I NEED HELP BEFORE TONIGHT

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I post here because I’m a little scared of what a runecast could mean but first of all, I speak english in a very basic level so I’ll try my best to explain what happened to me without using a translator and I apologise in advance if this end up being not understandable at all or just bad written.

I am not a wiccan because I have never done any ritual, but I agree and follow the philosophy of price the mother nature and I have read a lot of books to beginners that explain the basics of the religion. However, the night between yesterday and today I finally decided to try runes, after being so curious about it for years.

It was spontaneous and I followed the steps I found in a book I brought a few years ago. Everything went well and felt amazing, especially the meditation process but I was a little scared at the moment because the candles I was using were… Well, they created weird shadows all around the room (there was no other light source at the moment). I was supposed to seek an answer for a very personal mental health problem, but at the very last moment I thought it would be better to ask if I was doing the reading thing right and if this spiritual way was right for me (for many years of my life I considered myself as an atheist and most recently I started to look up for something that made me believe and feel connected).

I did the thing where you pick 3 cards without looking and then interpret the meaning of each based on their position. Using the rúnic alphabet or Futhark the very first one rune that I picked was Algiz (ᛉ ) and out of nowhere I started crying. The book told me it was a strong symbol of protection and it genuinely felt like a hug in a rough time and it was on the left side. Next, on center, was Tiwaz (ᛏ) and according to the same book, it meant some kind of victory in war or a huge victory in everything such as self confidence. At that point everything was great, I felt less scared but then it went the third one. It was Thurisaz (ᚦ). I felt terrible after that, the book said it was bad at all, representing chaos and destructive energy. Now looking for different meanings on the internet I found out It also can mean protection to that destructive energy, but at the moment I ended the session feeling bad and confused.

A few hours later, thinking about what It could mean, I thought:

The first rune I read meant the stage in general I was at that specific moment.

The second showed me what action I could do based on the previous one.

The last one warned me about what is gonna happen if I keep going (something bad).

Since I asked about me doing this kinds of things, I understood that it was like a warning sign. Idk, maybe I did something wrong in the process or I don't know enough of the culture and the religion to make this ritual.

If you guys have more experience with this I really need your help. Tonight I’m gonna repeat the session to see what I get this time, but I fear It could be dangerous. There are many other details of this story but I didn't consider telling because of the language and the extension of this text.

There is a photo of the book I used. Let me know any references about the author.

Anyone Else Rediscover Their Spirituality After Sobriety and a Lifetime of Fear‑Based Religion?

Over the past 13 months — and especially since turning 40 this past April — I’ve been going through a period of self‑discovery, or maybe re‑self‑discovery. I’m sharing this because I’m curious whether anyone else has walked a similar path, and how your experience helped you. I’m not looking for answers or advice, just resonance and perspective.

I got sober on 1/4/2022. My spiritual life since then has been a journey with a lot of twists.

My Background

I was raised Roman Catholic and attended parochial school until bullying and violence pushed me out. Even after switching to public school, I still felt like an outsider — especially with the pressure of being “the smart kid.” My earliest memory of God is standing in a dark church with my mother, staring at a massive crucifix of a bloodied Christ. I didn’t understand it, only that I felt fear, guilt, and the sense that stepping out of line meant punishment. That impression stayed with me for decades.

In my teens, my friends and I wandered into a metaphysical shop called Gypsy Moon. They were interested in Ouija boards; I was drawn to the owner, an older witch named Maria. She answered my questions and encouraged my curiosity. I returned almost daily, reading everything I could. My mother panicked, thinking I was “communing with the devil,” but for me it was the first time spirituality felt empowering, balanced, and connected to nature. The idea of the divine as both Goddess and God made intuitive sense. I practiced into my early twenties.

Then my father died by suicide, and we buried him the day I turned 21. My drinking escalated, and my spirituality disappeared. I drank daily for 15 years, damaging one marriage and nearly another.

Sobriety and Rediscovery

When I got sober and worked the steps with my first sponsor, I prayed to a vague “spirit of the universe.” As I stayed sober, I dove headfirst back into Catholicism — retreats, Cursillo, parish council, all of it. But over time, between my daughter coming out, financial struggles in the parish, and the darker side of church politics, I began questioning everything. The fear-based foundation of my childhood didn’t fit anymore.

I felt myself being called back to the craft after twenty years away. I studied Taoism, Buddhism, and even parts of Christianity that still resonate — the golden rule, the Sermon on the Mount — but not the dogma. Last Lughnasadh (2025), I performed a rededication ritual to the Lady and Lord, and my life shifted. The connection I felt as a teenager returned, but now with the perspective of a 40-year-old man who’s been through hell and come out sober.

I’ve also noticed something interesting: the more I drank, the more rigid and right‑leaning my worldview became. Sobriety has softened that. I see nuance now — left, right, center, upside down. I avoid political discussions because they’re so volatile here in the States.

