Mod Post Got a writing-related Discord community? Post it here!

We're going to try to keep it all in one place; for the time being we're going to only allow Discord communities to drop their links, description, and details in this post. Any others will be removed.

Keep in mind this is for community adverts only; if you're just using Discord as a single writer as a preferred method of contact, then you're all good.

This post will repost monthly, so you can link your Discord community once in each new post (once a month).

Rule 6, creepy behavior, and bans

To protect the people here really looking to write there are a few things I want to clarify:

  • Rule 6 violations are a permanent ban. Any rule 6 violations are automatically removed anyways, so it's a moot point to even try.

  • Thinly veiled attempts to get around rule 6 are a permanent ban, unless they are super clever, then they are still a permanent ban but I may chuckle.

  • Creepy, unnecessarily pervy behavior in posts that make it clear you're not in it just for the writing CAN result in a ban, and will result in removal of posts.

  • If you're a minor posting, the post may be removed if it contains too many personal details. It is requested that you do not reveal your age before finding a partner, but this is mostly for your protection not because you did anything wrong.

  • if anyone finds a partner, or sees someone, acting inappropriately, let the mods/me know. If it happens in DMS/off page then it may be best to get the admins involved, but I'll help where I can.

  • Try to put personal details that aren't relevant to the finding of a partner, but may impact a partner you have found, out of the public comments/posts. I try to remove emails/phone number/personal drop box links/etc when I find them, but I can't find them all.

Finding a writing partner should not rely on specific gender. It should be about writing style and genre. I realize there are a few cases where finding a woman/man/non-binary/etc might be appropriate, but that needs to be explained in the body of the post, and not at all in the title.

Thanks for coming to my Sned Talk; lets continue keep this sub safe for people here. As always, I appreciate the people here and how quick they are to bring things to my attention. It really is appreciated.

Misc. Seeking partner for writing help.

I'm writing a fantasy setting story with a letter/penpal journal format. But I've noticed it kind of works better if I have someone to actually write to. I'm not sure if this counts as roleplay or beta work, but I really need the aid of another person.

The setting is 'Disney meets Dungeons and Dragons', also heavily inspired by Kingdom Hearts and the podcast made by friends of mine, 'The Wonderful World of Darklords.' (If you like both or either fandoms, check it out!)

Please comment if you are interested or have questions!

Discord Plot Idea (23F)

Hiya,
23F Looking for potential role-play partners to help me bring this idea to life, or build a similar world in which we take on. The genre will be Romance/ Slice of Life. The plot I am wanting to try out is a young woman (me) gets pulled over by an officer. I am ticketed for speeding and reckless driving. The reason why I will not disclose yet. You give me the ticket and we have a little bicker back and forth. I challenge you which you are not used to, fast forward to the next week we run into each other at a bar. You approach me and you are off duty. We can go from there….

Sidebar: Also for my more adventurous writers a plot that is still in the works, but i’d be highly interested in doing is like a futuristic/ alien romance. Maybe some enemies, like from different planets. I just have like a Guardians of Galaxy/ alien vs predator thing in mind. Or I could even be human, and i’m taken by a species from your planet and we just cross paths and I have no idea… like where it’s going but basically some space romance. Also your alien can be a shape shifter or whatever, just something really cool.

OOOOH or someone can even do an avatar roleplay with me…. the movie one with the big tall blue creatures.

Minors do not interact/ F4M, F4N, F4F

Roleplay Longterm Advanced Literate Partner Search!

Hello everyone!

Before messaging me, please make sure you’ve read my post carefully so we’re on the same page and can avoid any confusion later on.

My name is Stitch, I’m a 22-year-old male, and I’ve been roleplaying for around 7 years now. I write in first person, and I usually do at least 5 paragraphs, though I can definitely write more if needed!

I’m open to both original and fandom-based roleplays, and I’ll list my fandoms below:

• Disney Pixar Cars (Craving)

• Sonic (Craving)

• Solarballs (Craving)

• Winnie The Pooh (Craving)

• 2003 Silverwing Series (Craving)

• The Jungle Book: The Adventures of Mowgli Shonen Anime Series! (Craving)

• Illumination’s SING (Craving)

• Zootopia (Craving)

• How to Train Your Dragon (Craving)

• Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart (Craving)

• The Lion King

• Lilo & Stitch! (Craving)

• Super Mario Bros (Craving!)

