Decklists 22 random bullshit decks for the last 5 days of Violet Hold

• Upvotes

As always dont get dustbaited these are mostly for fun decks. And dont take the attached decklists as gospel, i mostly need pretty pictures to go with the concept of the deck. Cards in similar netdecks, or cards i just mention in the text are probably better inclusions, but it takes much more time to optimize 20+ decks instead of just throwing shit at the wall.

Also im dropping some spicy Black Empire theorycrafts soon, but i had to get these out of the way because i was like 95% done a month ago then got sidetracked so it was now or never since a new set is coming. So you can thank me for not unleashing these tier0 meta destroyers on wild earlier.

1. Tower of Sawbones DK

AAEBAfHhBAKVzQOVogYO374Dm80Dn80DhfYEkpMFkZcGkqAG1uUGupUHn54H4rEHrNoHtNoHptwHAAA=

Usual Sawbones stuff but with Tower of Ghouls for OTK potential. You shoot it and rush it in with Rocket Augmerchant, Pen Flinger, Broom, and Soulrest ceremony. And you buff the Frail Ghouls with Arms Dealer, Soulrest Ceremony and Grave Strength. You can also bank a Ghoul for the otk with Tour Guide or Corpse Cannon, and Broom helps you trade away stuff to make room for six or even seven Ghouls.

Tower of Ghouls by itself sets up Acolyte of Death and Sawbones, especially with all the cheap little pings. And all the board buffs also give you kill potential with whatever you play on a Sawbones turn.

Some other cards to consider: anything from normal sawbones lists, MOTHER, Acolyte of Pain, Barrens Blacksmith, and the new Xel'noth Behemoth + Death Growl is worth looking into.

//////////////////////

2. Egg Attack DK

AAEBAfHhBASFF8nCAvWYB9edBw3w4wSX9gTYxgXzyAWQgwbJkQbOnAaSoAa7sQaXggfgnQeSpAebxQcAAA==

You use Vicious Bloodsworm, Gruesome Nightmare, and Outfit Tailor on eachother along with Brann Bronzebeard to put an exponential fuckton of attack on a minion, usually an Egg or a Frail Ghoul. Cattle Rustler hits one of the 4 hand buffers, and you can play it on 8 mana with Brann to immediately do the combo. All these buffs can be used individually to crack your Egg of Khelos, ideally on the turn you play Umbra. Another neat combo is going Threads of Despair + Death Growl on your Egg + a minion to the left and a Frail Ghoul to the right, getting you 2 more Eggs and a big board clear that also gets you a couple layers closer to Khelos. (also let it be known i came up with this jank before the Gruesome Nightmare in King of the Underbelly combo popped up)

Some other options: Maiev/Emperor or more handbuffs for better OTK setup, Saloon Brewmaster for bouncing handbuffs or getting a Frail Ghoul in hand, Orbital Moon, Corpse Explosion, Infested Breath, Sawbones, Speaker Stomper, Fistful of Corpses, Hollow Hound, Samuro, Staff of the Endbringer + 2 Command Claw + 2 Runeforging, Husk, ETC.

//////////////////////

3. Spammy Egg Basher Warrior

AAEBAQcEycIC5bAE150HstgHDRbYAtQExvUDpY0EjLcEjtQE5OQFjr8Gg50H4J0Hj7EHnsIHAAA=

  1. Basher + Armorsmith = holy board clear
  2. Egg of Khelos + Umbra = holy stats
  3. Destructive Blaze + Spammy Arcanist= holy pew pew

The 0 cost spells enable all 3 combos. You have 2 Finleys and 2 All You Can Eat for From the Depths highroll shenanigans (something juicy is bound to get reduced when you put 3 decks into 30 cards, right?). The 2nd Finley lets you swap hands back and forth and guarantee From The Depths reductions on what was in your hand when you played the first Finley (Usually a Basher and a Blaze since theyre guaranteed from All You Can Eat)

Hogger makes the Egg stuff much more consistent, Precursory Strike has 7 activators and can be used on the Egg in a pinch, Charge lets you go face with Basher or a 20/20 and can also be used to pop an Egg. Theres also some overlap between the combos like Spammy Arcanist helping you pop Eggs or make a big Basher without an enemy board, and Armorsmith thrown into a Spammy+Blaze turn for some armor.

Some other options: Endbringer Umbra, Maiev, For Glory, Axe of the Forefathers, Call to the Stand, To the Front, Kindling Elemental, Aftershocks and other usual warrior stuffs.

//////////////////////

4. Basher-Inator Warrior

AAEBAQcGkbwCk9AD/cQF+L0G69YHstgHDNQEpLYDlc0DvuIE8M0FzpwGuqUGjr8GsesGtI8Hg50H1aYHAAED2AL9xAWj7wT9xAXRngb9xAUAAA==

You pull Warpteeth with 1 drop Pirates + Broom/Ominous Nightmare/a Risky Skipper proc. You have the Armorsmith + Basher combo, and Axe of the Forefathers/Broom/Skipper to kickstart the Armorsmith when you dont have a minion on board to bump. Armorsmith also goes into the Replicator-inator mini + Armorsmith + Risky Skipper + Razorfen Rockstar for hundreds of armor combo. And you can even make it work without Skipper with Axe and Nightmare.