Where I Am Now

This past year has been rewarding as I walk the path again, but I’ve struggled to find others in AA who share similar beliefs. I’m a solitary practitioner, private by nature, and community has been hard to find.

I feel like my spirituality is a synthesis of Taoism, Buddhism, and Paganism. Not a hodgepodge — more like threads that all point toward balance, compassion, nature, and personal responsibility. But I’m used to having a name for my path, and now I’m realizing it may not have one. I’m not looking for structure, and I know that defining it only limits it. Still, I wonder if anyone else has lived in this unnamed space.

What I’m Curious About

I’d love to hear from anyone who has walked a similar road — especially if you’ve blended alternative spiritual paths with AA or recovery. Specifically:

  • How you developed a daily relationship with the Divine
  • How you balanced surrender with personal agency
  • How you reconciled spellwork or intention-setting with “turning things over”
  • How you connected with traditions from other cultures while living in the U.S.
  • How you navigated Wicca or Paganism without falling into dogma
  • How you integrated your craft with the steps
  • How you handled being a male witch or practitioner in a culture that still stigmatizes it

Again — I’m not looking for answers or instruction. I’m just interested in hearing how your experience shaped your path, and how you came to relate to the divine (or not) without needing a label.

Thanks for reading this. If you’ve walked anything like this path, I’d love to hear your story.

Recommendations on samhain? :3

Hi there! I’m very new to Wicca, and I’ve read a few articles and books. I understand what Samhain is about—the death of the God—but I’m not entirely sure how to celebrate it. I’m from Mexico, so I was planning to set up an *altar de muertos* (Day of the Dead altar) next to my altar, since that falls the following day and also represents de death of the sun; but besides that, what would you recommend me to do?

Thank u 🌛🪶

I’m conducting a spell using; rose hips, jasmine oil, rose oil, hibiscus, pink Lilly, and cinnamon.

The moon is in sidereal Scorpio my 7th house, and Venus is in Libra Rx, while the moon phase is waxing.

This is imo a good time to do some love and beauty workings

Hi,

So I have always had weird dreams. They used to be predictive, as in I'd have the dream and 6 months later what I dreamt would happen, but now they're just vivid weird dreams. I've had pretty scary dreams about snakes multiple times in the past. But last night I woke up from a dream that had me wondering...

I don't know if anyone sees dreaming as some sort of spiritual sign or anything, but hear me out...

In my dream, I was standing in this really nice living room area, it had richly stained wood, like oak or cherry or something, really nice looking. I had a German shepherd that was brown and black in color sitting next to me just looking around. Next to the dog was a figure of a man. I couldn't see clothing or a face, I just felt like it was a man in this dream... Suddenly a snake with the body of a viper (had viper patterns) and the head of a cobra came slithering in and right toward me. The dog was agitated and barking at it and the guy started yelling. I just remembered saying 'get this snake out of here' and instantly the dog and the man went after this snake and managed to chase it out. The man tried grabbing it by the head, but I yelled to him not to grab it cause it was venemous and it would harm him. The dog wound up biting the snake, the snake bit the dog, and then the snake was gone. The dog went back to the calm demeanor it had, but its face was swollen and I felt bad that it got bit. Then I woke up.

Again, hope this post is allowed, and I don't know if anyone believes that dreams mirror spiritual things or not, but my question is, would this mean that maybe someone is trying to spiritually attack me? Or in waking life do I need to watch our for someone? I'd like to know what anyone thinks, if anything. Advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I,m pretty sure I know what I need to do I'm just unsure how

For context I have always had a flair for the dead ...it started when I was young (think six sense but I was never scared these spirits were my friends some still are ) I had an imaginary friend who used to move things and who I could see and talk to ... harmless right ....this continued though late primary school then highschool....I was the weird kid 🤷🏻‍♀️ ....I found out I was a conduit as well but that brought bad shit ....so I built a wall.....for years I've had this wall sometimes it seeps in but I've blocked it for years.....in the last 3 - 4 years I've been drawn to Selene the moon goddess ( yeah yeah sue me ) leaving offerings bowing to the moon saying hello to her ...but tonight she was in what a call a smile faze with a skirt ( clouds around that look like a skirt duh) and I have been really down really in depressed form and I asked what do I do Selene and no shit half the skirt disappeared and all I could see was Hekate....and I know you don't play with her unless you understand or know but I feel like she was calling me ...or Selene was telling me to go to her ...or maybe I'm batshit and just need to leave things be

Dress for Dumb Supper.

Sorry for this intrusion on such a dumb question.

I bought a dress for my covens Dumb Supper this Samhain for a small online retailer.

It's a black garment that goes below my knees, but it shows quite a bit of bosom crack.

Should I find something else to wear?

50 Miles to Abuelita’s Haunted Magic Cottage

I heard about the 331 miles bike challenge biking challenge for this month but, I am recovering from having 13 surgeries over the past 3 years. My goal is 50 miles by the New Year on the Wheel of the Year.
This is my tracker.
It’s strangely satisfying picturing my walk through a haunted woodscape on my way to my Abuelita’s cottage where all the wildlife of the forest visit her.