Since I’m 22+, I’d prefer my RP partners to be 18+ for comfort and maturity reasons. I’m specifically looking for partners who also enjoy first-person writing, as that’s the only style I use. I’d also appreciate it if you’re able to write at least 4 paragraphs or more to keep the RP interesting.

Please note: I don’t double up on characters. I’ve never done it during my time roleplaying, so I hope that’s okay!

If fandom roleplays aren’t your thing, I’m also very open to original plots especially adoption stories. One of my favorite plot ideas involves a human being adopted by a different species. I’ve always found that concept really interesting and enjoyable.

Important rule: Please don’t block or ghost me out of nowhere. If you’re no longer interested, please let me know! I’m always open to communication on how we can improve things to make it fun for the both of us

If you’re interested, feel free to message me! We’ll go over the details in DMs and then move to Discord once everything’s set!

Discord Anvil & Quill—A writing group based in the Philippines

Welcome, dear reader. If you're reading this, chances are, you are Filipino as well. So let me not waste not your time! :)

Upon browsing Reddit, I saw that there are plenty of writers in/from the Philippines, despite the ongoing literary crisis, and I saw the potential to form a writing group made by Filipinos, for Filipinos. It'll be awesome. Trust me, my kababayans.

Now, if you're wondering, "What's up with the cool frickin' name?"

That's because everyone here is either a wordsmith or is striving to be one. If you're a Filipino who is dedicated to the craft of writing, you're more than welcome to come on over! In fact, you're the kind of individual we're looking for!

Fear not if you're a casual writer or a hobbyist, you're also welcome in here! Come on over! Let's all write, write, and write together!

It matters not whether you are a novelist, an essayist, a poet, or even an article writer. Hop on in, friendly faces! It matters not also if you write in Filipino/Tagalog. English is not the only language we speak in this country after all.

Genre/s: Fiction or Non-Fiction, it doesn't matter. Words are words. Writers are writers. At the end of the day, we write. That's where it starts and that's where it ends. In other words, just join.

Goals/expectations/commitment: Be active, that should be enough. If no one's active, not much will happen, nor will there be a community. Giving feedback, reading groups, writing prompts. We'll do it all.

Writing/experience level: Beginner writers, intermediate, advanced, whatever. As long as you write a lot.

Meeting place: For now, in the Discord server. But later, it can be somewhere in U.P. or someplace else. Let's talk about it together eventually. :D

Max size: Sa ngayon, tayo-tayo lang muna. Hahaha! Kala mo hindi ako marunong mag-Tagalog noh? But one day, this will be a closed and exclusive writing group.

Leave a comment or send over a DM to join the Discord server. See you over there, friends!

Roleplay Meet Me Under the Mistletoe | A Cozy Roleplay Search

Hey there, and welcome!

You can call me Inky. I'm a thirty-something-year-old lifelong nerd with a love for reading, writing, gaming, and getting hopelessly invested in fictional characters. I'm looking for a committed writing partner who shares my enthusiasm for stories that are warm, heartfelt, and just a little bit cheesy.

I want characters with histories, hopes, and fears, whose lives extend beyond their budding romance. I want ordinary people finding extraordinary happiness, and love stories that make you smile at your screen, occasionally clutch your chest, and mutter something along the lines of ...

Oh, you absolute idiots. Just kiss already.

Most importantly, I want a writing partner who's excited to bring these little worlds to life.

If that sounds like your cup of peppermint hot chocolate, then please, read on!

I. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM ME

Before we get carried away planning our fictional wonderland, here's a little about my writing style and what I hope to find in a partner.

I write exclusively in the third-person, past tense, and I'd describe my style as advanced literate. My replies can range from a few substantial paragraphs to well beyond Discord's character limit, depending on the scene. I'm not particularly concerned with matching an exact word count. I'd much rather write an engaging response that gives us something to work with than pad a reply for the sake of length.

You don't have to write exactly like I do. Different styles can complement each other beautifully, and I'm far more interested in finding someone whose enthusiasm matches mine than someone who writes exactly like I do.

Communication is important to me, too. If you're busy, need a break, want to change direction, or have an idea you'd like to explore, please tell me. Real life comes first, and I'd much rather have an honest conversation than feel as though either of us has to maintain an unrealistic schedule.

Ultimately, I'm hoping to find a long-term writing partnership that we're eager to return to because we're genuinely excited to see what happens next.

II. THE STORIES I WANT TO TELL

This is where things get exciting!

My biggest craving is for Christmas-themed slice-of-life romance, with the holiday woven into the characters' lives rather than simply serving as a pretty backdrop.

