New hire at a brand new store, we open next month.
I applied for deli and was hired for facilities. Im serve safe and have tons of kitchen experience so I was surprised by where they decided to place me.
After reading some things on here it seems like facilities is a less stressful position than deli. Coming from a crazy kitchen, less stressful will be a nice change.
My question is about the long term future.
Can someone move up the ranks from facilities?
Either way Im still looking forward to the job. Im coming from a poorly run restaurant that’s part of a chain that’s failing. Im just wondering about long term possibilities.

I’m not an employee but I thought this would be best to ask to Wawa associates. Are you running out of gobbler ingredients? Every Wawa I’ve gone to in the last week (4 different wawas, 2 states) says the gobbler is back but you can’t find it when you go to order it on the touch screen. It’s only available for a short time, I need my fall fix!!

Edit: thank you for these responses! I had no clue what the time window was and it’s a bummer that it’s a supply issue for the busy stores.
Side note: thank you all for your hard work. I’ve seen some seriously large crowds waiting for food and yall just send each order out so quick!

So, this has been happening for a bit, and I just need to rant. I got hired about a month ago, have never worked at WAWA before so I was fully new to the job. My SECOND day of training, my AM had me on OWS, and assigned an associate who had NEVER done OWS to "train" me, and then got upset when I was messing up/slow because this girl literally had no idea what to do. For example, I did not know that sizzli's with bacon should be on the top/bottom shelves so the bacon doesnt risk getting sucked into the fan in the oven. Well it ended up happening, and when I saw the oven smoking I looked at her and was like I don't know what to do what should I do??? I was panicking. She looked at me (I'm not joking this was like 5 minutes after she told me she had been there a year) and just said "idk figure it out" and ran out of the back. Like literally one shift after my first day I seemed to know more than she did. They ended up firing her a week later after she'd been there a year. My manager pullled me into his office and asked if I had a problem with my AM, because apparently shes complaining about me, I explained to him that I was just upset because I was given an associate who didn't understand the OWS to train me and I felt like I was being set up for failure. He straight up told me to my face that the AM is new to the store, and just has a different set of expectations. He's happy with the work I'm doing, but just says to lay low when she's around. I thought maybe this was all in my head, maybe I am messing up and not realizing. Until two associates pulled me aside on Monday and literally said "why is she criticizing everything you do?". They've both been at the store for over 2 years. Oh and one final detail, she started training me on deli this week, but does not assign someone to OWS for when I'm on deli. So she will tell me to handle the OWS station, and then ask me why I'm not standing next to her in Deli.... quite literally asking me to do the jobs of two people.

This is the Wawa at 9955 Lee Vista Blvd. To the twin pigtailed woman preparing food today at 3:25am, and the shorter, cheerful woman at the beverage area that was there with her 3 Thursdays ago. You saw me and quickly clocked me, I was having a horrible day. My dog was on the verge of being having to be put down (thankfully she responded to treatment!) and I was really devastated and was dragging myself to work, since life stops for no one. You cheered me up and told me that it was going to be okay. That was the highlight of my day, and I got through it thanks to you. I appreciate you both and I hope you have the best days ever.

I just saw that Vanguard sent out an email that they’re gonna be charging our retirement accounts $20 a year for record keeping? That’s almost a million dollars a year they’ll be making just off that f Wawa employees!

My mom really wants to know but hasn't been able to find the answer. Thanks!

Title: Fellow M-Levels: How do you balance open availability with having a life outside of work?
I’m curious how other M-levels navigate activities outside of work that require a consistent commitment on the same day and time each week.
I’m currently an AGM and would really like to join an adult recreational sports league just for fun, exercise, and something to enjoy outside of work. The games are every Monday at 7:30 PM for seven consecutive weeks.
I brought this up to my GM, but he said he couldn’t accommodate it because, as a manager, I’m expected to have open availability. His position is that having a recurring commitment every Monday evening would mean I no longer have open availability.
I completely understand that being in management comes with scheduling responsibilities, flexibility, and the needs of the business. I’m not asking for every Monday off indefinitely, just a temporary adjustment for seven weeks.
At the same time, I feel like having a healthy work-life balance is important, even in management. We encourage associates to have lives outside of work, and I think managers should be able to enjoy that same balance when business needs allow.
My questions for other M-levels:
Have you ever requested a temporary recurring schedule adjustment for something outside of work?
Would your GM accommodate something like this?
Does open availability really mean we can’t commit to anything that happens at the same time every week?
How do you balance management expectations with hobbies, sports, or other personal commitments?
I’m genuinely interested in hearing how other stores and GMs handle situations like this. I’m not trying to avoid my responsibilities. I just want to be able to participate in something I enjoy outside of work without feeling like being a manager makes that impossible.

