Question Where to pick up a UniUni package?
Ordered a present off Amazon and it is being transported by UniUni, the package never made it to my post box and the tracking says 'ready for pickup' in Whitehorse as of a few days ago (don't see any further delivery attempts).
I checked CP at shoppers and they have nothing for me, any idea where in town a package could be held for pickup from this shipping company..?

Politics Shelter at 405 Alexander looks worse than ever: Tents, stoves, etc.
The shelter at 405 Alexander in Whitehorse looks worse than ever. The sidewalk in front of the shelter is now full of tents and tarps. There is garbage all over the sidewalk and into the street.
It looks worse under the Yukon Party than it ever did under the Liberal Party. I am sure this is not what their voters were expecting a year into their mandate.
What has changed? Did Connective just give up and start allowing tents?
In addition to the tents, people are cooking or warming themselves on BBQs or camp stoves on the sidewalk.
Behavior is worse than ever in terms of noise and substance use in public.
Is anyone else really disappointed in Yukon Party's management of this file?
I know they have pledged to "decentralize" services but they haven't done anything yet and it's gotten worse.
Anyone who hasn't seen it recently just drive by and look, it's completely different now.
You have to walk through a tent encampment to access the building.

Discussion Auto Insurance Recommendations
Hello, I’ve just moved to the Yukon and am looking for auto insurance provider recommendations.
I did read an older thread about auto insurance in this group, but it is more than two years old.
Any help would be great.

Question Winter electrical outage - Wistlebend
Hi, can you guys please share some ideas for emergency heating during a winter power outage?
We’re in Whistle Bend, so our house has electric baseboard heating only.
I’ve seen YouTube videos where people make Crisco/lard candles that can apparently burn for a very long time without producing black soot, but AI says candles wouldn’t produce enough heat to actually warm the house or a room.
I’ve also looked at Buddy heaters, but I’m concerned about the carbon monoxide warnings when using them indoors.
What safe backup heating options do you guys recommend?

Politics Yukon premier touts 'improved fiscal picture' in territory with budget update
What exactly are they taking credit for here? inaccurate financial forecasting, a mild fire season in Yukon? I don’t think they’ve done anything directly with their actions to save money or make the deficit better. Had we had an average fire season this year that deficit would have been probably worse than forecast.

Travel Whitehorse hotels
Dear Yukoners, please save me from staying at the best western again. What hotel(s) do you recommend? We come up from Juneau at least once a year, now with twin infants. Price is not an issue as long as it’s clean. Thanks in advance.

Discussion National Day for Truth and Reconciliation events in the Yukon, is it slowing down?
I wasn't going to post something until I saw this headline from CBC North:
"Dozens march in Whitehorse to honour missing and murdered Indigenous women"
Just dozens?
I feel like these events used to get hundreds or thousands of people.
I saw fewer orange shirts this year, fewer people out and it feels like even the routine "government department posts a picture for social media" type stuff has slowed down.
Does anyone else feel the same, that Sept 30 was noticeably smaller this year in the Yukon?