I want the first snowfall, twinkling lights along Main Street, bustling Christmas markets, last-minute shopping, and the traditions that make the season feel special. I want a fictional town that feels lived-in, with familiar faces, community events, and perhaps a few overly enthusiastic residents who take holiday decorating far too seriously.

Most importantly, I want our characters to have reasons to keep crossing paths. Shared responsibilities, mutual friends, overlapping routines, or a family connection that makes avoiding each other practically impossible.

I'm particularly fond of slow burns, second chances, unexpected connections, a little angst, and the wonderful clichés that make romantic comedies so much fun. I want our characters to have lives, relationships, and personal struggles beyond their romance, with plenty of opportunities for personal growth and the occasional emotional gut punch.

I'm open to all sorts of pairings and dynamics, and I'm more than happy to brainstorm something completely different if inspiration strikes.

III. PLOT BUNNIES

The following ideas are starting points rather than rigid plots. We can change the characters, combine tropes, switch up the dynamics, or use them as inspiration for something entirely our own.

1. A Stranger Under the Christmas Lights

A chance encounter brings two strangers together in a picturesque little town during the Christmas season. Perhaps one is a newcomer finding their feet in an unfamiliar place, while the other is a longtime local who knows all the best spots in town. Between visits to the local coffee shop, holiday errands, and helping organize the annual Christmas festival, the two gradually become part of each other's seasonal routines.

2. Home for the Holidays

Once inseparable, two childhood friends drifted apart as life took them in different directions. Years later, they find themselves back in their hometown for Christmas, surrounded by familiar faces, cherished traditions, and memories of days gone by. Perhaps one has returned to help with the family business while the other is considering a fresh start somewhere new. As they revisit old haunts and rediscover forgotten traditions, they begin to wonder how much has changed and what might still be waiting for them.

3. A Familiar Face

Having grown up around the same family gatherings and holiday traditions, two people have known each other for years through a mutual friend. Their paths rarely crossed beyond the occasional celebration, but this Christmas brings new opportunities to spend time together. Between shared errands, family preparations, and helping with a local event, they discover sides of each other they never noticed before.

4. A Little Christmas Cheer

A busy single parent is doing their best to balance work, family life, and making the holidays memorable for their child. When a new caregiver or family friend enters the picture, everyday routines begin to look a little different. From school activities and festive baking to decorating the house and preparing for Christmas morning, the newcomer gradually becomes a welcome presence in their lives.

5. A Letter Before Christmas

A misplaced Christmas card, a letter delivered to the wrong address, or a local holiday pen-pal tradition connects two people who might never otherwise have met. Their correspondence begins with simple seasonal greetings and gradually develops into conversations about everyday life, favorite traditions, and hopes for the coming year. Meanwhile, their paths cross in the real world without either realizing who is on the other end of the letters.

Of course, these are only a handful of possibilities!

I'm equally happy to explore other familiar tropes, put a fresh spin on an old favorite, or start from scratch with nothing more than two characters and an intriguing premise.

IV. THE POSSIBILITIES DON'T END THERE

Although Christmas romance is my primary craving, I'm not opposed to exploring other seasons, settings, or genres if the right idea comes along. A cozy autumn romance, a summer spent in a seaside town, a small-town love story built around a local festival, or a tale about two people rebuilding their lives after an unexpected change could all be wonderful.

The Hallmark aesthetic is an invitation, not a rulebook.

I'm not looking for someone who simply agrees with everything I suggest. I want a partner who brings their own imagination, enthusiasm, and perspective to the table; someone who gets excited about their character, has ideas to contribute, and wants to see the story grow into something neither of us could have created alone.

V. A FEW FINAL THINGS

If you've made it this far, thank you for reading my rather extensive love letter to Christmas romance and writing in general!

I hope this gives you a sense of the stories I'd love to tell and the kind of writing partner I'm hoping to find. I'm looking for something cozy, heartfelt, and collaborative, with room for laughter, meaningful character development, and the occasional wonderfully romantic cliché.

If you're interested, feel free to send me a message. Tell me a little about yourself, what you enjoy writing, which of these ideas catches your attention, or what kind of story you've been wanting to explore.

Bonus points if you've already got a character, a favorite trope, or a gloriously cheesy Christmas premise just waiting for an excuse to escape into the world.

I'm ready to break out the hot chocolate, turn on the Christmas lights, and start brainstorming.