Alternatively you pop off with Anima Extractor, buffing your hand a ton. Charge lets you finish the game with a Basher or a big handbuffed minion. You do have 2 Replicators so once youre sitting there with 250 armor you have time to assemble the 2nd combo.

You also have 2 Barovs with 8 good activators. And 2 ETCs which is somewhat clunky but having 2 chances to draw Dirty Rat/Tight Lipped Witness on time is nice, and the 4 mana tax on a decent toolbox doesnt matter when youre sitting there with 10 turns worth of armor.

Some other options: Finley+From the Depths and Charges maindeck, Odyn, ETC God Of Metal as an otk with Replicator mini+Broom and Riot! to go both with this combo and the Basher one, Timeline Accelerator, Magatha, Roaring Applause, Light of the Phoenix, Battle Rage.

//////////////////////

5. Draenei Warrior

AAEBAQcE2AKRvALr1gey2AcN/wOktgPAuQOVzQOVqgW00QWW0wbf3wbk3wa44ga/4gbC4gb74AcAAA==

We finally got more draenei support in the form of Cannonmaster. You do usual Warptooth warrior stuff in the early game, handbuff your Draenei with Crystaline Greatmace and Crimson Commander, and send them face with Unyielding Vindicator, Charge, and Expedition Sargeant.

Could also play more ways to pull Warpteeth, Stelwart Avenger, Stranded Spaceman, Shieldmaster, Ashtongue, Cup o Muscle, Finley, All You Can Eat, Dissolving Ooze, Bloodsail Cultist, Corporal, Shieldbreaker, Frozen Shadowveaver, Wizened Truthseeker, Amalgam of the Deep, Bloodsail Deckhand, Space Pirate, Treasure Distributor, Parachute Brigand, Hozen.

//////////////////////

6. Deepminer Pirate Warrior

AAEBAQce+w+CsAKRvALpsAOktgOO7QOV9gOvoASQtwTipAWVqgX9xAW00QW6pQavqAb8qAbQsAaUvwatxQax6wbr1gey2Ael4Aem4Aen4Aeo4Aep4Aer4Afw4Af74AcAAAEDw+oC/cQF95cG/cQF0Z4G/cQFAAA=

Trying to milk the most value out of Hogger possible. You get both the early tempo of 2x Patches and Warptooth, and the crazy lategame of double Reno Lone Ranger, Deepminer Brann + Crowley + Astalor + ETC. Theres so many good pirate/enrage cards at this point i got decision paralysis instead of having to scrape the bottom of the barrel for uber garbage filler.

Other options: Renathal, Ancharrr, Tuskar Thrawler, Defias Cannoneer, Pufferfist, Caricature Artist, Polkelt, Greedy Partner, Ominous Nightmare, Searing Fissure, Jam Session, Imbued Axe, Ball and Chain, Broomstick, Adaptive Amalgam, Tent Trasher, Light of the Phoenix.

//////////////////////

7. Cute ETC Warrior

AAEBAQcIkbwCzt4Dre4D2dAFx6QG69YHstgH++AHC7MBt2ziygKktgOVzQPP0QPE3gOVqgW00QWX+wWW0wYAAQPwswbHpAb2swbHpAbu3gbHpAYAAA==

Hogger gives you 2 E.T.C.s Gods of Metals so you dont need to do any shenanigans with Battleworn Faceless/Bloodsworn Mercenary/Sudden Genesis/Replicatorinator. You go 2xETC and a ton of 0 drops with a Broom for 4 face dmg per attack. In theory you can Roaring Applause on the combo turn to dump 2 rounds of 0 drops with 2 Brooms for upwards of 40dmg. But the usual combo for just 5 mana should be enough most games due to Warpteeth chunking the opponent. Broom and Risky Skipper get out Warptooth very easily with all the 0 drops, and you can also do ETC+Broom as a sort of Savage Roar (+Solar Eclipse with 2nd ETC to stretch the comparison).

Roaring Applauses and Steam Guardians give you consistent draw. Kindling Ele and Frequency Oscilator turn your Amalgams into more 0 drops. Im trying the 5 2/4 Zilli over other versions since it can be played for 0 mana pre Broom on the ETC turn, and having a 0 mana mech for Roaring Applause is nice since theres no Target Dummies (can also come in clutch to get down a 0 mana Tent Thrasher when you have a duplicate tribe in your 5 minions).

