any fruit.

I dont necessarily agree. Its not okay to be selfish. As you have indicated we have a very limited amount of time on this earth. At the end of it you have to answer based on the fruits you produced...in my opinion the answer is not being selfish The answer is having zero to minimal expectations of cause we can hope for reviprocity but expecting when it is something out of your control is not the best way to go about it Do your part...water that tree...reach out ....what the other person chooses to do with your love and care has nothing to do with you. Its the same thing with asking for forgiveness your role and part is to say you are sorry and stating how you want to restore the relationship... how the other party chooses to do with that its their part ...maybe they need time to process it ,maybe they want revenge, maybe they forgive you but dont want to be friends anymore whatever they choose to do its their own portion of that equation.

We dont loose anything by loving people who are difficult to love. Some trees you will be watering might seem like they are not bearing fruit to you but tgey actually are, Not everyone is like a mango tree that bears fruit in the first year or second year of planting some trees take 5 or even 7 years to bear fruits...some of the fruits they bear arent even yours to harvest, your job is to water that tree....is it hard of course it is but thats life aometimes we have to fo hard things