After all, the best stories often begin with a simple question:

What if?

writing about loneliness, alienation, or estrangement (in any sense of the words) - PM me!

hi there - I am a grad student, and I am creating a journal for a school assignment. the theme for the issue is estrangement. (In the traditional sense, relating to distance/alienation in familial and romantic relationships, or more obliquely, loss of identity, estrangement from one’s belief system, or however else you may interpret it!) I am hoping to feature a combination of previously published and emerging writers in my journal, and I have three open spots for content, whether fiction, nonfiction, poetry, or art!

the main benefit of participating is having your work shared with the instructor, who edits a lit mag! PM me if you’re interested in learning more. 😊

Roleplay Demon Slayer RP NSFW

I want to do a Demon Slayer role play that takes place through the whole series. The role play would focus on harems/poly relationships. It would be a double-up with our role plays taking place in AUs. In my role play, some of the characters will be genderbent. Some of the demons of the upper moon will be Hashira (they’d be replaced by some of the lower moon demons that died earlier in the series like Mukago, Wakuraba, etc.) My OC would be isekaied into the universe from the real world.

  • I am 25. I will not role play with minors. Please confirm your age when messaging me.
  • I consider myself literate to advanced literate. I write what’s necessary but my replies tend to be longer. I adjust to my partner.
  • There will be adult themes: drinking, drugs, sex, etc. All characters will be over the age of 18.
  • Please send me a writing sample when messaging me. If prompted, I will do the same.
  • I’m looking for someone who can respond at least once a day. I’ll try to do the same.
  • I only role play on Discord.
  • Please be able to play multiple characters for group scenes. I will do the same for you.
  • 3rd person, past tense only.

Roleplay Whiskey Kisses & Bulletproof Hearts | Country Superstar × Mafia Heir Bodyguard | Enemies to Lovers | Dark Romance | Longterm | Discord

Female looking for a male writing partner!

Hey there!

I’ve been roleplaying for upwards of 10 years now and I’m looking for a partner. I generally love doing dramatic, smut filled roles, I really enjoy having a partner who is open to ideas and can contribute his own ideas as well! I love having a partner who can brainstorm with me! I generally can write a good 2-4 paragraphs depending on where we are in the role.

I usually stick to original characters but depending on the fandom can branch out. I enjoy supernatural/fantasy, time period pieces, forbidden romance, or occasional slice of life. I also only roleplay in the 3rd person and can handle multiple characters as needed for background characters. I also use face claims exclusively! (AI for the most part).

——-

She’s America’s country sweetheart. He’s the disgraced son of a notorious mafia family. She sings love songs for a living. He’s spent most of his life believing love gets people killed.

And unfortunately for both of them, he’s just been hired to keep her alive.
Savannah Grace Bennett, 27, is Nashville’s golden girl. A petite, blonde, sharp-tongued country superstar with a heart of gold, a mischievous streak a mile wide, and an unfortunate habit of treating complete strangers like lifelong friends. Raised in a loving Tennessee family, she’s more comfortable in cowboy boots at her daddy’s mechanic shop than rubbing elbows with Hollywood royalty.

But when an obsessive fan rushes her stage and an increasingly dangerous stalker begins threatening her, Savannah’s manager decides she’s getting a personal bodyguard. Whether she likes it or not.

Enter Luca Matteo DeLuca, 34. Tall, tattooed, devastatingly handsome, and about as friendly as a rattlesnake with a toothache. Once the heir to a powerful New York mafia empire, Luca was disgraced and cast out after a family betrayal resulted in the death of someone he loved. Now working in private security, he’s determined to leave his bloody past behind him.

Protecting a spoiled country singer should be simple. Except Savannah isn’t spoiled. She’s sweet, stubborn, ridiculously funny, and apparently determined to shorten his lifespan through sheer aggravation. She calls him Sunshine.

He calls her Princess. She thinks he’s an insufferable, overbearing jackass.

He thinks she’s a walking security violation in cowboy boots. Neither realizes how badly they’re about to fall.

And while Savannah’s charming rockstar ex secretly orchestrates the threats against her, Luca’s own dangerous past threatens to resurface. Because falling in love with the woman you’re supposed to protect is dangerous enough.

Falling in love when two different monsters want to destroy your happiness? That’s a whole other kind of trouble.

⸻

What I’m looking for: Someone to write our brooding, morally gray mafia-heir-turned-bodyguard opposite my sweet, sarcastic country singer! I’m looking for a story-driven, long-term romance filled with witty banter, forced proximity, delicious tension, protective instincts, emotional vulnerability, family drama, danger, and plenty of slow-burn chemistry.

