I will never not understand when people say they see no fashion and clothing differences between today, the Twenty Tens and the Aughts. A lot of these would look too garish and ridiculous today + the side parts are out of style for women

I have so many fond memories (no pun intended!) of playing this card game with my grandparents, particularly my grandma. They lived just down the street and my sister and I would go over there all the time. Even after Grandpa had had enough and went to go watch Murder She Wrote, Grandma would continue to play with us as long as we were interested. I miss them both so much. People today tell me I have a “freakishly good” memory and honestly I kinda credit playing games like this so much as a kid with helping to develop it.

Or maybe because you were waiting for the show that was on next?
Drew Carey was sandwiched between episodes of the Simpsons so I probably watched it like 5 nights a week.

So a Teen Girl Squad image showed up in the Angelina handwriting post for some reason and nobody was mad about it and that got me wondering if HomestarRunner was a micro-generation thing and maybe even possibly a geographical thing?? Or did all Xennials love it? For me and my college friends, it was deeply loved in Athens GA, 2000-2002. What about you?

My parents let me rent this when I was 5. I had nightmares for days. It scared me for life. Thank you mom and dad.

EDIT: Well I feel like I need to add a disclaimer here because a lot of people are just reading the title or misunderstanding what I'm saying. I am NOT saying that there's no good new music. Not saying that at all! There's lots of new music that I love! And I'm not even necessarily saying that what I'm describing is inherently bad. What I AM saying is that I feel like it's a lot harder to listen to music made in the last 25 or so years and identify when that music came out by sound alone. Basically it seems like this has all been one long "era" as opposed to past decades that all had their distinct sound.
Original post:
By this I don't mean that there's no good music after that. I'm not a Boomer, here! There is in fact a ton of new music that I love.
But if you listen to songs from the '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s, etc...you can pretty clearly identify that those songs come from a distinct era. But I feel like the majority of music released in the last 30-ish years sounds like it could have come out at ANY point from the mid-90s to now. Like I would rarely be able to listen to a song released during that time period that I had never heard before and pinpoint approximately when it came out.
Is this just because I'm old? Did we hit a point where there just wasn't much new to come up with musically that hadn't already been done? Is this why (referencing another thread I made here recently) everything released after the mid 90s feels like "recent" music to us? Lol.

I grew up thinking of Stevie Wonder as not cool, chalked him up to 'I Just Called To Say I Love You' because that was on the radio a lot (overplayed) when I was a kid. But in my late 20s I saw an old video of him playing 'Superstition' on Sesame Street and it was amazing. Now in my mid 40's I vibe so hard with albums like Innervisions and Hotter Than July. Interested in hearing others opinions on Stevie. However, if they're negative, I ain't gonna stand for it, baby.

Hot Cross Buns, anyone?? 😂
I believe we were forced en masse to learn the charms of the recorder in grades 4/5 which for me would’ve been around ‘90-‘92 (born in ‘81). It’s blacked out, but the piece of masking tape on the case has my name that I wrote on it when I was in elementary school, when I still crossed the J in my first name. 😭 And check out this hip hook of contemporary tunes! (I think this was actually for our Yamaha keyboard back in those days, but it was also a fun little find.)
Also found my middle school yearbooks. Going home tomorrow now that I am feeling confident about my recovery, but maybe tomorrow morning I can try and unearth some more of my childhood treasures before I leave. ❤️
