I'm watching a small group of friends LP .hack and it reminded me how XS1 really was my introduction to dubbing in a certain way. Of course I had seen Pokemon and DBZ before and I had even played Final Fantasy X. But Xenosaga had the kind of "usual suspects" you will see in almost anything Japanese of the 2000s.

Lia Sargent, Richard Epcar, Michael McConnohie, Dave Wittenberg, Crispin Freeman, Kirk Thornton - they are everywhere in stuff of this time. Others like Sherry Lynn and Bridget Hoffman aren't as common but I still went on to hear them in Tenchi Muyo or Fushigi Yuugi. I remember being blown away when I finally watched Rurouni kenshin and clearly heard Wilhelm as our hero. Oh and of course Virgil was Sano in that show, too.

For the next decaded or so, every time I heard a voice in a JRPG or an anime, it was almost always "Oh, I know them from Xenosaga!"