You can also run Riot! for the combo but it interferes with Steam Guardian, and you already have good damage potential when they let you get to 7+mana and assemble pieces. Some other options: Town Crier, a couple more 1 drop pirates and Parachute Brigands, Armorsmith+Replicatorinator+Razorfen, Murkwater Scribe, Dryscale Deputy, Tortollan Storyteller, Finley, All you can Eat, and other usual cute and enrage warrior stuff.

//////////////////////

8. XL Cute Zarimi Priest

AAEBAa0GBpG8ApfvBOmoBrrOBrDJB4jdBxHuEbds4soCmLYDz9EDhoMFlaoFyKEG6qgG66gGltMG94MH8ZsHkqQHhL0HtcAH1uAHAAA=

You go Maiev+0/1drops to set up Zarimi next turn. The 0 Drops also work nicely with Follow The Ghosts and Tortollan Storyteller. Cleric of Scales gets you The Ghosts, Scale Replica for Zarimi and refill/Zarimi procs, or Hold Them Off (stabilization makes sense as the third piece of the swiss army knife, and having a buff is always nice for making use of the mana on your extra turn for some more reach). And you can always resort to good old Gorgonzormus Cheese for big minions with Zarimi.

Some other options: a Darkbishop Benedictus version, Raise Dead, Greedy Partner, Amalgam of the Deep, Parachute Brigand, Hozen, Cloud Serpent, Starlight Whelp, Duskbreaker, Amber Whelp, Razorscale.

//////////////////////

9. Noz Emp CTA Paly

AAEBAZ8FBtn+Asf5A4SWBbyPBpWiBuXBBwyIDvfQAvjSApHkA9WsBJmOBvWVBtGeBvWvB+LBB4PCB5r8BwAA

Inspiring Maul is the nuts with Nozdormu Bronze Aspect, but just one Maul payoff isnt enough so theres also Emperor Thaurissan. The discounts let you otk with Chillblade Champion + buffs + Battleground Battlemaster. And all the pieces are usable independently, even Battlemaster as an old school way to surprise lethal when they let a couple minions stick with Crusader Aura. Flight Maneuvers also doubles up on the Emperor discount when it combines so you can easily drop it on the same turn as Noz for a big board.

The slower gameplan and big lifesteal potential fit better with xl cta paly but it dilutes the whole gimmick so its hard to justify over stock lists (similar story with the next deck).

Other options: Toreth, Ursine Maul, Drakkari Enchanter/Sandfury Aura, Gift of Luminance, Taldaram, Razorscale, Blessing of Wisdom, Gold Panner/Astral Serpent, Tigress Plush, Adaptation (just hit Windfury bruh), Seal of Blood, more draw, some secrets.

//////////////////////

10. Tyr CTA Paly

AAEBAZ8FBMj4BYv+BfD+BuXBBw2MAYgO+NIC2P4Cg94DkeQDzusDwOIEwoIGroMGvI8Gwb8GmvwHAAA=

Getting Bronze Noz + Toreth on the board at the same time is suuuper annoying for the opponent, and Tyr and his Tears do exactly that. All the secrets are perfect for protecting this board. Hi-Ho is the third paly minion so youre getting a bit of draw out of your resurrects. You lose out on some speed compared to normal cta, but Trapdoor Spooder and Nerub'ar/Razorscale with all the secrets and divine shields can make up for it by completely locking down some decks. Order in the Court (plz unnerf blizzard) fixes the problem of wanting a streamlined package of strong minions to res, while also needing to draw all those specific one offs for the deck to work. Also be careful of polluting your res pool with a hero power.

Some options: Renathal, Ursol, Amitus, Crystology, Inspiring Maul, Gift of Luminance, more normal cta paly stuff like Beams and Showdowns, Ursine Maul, Gold Panner, Funkfin, Liadrin, Corporal, Wickerflame, Tigress Plushie, Drakkari/Sandfury Aura, Taldaram, Trinket Artist.

//////////////////////

11. Ethereal CTA Paly & 12. Boogie Showdown Judgement Paly

AAEBAZ8FAA+IDuIR+NICkeQDyaAE4aQEwcQFhY4GmY4GvI8G9ZUG0Z4G5OoGwI8HmvwHAAA=

Boogie Down and Call to Arms in a 30 card deck naturally means youre running a lot of minions so your spell pool for Ethereal Oracle isnt polluted with secrets and whatnot. The dream is the Oracle buffing your Beam to 4dmg and fetching you Solemn Vigils.

Other options: Eredar Brute, Liadrin, Tigress Plush, Stoneheart Vindicator, Bronze Noz, Gold Panner, Flight Maneuvers, Toreth, Violet Treasuregill, Rally, Sanguine Soldier.

//////////////////////

AAEBAZ8FAsekBuXBBw7TAeyMA8mgBOGkBMHEBYWOBpmOBryPBvWVBuTqBu3qBsCPB7qWB5jdBwABA/GzBsekBvazBsekBu7eBsekBgAA

Similar concept to the last deck but more consistent and scammier Showdowns turns. Sea Giants, Eredar Brutes and Zilliax all get dropped for cheap and are used with Judgement to kill with a board of random tokens.

