I spent the last 5 years building a free app to map out live music and pub quizzes in West Sussex – but I need your help to keep it updated!
Hi everyone,
I’m a local developer based in Horsham, and after working on this on and off for the last 5 years, I finally pushed it live on the Google Play Store yesterday!
I built it because I got fed up trying to figure out which pubs actually have live music, acoustic sets, or quiz nights on the weekends without having to dig through dozens of individual Facebook pages and outdated websites.
To solve this, I created Thruddle.
Because I’ve been working on this for a long time, I’ve already done a massive data drop to populate as many venues, gigs, and quiz nights across Horsham, Crawley and much further afield. However, as you all know, the local pub and music scene moves fast, and the overall dataset is just too big for one person to maintain alone.
It’s designed to be a true community project. If you download the app and notice your local favorite is missing a gig, or a weekly quiz night has changed days, you can suggest edits directly inside the app.
For iPhone or desktop users: Don't worry, you aren't left out! I also have the web version up and running at thruddle.com. In fact, because the app is brand new, the website is currently much more feature-complete—it allows you to follow your favorite locals for event alerts, earn passport badges when you check-in, and plan your nights out.
For Pub & Venue Owners: The website fully supports local businesses! You can claim your listing and get your own microsite hosted directly on the platform to promote your own upcoming gigs, food truck nights, and drinks offers.
If you’re heading out this weekend, I’d love it if you could give the app or the site a spin. I’d massively appreciate any honest feedback, venue suggestions, or data corrections to help make this a genuinely useful tool.
It's completely free and has no dodgy ads. I'll drop the links in the comments below. Thanks so much for reading!
Cheers,
Julian
