From time to time I see videos, comments, or posts stating the Sapporo is a terrible destroyer. If you're trying to use it as destroyer and compare it to destroyers, yes, you're going to have some negative results. It's not a destroyer, not in function and not in the lore. It's listed as an explorer, I suppose you could categorize it as an expeditionary ship like the Hyperion, even though the functionality is different. What I have found it to be exceptional at, is a as a utility ship.
First, the Sapporo has phenomenal radar range. By itself, that is very helpful in a lot of standard settings, and for niche uses such as locating newly spawned Kha'ak outposts on the outskirts of a sector. If you have it, run the circumference of a sector, that 80 km range radar will often pick up the outpost location. If it doesn't get it on the first go around, expanding the circumference when the sector adjusts almost always find it.
Second, that extreme radar range is linked directly to cargo drone range. The big thing I really like to use them for is extremely gates. You can park the Sapporo 80 km from the HC1 gate and it will hoover up all of the drops with little or no risk to itself.
If you're determined to use it as destroyer, and I have, it works well in small groups where the massive burst damage of the missile barrage can be utilized. Individually, I've also found success with using seven very durable bombers (Shih or Kalis without the launcher installed, Muon disintegrators for the weapons), and intermittently firing individual missiles at the target destroyer in order to keep interrupting the shield recharge. The bombers do the work (well, bombers without bombs), and the Sapporo just makes sure that the shields don't have a chance to recharge. It's not a great solution, but if you really want to use it that way, you can.
With all that being said, play how you want to play, have fun. If this all looks like nonsense, then just ignore it.

So it used to be that xenon ships actually came through the gate. They would come through the gate at speed and slow some distance out from the even horizon, so you could place a defense station there to guard the gate. Now however, I keep seeing K's and I's just teleporting into the system instead seemingly without even coming through the gate, and they often appear far enough away from the gate and the station defending it, that they just bypass it completely by being out of range.
Is this behavior a change they added to 9.0? I can't imagine one of my mods did this, but maybe I suppose. Either way it's infuriating that they just get to cheat their way into my defended systems.

Just me, declaring war on blocky mega factories.
This is a large scale protein production facility on edge of the nebula where its resources are being mined - enough to make every food factory in the galaxy choke on its output!

So, from what I've read, I should be able to split my Zeus Vanguard's fleet into different Defend Position groups but the option is grayed out forcing all Defend Position ships to the same group (and thus the same position defense). I'd like to be able to split them up to cover my destroyers as they spread out during station demolition without setting them to intercept where they decide to get into fights close to the station's turrets (Defend Position has 20km movable range compared to centered 40km range for Interception). Defend Position is a carrier unique assignment that is only available when the carrier is the fleet commander. What's the trick to creating new groups?
I'm using mods but I don't believe any should be creating conflicts with orders/assignments or ship AI. Regardless, here's my list:

Every ship whether it'd be M/L vessels, regardless of what faction the ship is (I've tried TEL, ARG, PAR), when assigned to my station are stuck in a "looking for trade" loop. The image is just an example of a freshly purchased ship but I have tried manually docking them at the Player Station before assigning in case it might have been a pathfinding issue.
What im struggling to understand is nothing is different from this ship/ships I've purchased in their settings vs the 19 already assigned that appear to be working as intended.
I do not think its a lack of docking space, I have 6x 3-dock E shaped piers and 63 M spaces.
The manager is 5 star and I have both ARG and TEL trade license's so I don't think it's unable to find a suitable trade for my wares.
All trade rules have been set to no restriction.
The most likely cause I can think of the manager deeming trades inefficient. I don't think its this as Ive seen these freighters haul as little as 100 antimatter. Even if this is the case, is there a way to override the effeciency logic?
I believe theres no limit to ships under a manager but is there a soft limit I don't know about? As in only able to operate 20 ships simultaneously?
UPDATE: The Helios has now moved to act on a trade, but a Shuyaku is now immobile. Does this support the soft cap theory or does is it meant to take an extortionate amount of time to find a trade?

