My background is in 2D animation, so while I have a passion for anatomy, structure and line quality, I've just never gotten into lighting and rendering. Since the Canadian animation industry crashed, I've been working in the trades, but my eventual goal is to get back into the creative industry. I've recently started a new job that's giving me a lot more time and energy for drawing and painting (though fewer hours). In the past weeks I revisited a flat drawing I did and tried to make it into a full render.
Since I started drawing furry art, I've been having a lot of fun! Fur can be extremely fun to draw and paint. I feel like my big problem is rendering other things, like hair and skin. I also feel as though I'm losing structure when I render, though that could just be because I'm trying for a lineless style. I have a friend who's told me I should give up the lineless style and lean into my strength in lineart (which I did professionally for about three years), but lineart is something I find a little tedious, and I don't know how to incorporate it into a full render. That being said, it's still rewarding so I'm open to the idea.
Ultimately I just want to know what I need to do if I want to really lean into this. I've never really sold my own art before, and I'm doing it pseudonymously for now, so I'm essentially starting my art career from square one.

This is fanart I did recently for the artist @/phoksi with their character Phoksi (red and orange) and a random werewolf character.
I struggled a lot at first with the coloring/rendering part where my colors ended up too muddy or not showing the type of extreme lighting I wanted. I eventually changed how I picked colors by adding more saturation and using more ranged values. I still feel that maybe the colors are now a little too saturated and the values are a bit too extreme in some places.
I also honestly stepped away from this piece after a while even though there were still some smaller areas that I could have cleaned up and fixed but I felt that I would be working on this piece for forever if I didn’t.
Any advice on issues that you notice even if not mentioned would be greatly appreciated! I’m really trying to improve on my digital painting skills so any advice or if you recommend I study any exercises/fundamentals/techniques, that is welcome as well!

I mean, is he recognizable from one drawing to another, and dont he look like a different character somehow?

Title; is this bad or good? Is it low or mediocre quality, or how?

I spent quite a long time on this drawing, but I'm not even sure if it looks good. At first I thought I did pretty good, but now I'm not sure. Also I'm thinking about changing the way the Kobold looks as I've had some people mistake the kobold for a child, that Kobold is an OC I made and he's like, 27.

Help me out here guys :(

The really real answer is that I should study shading and rendering specifically.
I just kinda smeared a low-opacity dark color in places I thought would be shady, and a similar light color splashed onto a few places I thought might get more direct light.
I guess I'm kinda asking if it turned out "acceptable".

I was testing out a different style of lineart than I usually do, using a mono width pen instead of just a round brush. I liked the result because it reminds me of using micron pens back when I did traditional, but I'm unsure if I really prefer it to my usual methods. The second image is how I usually do lineart, and I like that method a lot because I can have less bold lines and tapers when I want to. Like the abs for example.
I can go either way, but figured some input would be appreciated.

I feel that hands and head are a little too small, and wanted to know if it is so, or if there are more wisible mistakes in proportions. Thanks in advance for any help

The animation looks off? anyone know how to help me with that?
the movements feel too jittery, doesn't help that i don't use a proper art program. Is this any good for anyone or is there things i can do to make it look better?

I struggled a lot with the lighting especially on the black stallions dick and the light going through the door which seems so flat. What could have improved it?

You guys rock, you're helping me get better, and I'm loving it. Drawing I did today vs drawing I did a year ago.