Some other options: Solemn Vigil, Crusader Aura, Greedy Partner, Terrorguard Escapee, the new card Titanic Thrasher.

//////////////////////

13. Maul Egg Judgment Paly

AAEBAZ8FAA/TAYgF4wX6DYm0Atn+AsSJA72mA8zrA6CZBcDEBbjFBbyPBvbBB5jdBwAA

You put Judgement on a Sea Giant or a minion buffed by Disco Maul, along with Eggs on board and chargers from hand. Its pretty bad but very fun when it works and you probably already have the cards so enjoy terrorizing gold 4.

Some other options: Sandmaw, Nozdormu the Timeless, Haywire+Ticking Zilli, Bronze Noz, Fire Fly, Drone Deconstructor, Cloakscale Chemist, Worgen Infiltrator, Platysaur, some single target buff, Treasuregill+Showdown+Beam, Eredar Brute.

//////////////////////

14. Double Odd Paladin

AAEBAZ8FBJG8Ap74AszrA+jFBw1G1AXTE7jHApvNA+PrA8HiBP3uBMDEBZT1BerEBrHrBraHBwAA

You stack buffs on a (Charge) Pirate or a Silver Hand Recruit then double the output with Sailboat Captain/Arator. Even just a couple Dudes sticking for 2x Conviction+Arator is +24 damage out of nowhere. Its much faster than other Odd paly builds, but doesnt have that lategame power of building 5 big boards in a row. Though if some slow control deck lets you chill for like 10 turns you can just otk them (can you tell im just nostalgic for those 2021 chinese odd paly lists with 1 mana Adaptation, Conviction, Blessing of Might, Knight of Anointment, Crystology and 2x Deckhand, 2x Boar. Just casually doing 20dmg from hand on turn5 like youre prime miracle rogue)

Other options: Lightfused Stegodon, Righteous Cause, Deputization Aura, Crystology, Spiteful Sous Chef, Mistake, Level Up, Seedcloud Buckler+Bronze Noz.

//////////////////////

15. Hostage Odd Paladin

AAEBAZ8FBoUXjtMCnvgCqfUGnd0HhOkHDNMTuMcC5e8Cz4YDm80D+aQEweIE/e4EvPAEhY4GorMG5OoGAAEBwr4Gnd0HAAA=

Have you every thought "This 40% winrate with Hostage paladin is too much for me"? Well have i got the deck for you. Time Outs and the whole Uther Exodia crammed into Odd Paladin, with 10x Tidepool Pupil snuck in by Beatrix.

You can also use the Pupils to spam Promotion or Jury Duty, and Singalong Buddy/Blackwald Pixie work for spamming recruits. Stoneheart Vindicator and Ethereal Oracle help you get the Time Out, and theres Miracle Salesman and a couple one cost spells to activate Oracle and the Pupils.

The usual odd paly stuff can absorb some early game aggression before you pivot to hostage, or let you get under combo decks, or grind down slop piles that just disrupt your exodia.

Some other options: Prismatic Beam or some other clears that let you scam board based decks after a couple Time Outs without needing to execute the full exodia- like Anachronos, V'ama, 9 mana 6/5 Zili, Insatiable Devourer, Enter the Coliseum. Also: Knight of Anointment+Armaments+Mankrik, Bronze Noz, Sphere, Emperor, Curator, Coldlight Oracles, Deios (works both as Brann or Singalong as long as you have enough mana/discounts), Crystology, Card Grader, Crushclaw Enforcer, Magatha, Overplanner, Portal Vanguard, and the new 3 mana draw 3.

//////////////////////

16. XL Boardlock Muradin Shaman

AAEBAaoIBsuFA5fvBP3EBdumB9+mB+WmBxHsjAOo3gPE+QOVkgTckgSvnwSNtQT3ygWQgwazjQbplQacngbRngakpwbrqQbCvgb44gYAAQOZ+wL9xAW42QT9xAXp7Qb9xAUAAA==

You can Hex the opponents whole board with the help of Conductivity, Zentimo, Triangulate, Tidepool Pupil, and Thralls Gift. You also have Saronite Taskmasters and Worgen Roadies as extra ways to give them bricks, and Dirty Rat to force a minion out to be Hexed. Windchills remove most of the opponents power when they can only play a couple minions a turn, and they also work nicely with the Conductivity effects. Once the opponent is stuck you either solo them with Kiljaeden, open up their face with Starfish and chip them down, or kill them with Doomhammer+Rockbitter2.0

Conductivity+Stormstrike gives you +9 attack which is already 24dmg with the Hammer. You can also Conductivity+Electra+Stormstrike for +18 attack (goes off fully even if all 3 targets die before the 2nd half starts). Florist and Greedy Partner bank some mana for this combo and the whole hostage gameplan. The opponents little taunts can ironically help with the otk by giving you targets for Stormstrike. But if theres too many of them like when youre killing from the full hostage position you can get through them with Starfish or Avatar Form (another insane synergy with Conductivity when you have 3 minions that can attack).