Hi! I am new to the game and honestly to the genre itself and I just want to ask for advice about what mods should I be using.
I already played like 240 hours with a non VRO playthrough and I got to a point where I am printing L and XL ships and it's kinda getting boring now.
So now I want to ask what mods should I be using to feel like I am a pilot and not a manager.
Basically I want a VRO playthrough now but I want to ask what would be good together with it if I want to achieve the following:
- I want to almost always stay a pilot with an S or M ship
- Make getting L and XL ships more difficult and therefore more rewarding
- Make L and XL ships rarer even for npc's
- Force me to avoid cheesing money making (for the reasons above)
- List of ships that are lore and vro friendly.
So yeah If you guys have more ideas I am open to it but I would like something that would let me focus on being a pilot more than a CEO.
Thanks!

Version 1.0.2 is now up on Github pages. This release includes a backend LUA/MD communication to a non-paused local X4. Backend is only possible running local so go to https://github.com/millyon197-source/X4.git for downloading and starting the install with Start.bat. The backend just provides more visibility to assets of the game. One can still construct a blueprint to save and import to game to get "Shuffle Modules" arranging the layout. Enjoy and do make a comment if you like.

After 86 hours playing, I can't imagine playing without SETA and Teleportation. It make the game less tedious. And so many other QoL mods. I suppose I lean more toward Empire building/Grand strategy style than personally piloting ship.
Can you guys show me what modlist do you use?

Ok so I have played x4 for awhile but never truly played it to build up and have a dedicated ship that I personally use and given how certain functions are “locked” by a captain’s skill level I haven’t really played around in vanilla much or really done the true empire building aspect of the game yet
So my question is twofold how do I get the most out of using a controller and what’s some tips you recommend for flight im definitely wanting to run the envoy once i get the DLC as having a full interior would be rather immersive
My second question is more what mods you recommend if any I used tetertrade (probably spelled it wrong) for universe traders to great success and I definitely want quality of life and just generally enhancing the core experience so that way if i eventually do get into the larger mods i have some mods already as like my “main” mods

I'm a newbie to X4 on my first campaign. The learning curve has been a steep climb, and I have spent more time reading Reddit and querying LLMs than I have been playing, but I'm 20 hours into my save, have 10 M miners, 4 traders, a scout and my personal combat ship, the Katana. I have my PHQ with two other stations on 9.0 with all DLCs and Timelines.
My question for you experienced players is what would you use as a mobile squadron composition? How many Interceptors, Heavy Fighters, Corvettes, Frigates, etc? I'm NOT looking for a fleet for taking out a station or taking on a Carrier Fleet. I want a Squad of 10 or 20 ships that I will eventually purchase the blueprints for and build, so long-term I can construct stations that build those materials. I don't want any L/XL ships, for speed reasons, but a composition that I could use for rapid response, patrol or a small raiding party. This would be a bunch of ships that I would build over and over throughout my campaign as I lose ships. I hope that is enough detail. I have been searching for the answer without any luck, so maybe I'm missing something important. TIA

Does anyone know what domain the verification codes come from? I would like to add it to the allow list on my email because I'm pretty sure the verification email is being blocked by my provider.

I'm on a ship with full crew but they're not visible, besides the pilot (which I don't have since it's my personal aircraft) is there away that I can make them visible at least a couple of them? Is there a mod or a setting in-gameel
Edit: other thing even station are empty I never see people that I can hire manually

On reddit it seem like there are player who spend 1000+ hours with no SETA, that's crazy.

I made a free Windows tool for building X4 stations in 3D with the game's real models, DLCs and mods included. When you're done, click Export to game, then Import in the station build menu. No mod needed, no restart.

Some of the planner ideas come from GHOSTau's great Station Planner mod; go check it out too.

You can get the 1.0 from Releases page
Feedback welcome, especially whether optimized stations build fine in game!