I’m part of Gen Z. I’m cordial with all associates but whenever I correct something wrong they start saying “do you like me?”. Mostly Gen Z but I’ve gotten some in their late 30s. Is it that the generation is getting softer or…..??? Like it’s just me saying “hey I saw you touch the garbage can, so change your gloves” or “ you putting too much mayo or ketchup on this sandwich, it should be a line a two”.

This made me glad to go to 3rd shift tonight.

Let's say an associate gets caught smoking weed (NJ) while on the clock on company grounds and admits to doing so. When they get terminated would they still be ESOP eligible? I have heard of team members getting termed for misconduct and losing their ESOP because of it.

Appreciate any advice.

Hi everybody! I recently started working at wawa >2 months ago, i absolutely love my store and love my team! This is my first "real" job and I've gotten so many compliments from our managment already, especially since I started overnights last week. All that to say, looking ahead in my schedule, the next two weeks(including this one) im scheduled 40+ hours, then the proceeding two weeks I'm only scheduled 20 hours or less. Literally two days off in the heavy weeks vs five days off in the light ones. Is this normal to see in scheduling or did they decide they actually donttt like me lol.? anyways the inconsistency just seems sooo strange so i guess im just wondering if this is common?

Just curious and wondering if anybody else’s pay is delayed or is it just my direct deposit acting up? I understand Monday was a holiday. I usually get paid on Wednesdays around 9 AM. I just wanna know if it’s an issue with my account or if anyone else is dealing with this issue so I know if I need to contact my bank or payroll. I’m a little anxious because I have a bill to pay today and I wanted to get something for my sister’s birthday tomorrow.

UPDATE; the paycheck hit. I updated my payroll on Monday to a different bank. I was told that it was going to hit my last one but it hit my new one that I just put in, just later than my last bank did. I was under the impression that it was gonna hit my old account. That’s why I was confused why it was so late . All good now thank you guys so so much for the replies !

So, I'm at a different Wawa from the one that I started and initially trained at. I realize that the "When in Rome" maxim applies to a point, but I'd like to know because well, I'm primarily on register and I'd like to do things correctly.

At my first Wawa, my supervisor told me that it's against policy to scan the rewards card for two packs of Marlboros in a row. In other words, you can't scan the rewards card for the second transaction, each one consisting of two packs each. If a customer tries to split it like that, say, "I can only scan the card on the first two."

Apparently, this is not the case at my current Wawa. I tried to hold the line today when a customer tried to use his rewards card 5 separate times to get 5 cartons of Marlboros. I told the MOD that I wasn't allowing it, as per Wawa policy, and she told me that if I didn't have a line, I could go ahead and do it. The guy was gloating a bit, I probably should give less of a shit because I'm just a CSA, and if the MOD says it's a go, then it is, right? When in Rome, do as the Romans do? Or is this actually the policy, and my first supervisor was wrong?

What say you all?

Thank you

Hello all . I started working at Wawa almost 4 months ago. My store is really weird ( i think ) and i'm wondering if anyone else is going through the same stuff. Im really debating quitting as this store environment is very draining / stressful for my first job . For starters - on overnight we have NO facilities- really only on order nights - to do the order. An associate also leaves at 2am every night instead of 3 associates staying til 6am - and manager takes over beverage from thereon. 2nd shift will leave a mess , and most of them try and run out of deli at 9:58 - meanwhile deli is left a mess , not filled , wiped down , orders on screen , and no time to look at your HFT or drops - you'll get lucky if you have the chance to look. My one overnight worker is chronically late. Usually i am on Bev , and she will not walk in til 10:00-10:05 and be at deli til almost 10:10 sometimes, causing me to have NO idea whats going on in my station and being thrown into deli . The real kicker is she mobile orders her drink a bit before she comes in - but is still late. EVERY NIGHT ! Almost every off day , i feel as if im getting called into work. I did not preface i wanted to work 2nd shifts , but they have me scheduled for a few second shifts , as well as other overnight people , and i worked a 10-6 and they tried calling me in the same morning to work a 2nd shift. Im well beyond tired as there’s a lot expected of overnight and alot thrown at us. I feel as if maybe im being dramatic and im scared to quit . Maybe the workload is normal but i dont think anyones happy on overnight either. I primarily worked weekends and we are far from dead - but also not PACKED every hour .