Some other options: Turbulus for Parrot Sanctuary and Birdwatching, Finley, Terrorguard Escapee, Magtheridon, Static Shocks, the new card Unnatural Cold.

//////////////////////

17. Big Warrior & 18. Sulthraze Big Warrior

AAEBAQcG2AKoqwK/zgT2owax/Qay2AcMv8MC6ucC+YwE0awEjtQEn54G6Z4G7KkGlr8G6qcH/K8H0LIHAAA=

Hogger gives you 2x Thunderbringer, 2x Neptulon, 2x Tortolla and 2x Y'Shaarj. You can get out big boys as early as t3 with Food Fight + Burning Heart/Hit it very hard. Sudden Genesis copies them, ideally Neptulon for surprise extra hands, and can even OTK with Charge when you have an Entree or Thunderbringer waiting to pop. Theres also Gather your Party as backup, t6 for Thunderbringer inception is still gamewinning

You can also play Crowd Control, Sphere, Ryecleaver, Ultragigasaur, Rattlegore, Axe of the Forefathers, Slam, Searing Fissure, and some of the new Old Gods.

//////////////////////

AAEBAQcGqKsCwLkDv84E9qMGsf0GstgHDO8HiIcD+YwEjtQEmu8En54G6Z4G7KkGlr8Gv+EG6qcH/K8HAAA=

Same thing but with Sulthraze as a wincon. Theres nice overlap with attack buffs for the Sulthraze otk also enabling Food Fight, and the Food Fight token itself is another way to give the opponent minions for Glory and Sulthraze. Also the new card Anvil of Reshaping fits perfectly here (could recruit on turn 2 if you also put in something like Safety Goggles)

//////////////////////

19. Maly Dragonlord Rogue

AAEBAaIHCLQDn7AC/eEC3voC5bAE9MkGpdgHiNkHC/W7AruuA6H0A/efBMGhBb/3BZTKBozWBqX8Bs2bB42+BwAA

Dragonlord rogue but with OTK potential. You get up to 4 Briarspawn attacks + juiced cheap spells with Malygos. Other than being face damage, Ghostly Strike and Si7 Extortion are 1 mana cycle, and Oh Manager can help you get out the Necrium Apothecary especially with Preparation. They can also be used to pop the Apothecary if you dont have Eat The Imp/Necrium Blade and the opponent doesnt have a 5+ attack minion (the whole "play Apothecary and pop it next turn" strategy works better here than in regular lists since youre giving them time to play minions for Briarspawn and you have all the mana needed to send spells face)

Theres Finley, 2x Sheltered Survivor and 2x Gear Shift to toss back Dragonlord and stuff like Aya or Maestra. Whirlind Stormdrake can clear big minions so your Briarspawnz dont kill themselves and send as much damage face, as well as being 16 damage presented when you highroll an early Apothecary.

You can also play: Deadly Bribe instead of Eat the Imp and Maestra, Serrated Bone Spike, Gone Fishing, Candle Breath, Sleepy Dragon, and the new card Shadow Dance.

//////////////////////

20. Roach DH

AAEBAea5AwqdvQKQ5AP39gOw+QOkgQacmgaKqgeSqgeTqgeSsgcK1MgD1tEDy90DivcD8rEEpeIE5OQFxfkF38AGk+gHAAA=

Havent seen this deck since it came out even though it got Dark Bribe as rly good support. Also the amount of tokens in the meta walks right into Throw Glaive.

0 mana spells are key for getting the combo online early, or even doing it without the Deadeye (same goes for 1 mana spells hit by questline). Broxigars portals are perfect for cycling along with Throw Glaive or Through Fel and Flames, and the 12/12 charge is just the cherry on top.

Some other options: more 0 cost spells, Twin Slice, Illidari Studies, Acrobatics, Warglaives of Azinoth + Multi Strike/Going Down Swinging for some Gonk action, Razorglaive Sentinel, Renathal.

//////////////////////

21. Reno Seedlock

AAEBAf0GKNwK+g7DFpa9AufLAvLQAvjQAvr+Ao+CA/yjA5XNA5vNA9fOA8HRA5PkA4jvA4T7A4+fBOWwBJfvBP3EBa3pBc76BeOABsSeBtCeBtGeBqOgBsSiBq+oBpWzBpXKBqfKBsnkBtGCB9+CB6mIB4SZB47cB9LgBwAAAQPRngb9xAXDuAb9xAWq6gb9xAUAAA==

Were getting closer and closer to reno seedlock being a viable variant. Even stock lists run like 10-15 one offs so why not go all the way. Theres a decent replacement for almost everything, but you do gave to give up stuff like Mass Production and Tachyon Barrage.