I love collaborative plotting, detailed writing, complex characters, and a healthy balance of romance, humor, angst, and action. Luca’s history and personality are intentionally flexible so you can make him your own!

Themes: Enemies to lovers • Forced proximity • Mafia romance • Celebrity × Bodyguard • Opposites attract • Touch her and die • Found family • Hurt/comfort • Slow burn • Dark secrets

After all, what’s a little country sunshine without a dangerous storm to fall in love with? 🖤

Experienced writers only please! Also I always vet my partners before exchanging discords! Thanks!

irl gender is unimportant to me

MxM Preferred via Discord

It is 1989 and the collapse of the Soviet Union is a few years away. Conditions are not great, not terrible. Many people leave for other countries (UK, USA, Other European Countries), this where your character meets Dimitri Petrovich Vasiliev. A Soviet expat now living in (TBD). he is a 20 year old artist who hopes to someday be recognized among the greats. Dimitri is also gay and living in a time, coming from a country that frowned upon said reality. Arriving with family and the burdens that come with a family. He is the main breadwinner.

Hi everyone I am Jude! I am a 29 year old trans guy from California USA. I have been roleplaying for 15+ years and I love history! I have been known to break the discord limit and my proffered platform is discord.

I don't expect you to know much about the history, I won't ask that you name every historical figure but I hope for some reality.

\\\Honestly\\\ I'm just looking for an excuse to play my dear Dimitri. He seems very intense but is in reality a big softy with parental issues and internalized homophobia. ****I am pretty much willing to play him in any scenario***, I do love me some historical drama.

A bit more about how I rp/what I hope:

I do not fade to black, I hope for romance

I have no interest in furries or scalies etc

Pinterest boards and a shared spotify playlist

I do like to translate some spoken words into russian, but I have no problem not doing that.

Preferably not set in the United States but I am flexible on that. (I'm just sick of this place!)

Some heavy topics and darker themes, drugs, smoking, etc etc. Everything can be discussed.

✨✨Vibes✨✨ I live and breathe small town vibes, spooky vibes, sad boy vibes, anger issues. Small town, a small town you can't escape emotionally. The overwhelming fear of being caught. Being an outsider, lying to yourself and the people you love most.

Please just let me play my Sad Soviet Boy.

Seeking Writing Accountability Partner / Body Double (Literary Fiction & Academic Writing)

Hi! I'm 24F, beginning work on an African American literary novel. I have a bachelor's degree in Creative Writing and am interested in pursuing graduate studies in Literature and/or African American Studies.

I'm looking for a consistent writing accountability partner/body double. Ideally, we'd meet virtually every weekday, or at least four days a week at a mutually agreed-upon time, to work independently on our respective projects. At the end of each week, we could share whatever passages or pages we feel comfortable sharing as a way of celebrating progress and keeping each other accountable.

With the holidays approaching, I know schedules may be changing, so I'm happy to try different days and times for a couple of weeks while we figure out whether we're a good match and the arrangement works for us. I'm in the Eastern Time Zone and would ideally prefer to work before 9 a.m. or after 6 p.m. However, I'm flexible, so please don't hesitate to reach out if afternoons work better for you!

I'm not necessarily looking for a critique or editing partner, though I'm happy to offer feedback if that's something you're interested in. I'd also love to occasionally talk about our projects, discuss what's working or not working, and bounce ideas off each other.

I have ADHD, and I've found that I work much better when I have a scheduled appointment to show up for rather than having to initiate writing on my own. I'm hoping to find someone who feels similarly and would benefit from having that regular structure.

I'd especially love to connect with other Black women writers or scholars, though I'm open to anyone with similar interests and goals. If you're working on literary fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, or graduate-level literary studies, I'd love to connect!

Beta Reading Beta reader search fatigue

Are you tired of searching for beta readers everywhere you can think to look, only to find no one?

Are you tired of sending your manuscript to someone and then they never respond?

Are you tired of waiting three weeks for a response and then getting AI slop in return?

Well, I have the solution for you! Well for 3 of you.

I have a 28K word fantasy novella that I would like to hear opinions on. It is a mosaic ensemble piece where each chapter follows a different POV. In exchange, I will read and comment on your work. I will provide progress updates and ask questions about the work as I go through it. DM me with your word count, genres and a small blurb about your work, and I will give you a semi-accurate completion estimate. My time is limited though so I only have three spots available right now, so act fast. All beta readings come with a free no AI guarantee.

Act now to take advantage of this special offer!
