Hello! I'm kinda new to the warriors fandom starting back in the end of 2025 listening to the audiobooks and I love the world building and characters. And I am in need of some help. I'm planning on writing an AU/rewrite of the warriors series as a fanfic (starting off with TNP onward) and there is one aspect with that second arc I need help with. Well two things.
SPOILERS BELOW OBVIOUSLY!!!!
Feathertail and Tribe of Rushing Water Prophecy.
I adore Feathertail and my hottake is that her death felt unwarranted and felt like the sacrificial lamb trope not to mention the trope of 'the white savior' fans pointed out with said death and the prophecy giving to the tribe. My plan is to rewrite this to where Feathertail survives and the tribe doesn't feel like it's a group of cats who can't take care of themselves and need the clans help. Though my troubles lie with the prophecy.
I want to get rid of it entirely but I also know it's quite a heavy plot point to that part of the arc. My question is should I stick to my guns and get rid of it or find a way to integrate it into the story without it being a savior trope.
Without the prophecy the idea is the group to run into Sharptooth prior to meeting the tribe in which some tribe cats who were sent to attack and kill Sharptooth distracting/getting Sharptooth away. Before being lead to the tribe where the group stays to recover on the journey home but also let Tawnypelt's rat bite properly properly heal. Which the group learns about the tribes ways and how it's different from their own. With them learning a few things from them vice versa. And instead of they're being two attacks from Sharptooth there would only be the one and finale one. In which Feathertail would 'sacrifice' herself by launching onto the stalactite and bringing it down on Sharptooth in order to save Crowpaw but is heavily injured but is clinging to life.
She does go to Starclan similar to what happened with Leafpool and Squilf. But ends up going back due to her love of Crowpaw and the love for her friends and brother. Recovering in the tribe before the clans rejoin there and goes with them to the lake. Even going so far that The three are Feathertail's and Crowfeather's but that's more exciting lore for another day cause I'm still figuring that out.