Some other options: Starfish, Plague of Flames, Imployee, Fracking, Fine Print, Razorscale, Okani, Bygone Doomspeaker, new Kazakus, Elise the Navigator.

//////////////////////

22. Turbo Leoroxx hunter

AAEBAR8GuwW2uwOPzgPT+AXO/AbxvwcMgAf/ugOpnwSNkgWNoQbqpQbOwAbQwAadtwfRwAfexAfX2gcAAA==

Hunter has an absurd amount of efficient draw now with Supply Run, Underbelly Network, and Tame Pet. Parrot Sanctuary and Tolvir Carver boost out your Leoroxx fast so you can kill on t5 fairly easily.

Theres also a couple Snipes to bully combo mirrors. I had Dun Baldar Bunkers in with more secrets like Pressure Plates and Zombeees but it causes hand space issues along with Supply Run. Stranglethorn Heart is mostly there for the tradeable but it also gives you a way to win through Dirty Rat, or in games where youre forced to Leoroxx to survive.

With all the new good hunter utility theres a lot of other rly bad combos that become a lot more playable. Tol'vir getting beasts to 0 mana particularly enables Brann+Ramkahen Wildtamer for 6x value out of any battlecry beast like Shockspitter, slightly buffed Getaway Kodo (or Ebonscale Scout with Cloud Serpent + Darkscale Broodmother for some mana and activating the Scout). Can also do handbuff+Always a Bigger Jormungar with Hollow Hound/Cave Hydra (Defias Smuggler is another useful tool, basically Castle Kennels thats a minion for tutor purposes). You can also do an imbue version of Hound/Hydra, Getaway Kodo or King Plush. Theres also stuff like Young Dragonhawk + Devilsaur Mask (+Shando Wildclaw), Hodir + Replicatorinator + Boars, Knuckles (turning 10yo soon, do you feel old yet), Brann + Cloud Serpent + Emeriss, and various King of the Underbelly combos.

Guide Kael'thas Dungar Druid Guide

19 Upvotes

Hey, kvlt here with a guide to by far my favorite deck in the current meta. I spent some time developing this list since the Ysiel nerf and finally feel like I have enough games under my belt to teach others how to play it. Having peaked at rank 3 and finished top 10 multiple seasons (surely rank 1 eventually), I can safely say the deck isn’t strictly bait. I'd expect this deck to remain competitive in the new expansion, although I don't think it gains any new cards as the list is perfect (I might force Efflorescence, but I don't see it being great in this).

The List:

AAEBAZICCLQDrroDiYsEl+8En/MFl6AGg6EGi+IGEF/kCIfOAo/2AvDUA4rgA66fBK7ABNXSBPrdBJqgBomhBu+pBtW6BqqvB9nEBwAA###

Why Play this Deck?

This deck is the best counter to both Thief Priest and Questline Demon Hunter, while remaining competitive into other archetypes. Since the miniset, I have played 276 games with this list at top legend MMR on both NA and EU servers. Here is a breakdown of the matchup spread and how to pilot against the common high legend decks.