Reading more about wicca

The more I read. The more I relate.

I just did my first ritual with offerings

This to the Moon Goddess and to the sun God

....

Does Qtips work as an offering?

....

The book said that find something white, and that was the second thing I found. Tho, it's not organic at all. Does it count?

Idk I'm just starting. Been thinking about doing it for far too long...

Interpretation this retrogrades got some hands

Anyone else feeling the intensity of this time of year? October 24 is coming soon and it just might be crazy I’m just seeing all the headlines and events effect on my city.

Currently cozy drinking coffee in my apartment, I’ve been isolating and based on the way things have been moving I think it was a smart move.

Today will probably do an LBRP and cleanse out my immediate space. Are you doing anything different with your rituals this year?

Blessed be everyone! I'm getting back into practice after a long period of losing my faith. The 8 words of the Rede have stuck with me even in my faithless times, but I have recently felt the pull back to Hecate and Cernunnos.

I did my first spell in over 15 years the other day (an altered version of the LBRP that replaces the Hebrew and Archangels with Hecate, Cernunnos, spirits & ancestors, and the 4 elements) and felt their energy flow through me.

I still haven't come out of the broom closet to my friends and family yet, but thought I should share with someone that I'm actually excited to be getting back into rituals and spell work again. In the last pic my little helper's name is Nala. 😂

Interpretation Interpreting wax formations

Set up some candle work for the deities I work with in regards to getting someone to confess their true feelings, and in both the wax formed these huge vertical towers toward the back. I turned and rotated them as the burned and it was not the wind flow in the room. Any wisdom in regards to what this means or have resources to read wax? Early into my practice and would love to learn more !

Did Birgid call to me?

A few years ago, back when I wasn't initiated in the ways of the Wicca, I had a dream that felt very real. I wrote it down in details (back then) and analyzed it as well as I could.

I ended up finding a lot of connections between that dream and the Celtic goddess Brigid. I am Belgian, but have Celtic ancestry from both Brittany and Scotland, so I thought at first it might be linked to Celtic stories.

I have since then learned more about the Wiccan ways and religion. I, however, currently do not have a specific deity that I worship.

I woke up today and felt like I had to go to an esoteric shop. I went to one that was close to my house, but did not feel satisfied. So I walked all the way to another shop, that I had first decided not to go to, because it was too far away.

When I got there, I felt like there was something I was looking for - not sure what at all, but I had that instinct of "I'll know when I'll see it".

I spent a solid half hour in that shop, looking at everything, and found a few interesting items, but nothing that made me think "right, that's it", so I just proceeded to go pay.

The woman told me that it was their last week, as she was retiring and no one was going to take over her shop, so I'm lucky I got there in time. Mind you, I didn't know about this shop prior to this morning.

While I was standing there, I felt like something was calling to me. I turned my head and saw an orange aventurine pendulum. I did not even hesitate and directly bought it.

I got home a bit later and started using the pendulum, because I couldn't resist doing it. I'm going to skip the details, but the pendulum told me it was linked to the goddess Brigid, and that it got to me for a reason.

I looked up online if there was any association between the two, and when I googled "orange aventurine pendulum", I found a page about the Celtic goddess Brigid.

I have felt drawn to the goddess for a while, but I don't know how to worship her. I feel like this is something she will be able to communicate with me as well. I do want to look it up, but I wanted to ask first: has anyone had a similar experience with Brigid / another deity? How do you know if they actually call you? And does anyone have tips on worshipping Brigid?

Thanks in advance :))

Wicca sucks, buy my coven subscription. Are these connected? - Discussion Topic.

I have been seeing a growth in two concepts within our community.

  1. Trashing of the reputation of Wicca. You know the drill "You are all a bunch of appropriating, gatekeepers and know nothing of REAL witchcraft plus your founder was a perv". And the classic salacious implications of "I would NEVER join a coven, that's just asking for trouble" *sigh*

  2. Paid coven subscriptions, Expensive witch schools, paid initiations, overpriced events. All presented with glossy socials, inflated credentials and long involved justifications that leaders deserve to make a living from their craft even as most of those "leaders" are newcomers themselves.

Traditionally, Wicca has a rule about "not charging for the craft" and instead fosters a culture of relationship and reciprocity.

This new wave seems to be a culture of, paid for, energy exchange with no strings attached.

Do you think that these two things are deliberately connected?

Is the effort to devalue Wicca a deliberate marketing strategy? Or is it an unfortunate and accidental byproduct of capitalism? Is Wicca now actually too broken to fix and we should just give up and sell out?

Lets discuss?

Open Question Is being a Dianic Witch/Wiccan ok?

I did some research and I heard that the founder of Dianic Wicca was transphobic but I really like the purpose of Dianic Wicca because I’m a feminist and I want to help women across the world. (Yes, I’m a biological female). Is being a Dianic witch valid?