I have been a life long Wawa fan, and always will be, but I pulled in to get gas the other day and couldn’t believe it, every single pump was taken except one. As I drove past the line of cars, I noticed something ridiculous: not a single one of them was actually pumping gas. I filled up next to an unmarked city vehicle, and the entire time I was fueling, the lane was completely empty. Nobody was anywhere near their cars.

After fueling, I moved my car to a parking spot and went inside for coffee. People were casually strolling out carrying full bags of groceries. Even a city official walked out holding a giant bag and a tray of coffees. There were plenty of open parking spots up front and on the side, yet all these people chose to block the gas pumps just to go shopping. Completely selfish and frustrating.

I do understand that some people need to go in and pay cash to activate the pump, but that is not the case. There were 3 people standing in line at the register when I went in.

I need a gas receipt from 4 weeks ago. I have the date, card numbers, and exact dollar/change amount. Can a manager print that for me?

I started working at Wawa towards end of September, being trained on morning shift then to second shift (that’s how it is at my store often times). I know I’m still very much a newbie but I feel like I should at least be able to balance most of my area without help with very few exceptions at this point. I came from chick fil a so so much of me is very keen on speed and somewhat panicky on speed and me being in red and being a few min on drinks (some drinks are still on screen for nearly 10 min at time and thats unacceptable to me). My food and bev manager among others have told me to focus on accuracy instead of speed and to not panic about asking for help but I don’t want to be that one person who is always drowning and backed up and needing help, and being at chick fil a Im used to the premise of it being my screen and it’s my job to clear it and I hate taking people from other already busy stations. I’m slowly starting to grasp some things but I’m still struggling with shakes and otherwise and ensuring coffee station and island is good and all. Not only that but I’m trying to balance everything to ensure good FSRA audits and results and I’m so worried about fucking up. Ik im not meant for Wawa super duper long term per se but im worried im never gonna catch up and i dont wanna be seen as the slow one or whatevs it seems like other new hires are catching up fine but idk? I need advice frfr 😭😭 I wonder if I should just quit or sum

Grand Opening in Avon Park, FL on Thursday! Stopped by today!

Ordered Double Meat Italian Hogie on the app and chose Fly-thru. Pulled through exactly at the "ready time" and it was available!

On the way out checked my tire pressure on one of two machines with no problems.

Hogie built exactly as requested and delicious!

So far, so good!

Hey guys i redeemed my virtual giftcard at work on sunday but it's not working when i try to add it on apple pay or use it online. it keeps saying contact card issuer/bank. i cant get through to any agents please help im genuinely so confused, the email wawa sent me took me to the my vault payment link where i can see the card information

I attempted to log into my shift app for like the 4th time today and its just giving me the loading screen and hasn't shown me anything different. I'm worried it may be bugged or down and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this today as well? I really need to check it because I don't remember what my hours are for tomorrow and I need to check

I’m no retail business expert but is this the only game. Make everything so cheap to try and get people in the door?? RIP my bonus

I rarely go to Wawa anymore but wanted a tuna salad. Something seemed very different. Seemed alot sweeter. Mentioned this to a friend and she said the same. Have they changed brands to save $$$$$?

Hey! I went to Wawa today to get a mike cranberry and when I showed my ID they asked for a second form of ID since mine was from out of state and he couldn’t scan it. I had seltzers at home so it wasn’t a big deal to me but I did buy a surfside the other day without a problem at the same location (same ID). I was wondering if this is normal or maybe I just looked suspicious because I was just buying a mikes harder cranberry.

He was very sweet and kind and I’m not mad at all I am just curious!