Matchup Breakdown

  • Death Knight: LMAO.
  • Demon Hunter: Fairly easy. Most games are against Questline DH, with occasional Highlander DH (shoutout Pers). Ramping is arguably the best counter to Mana Burn in the game, making a ramping combo druid a natural predator here. QL DH often relies on you making a board for them to trade into, so they will often AFK while you safely ramp to your combo. If they do present early pressure or a board of brutes, cards like Pendant of Earth and Heartroot Stones let you easily heal past it. Prosecutor Mel'tranix can be annoying, but you can usually play around it by keeping a proactive play on the left side of your hand (like Nourish, Pendant, or Stones). Don't over-respect it, though—a 4-mana 2/6 is terrible tempo and skips their turn just as much as it might skip yours. Innervate and Lightning Bloom are great for playing around Mana Burn, and Guff on curve completely strips Mana Burn of its text. The matchup usually boils down to racing their Aranna turn, which you are faster than 75% of the time (apparently), though occasional DH nutrolls are simply unbeatable for any deck.
  • Druid: This list beats every other Druid archetype. Auctioneer Druid is common, and you beat them in a uniquely petty way: gaining 57 armor. That’s the entire game. If you cross that health threshold before they combo, they lose—and this deck builds armor faster than they can assemble their pieces. Deios Druid is much harder as it's a pure race to the combo first; armor gain slows them down, but mostly you just have to race. Reno Druid is heavily favored for this deck unless they Geist you, or you get caught by Blackhorn. You should be faster 90% of the time.
  • Hunter: ICANT.
  • Mage: Difficult. It feels manageable, but then they generate a random secret that annihilates you. Try to be smart and play around common secrets: find Nightshade Bud, Renathal, and Dungar; cast Aviana off Bud; then feed Renathal into the secret before playing Dungar. Most of my wins come from either comboing before secrets come down or carefully navigating around them, and popping them before they can get their stall loop started. Don't play around Objection if it delays your combo; it's rarely worth giving them more defensive turns. Try to pop them at 1 HP if they get Ice Block up so you can hero power them through a second one, and save a Swipe for Lone Ranger. Good luck—even with years of Malygos/Ysiel Mage experience, I still struggle here. An example of what can go wrong: https://www.twitch.tv/kvlt____/clip/NurturingAlluringAsparagusBibleThump-mEcPsEZhksWH8f4f
  • Paladin: CTA/Mech is the worst matchup. It entirely revolves around whether they find Crusader’s Aura on curve. If they drop it on 4, you die. If they don't, you win! I've also lost games to Oh My Yogg! deleting an entire turn. Riveting gameplay. Libram Paladin is much easier (though nonexistent now), but it's another zero-thought matchup: they curve out and kill you, or they find nothing and die. Focus on just ramping and largely ignore their board as it is strictly a race that you will likely lose. Just delete Paladin from the game already.
  • Priest: Majority of the games are against Thief Priest, but a fair number are against Shadow Priest as well. Shadow Priest is very easy; your healing completely invalidates their burn-based gameplan. Playing Shattered Reflections on Eonar is an instant ez win, or you can just control their board with Ultimate Infestations and Kael'thas. You don’t even need to kill them, because you can simply win on sheer tempo. You can also win by copying their own lifesteal minion, which gives you a ton of healing so you can ramp behind it safely. Thief Priest is a great matchup, but not so straightforward. Not a single one of those droolers knows how to play Dungar Druid, and even if they did, you’re faster than them the majority of the time (seriously, most Hearthstone players prefer not to think when they play). Their only real tech is The Harvester of Envy, but our deck runs very little burn, making it unlikely they copy Malygos and your 4 burn spells. Plus, they can’t discount your Swipes, so they always pay full price. UI is too expensive for them to easily copy without Kael'thas, and our combo has too many moving parts for them to steal effectively. If they do manage to snatch Malygos, you have a cheeky card called Shattered Reflections to simply steal it back for 5 mana. I’ve found that I win the majority of the time after they steal my minions, because they don’t actually present lethal on board or with burn—leaving them with a full board of Eonars that can’t attack and 2/3s that do nothing. Just save your Solar Eclipse and Moonbeams to easily kill them without Kael'thas if the game gets to that point, or just out tempo them since they can’t deal 5 damage to a wide board after an Eonar-Solar-Shatter play (and Whirlpool isn't commonly included at top legend). They don’t have any real tempo aside from KJ, so you can just beat their ass down as they continue to cast Birdwatching with zero minions left in their deck. Another possible out (though I haven't gotten to do it yet) is playing Shattered Reflections on their Ceaseless Expanse or KJ, which is a surprisingly effective wincon with Guff down, playing similarly to the late-game Thief mirror.
  • Rogue: Dead class. The few games I've played were against Miracle Rogue. You lose if they highroll early, you win if they midroll or lowroll. If they Shadowstep Cult Neophyte or similar disruption, try to ramp past it—all you need is Malygos down to Swipe away their board and win on tempo.
  • Shaman: Also a dead class. Mostly Big Shaman, which is so embarrassing to lose to that I got clipped for it. You're typically faster, and your backup wincon is casting Shattered Reflections on their big minion. As you can see here, I should've just solar shattered their Nep but I suck so: https://www.twitch.tv/kvlt____/clip/CallousTenaciousNoodleSwiftRage-9ozW21nre4k87Obl
  • Warlock: I hate this class. I've gone from thinking that the Tik Tok Warlock matchup is unwinnable, to not that bad, to unwinnable again. Then I realized the entire matchup is decided by the coin: if you have the coin, you win; if they have the coin, you lose. Truly the epitome of skill! They often chain tech cards that time-warp you, preventing you from comboing, and follow it up by discarding your hand. That said, they usually kill you around turn 5, which is right on the edge of your combo timing. Treat it as roughly 50/50 depending on the coin flip. The occasional Seedlock or Discolock matchups are free wins; Discolock plays out like Shadow Priest (though slightly harder if they go wide early), and Seedlock doesn't threaten lethal until around turn 8. Just don't lose to Malygos getting ratted.
  • Warrior: Another tough class. If you're following along at home, this deck struggles against wide aggro boards. The best way to win is to draw Biology Project in the mulligan; if you don't find early ramp, you'll often be dead by turn 4. Play Biology Project aggressively (turn 2 with Heartroot Stones into Nourish or Guff is ideal). Highlander Warrior is manageable as long as you dodge Geist or disruption. +100 Armor Warrior is harder because they clog your board with crocs to prevent Dungar from pulling correctly—get creative with Kael'thas and Bud to drop Malygos manually, or use Shattered Reflections to copy their strategy, though if they get to +200, the game is over.

The Combo Turn

This is notoriously difficult to teach, and I highly recommend practicing against the Innkeeper first. The concept is simple, but executing it within the rope is brutal.

The most basic win condition is ramping to 10 mana and casting Travelmaster Dungar. However, because there are 6 total minions in the list, playing Dungar with an empty hand risks pulling the wrong pieces—missing Eonar usually means instant loss. Fortunately, you can usually guarantee your pulls by holding 3 minions in hand by 10 mana (though desperate situations will force you to gamble).

Your ultimate goal is to get Malygos, Eonar, and Kael'thas onto the board, then churn through your deck with discounted spells to blast your opponent from hand with Moonbeams, Swipes and UIs. When you have Kael'thas and only cheap spells plus a high-cost payoff (Sleep Under the Stars or UI), look for Nightshade Bud to cheat out additional minions. Finding Aviana off Bud lets you drop Dungar, Eonar, or Malygos straight from hand. Sometimes mana is a social construct and you have double Sleep, allowing you to drop Malygos off Bud and combo with just Kael'thas and Malygos on board.

An example: https://www.twitch.tv/kvlt____/clip/PricklyPlacidHumanRitzMitz-u2BNeJW81hL_9H3Y

Because every game state is completely unique, it's impossible to write a rigid step-by-step guide for the combo turn. Just keep a close eye on your spell cost reductions and make sure you have enough mana to close out the turn. Good luck and have fun!

Highlight 100% my favorite Ogre. I trusted the 50% coin flips... and the Ogres delivered.

I never drew the heal Ogre. Turn 11, I was down to 10 heath. I played my 3rd kingpin. cleared their board, dealt chip damage to face and bounced kingpin. healed my face. They played 8 mana astalor, armored up, and played armor warden, which had taunt (not really relevant) and would have summoned another minion (bad). I topdecked Shard of the Naaru and silenced the enemy board, dropped Pud and summoned 6 4/4 ogres with rush and 50% chance to attack the wrong enemy. This was my last hope. I was down to literally 1 HP. My opponent had 24 hp+armor combined. I had a bunch of Ogres who needed to miss for me to win. I won the dice rolls somehow. The odds of this exact sequence happening are like a 0.024% chance.

Really? A value engine for Warlock, which has much better things to be doing across multiple archetypes, is worse for the format than a free turn 1 6/6 with charge?

Question Tavern pass question

2 Upvotes

If you plan on buying the tavern pass for the upcoming expansion and don’t plan on grinding pre release tavern brawl shouldn’t you theoretically save your packs until the new expansion releases in order to ensure you dont pull one of the pass diamond legendaries and therefore miss out on a free legendary or am I missing something?

changed from the treant giving a copy of the last nature spell you cast to just giving a random nature spell; kinda unfortunate but entirely predictable given it was already being used for animation cheating before getting banned in the same wave that gutted [[Necrolord Draka]]

Discussion Is wild worth playing anymore? After getting this card back im kinda tired of facing 3 same decks

Post image

Played since 2016 (gvg) but last balance patches only for standard. 3 decks now is all we see, Azalina is the worst one to face, then its ticktock and quest DH. New expansion wont change anything. Its just depressive to face Azalina, better taking a break and see if its nerfed later. Playing fun decks is also miserable because Azalina steal your cards and play them 3-6 turns earlier than you. Reaching legend rank doesnt rly give any achievement either

On a new server. Crafted and used the best deck in Wild. Had to spend some money(feel a little bit vexed and lil bit surprised) , and sadly i needed to disenchant some cards, in order to obtain the required amount of dust, to craft my deck that i want.

It's fun to have win streak on ranked ladder. Just a short escape lol.

I haven't lost/break this win streak yet.

Ok have fun friends

Question Best deck for 12 wins in a row starting from dumpster MMR?

4 Upvotes

I want to get the 12 wins in a row achievement. Think it'd be pretty impossible in standard cause I'm near 11x mmr there.

My wild mmr, however, is pretty low. 2 years ago or so I got to gold 10 maybe, and my star bonus rn is x2.

What would be the most consistent deck to get it? The obvious answer would be "just look up best deck on hsguru" but I figure the best deck at top1k legend may not be the best deck in my dumpster mmr.

Been looking at HL shadow priest myself, seems consistent. Suggestions welcome.

Just looking through the journal to see how many wins i had and how far i am off 20k. However, noticed on the other page where class wins are, I'm only at c.9k. That means c.7k of my ranked wins came in Duels!

I miss that mode, I really do...

General Getting back into Hearthstone

5 Upvotes

Hi, I've been getting back into the game recently after many years away, and had a couple questions about Wild. I've always enjoyed non-rotating formats with more powerful options (big Modern fan in MTG), so I typically played Wild. What should I be looking to build as I'm just getting back into the format? (ideally something budget that I can build without having all the resources of someone who's been playing for years and years). Additionally, what have been the modern adjustments to the way the game is played/the wild meta? Taking a brief look around it seems like a lot of the old archetypes I'm familiar with have been power crept pretty bad.

Thanks in advance!
