Community Feedback on Subreddit Content and Direction
Dear r/walther Members,
As a moderator of this subreddit, I have observed a mix of content in our community, including serious discussions on Walther firearms, technical inquiries, and ownership experiences, alongside lighter elements such as memes and humorous posts. While this variety can enhance engagement, there have been instances where some contributions appear to lean toward low-effort or repetitive humor, potentially resembling shitposting or circlejerk behavior.
To ensure that r/walther continues to serve as a valuable resource for enthusiasts, I am seeking your input on the subreddit's current state and potential improvements. Your feedback will help inform any adjustments to moderation guidelines, with the goal of maintaining a balanced and respectful environment.
Please share your thoughts on the following questions:
- How do you primarily view the purpose of r/walther? (e.g., A space for serious discussions only, a mix of serious and humorous content, or primarily for memes and lighthearted posts?)
- Do you believe there is an excess of low-effort or humorous posts? If so, how does this impact your experience?
- Should we introduce or refine rules to address this, such as requiring flairs for memes, limiting certain types of posts, or encouraging more substantive contributions?
- What other suggestions do you have to improve the subreddit, including topics, events, or features you would like to see?
I encourage all members to participate in this discussion respectfully. This thread will remain open for feedback over the next week, after which I will review responses and make the necessary changes.
Thank you for your contributions to making r/walther a strong community.
Best regards

Slide not locking back? Try Ghost Inc Mag Springs.
Last week I posted about how my PDP Pro X Compact slide rarely locks back on an empty magazine. While I knew my grip was the primary issue, I was wondering if there were any aftermarket mods to help.
u/honeybadger2112 recommended Ghost Inc extra power magazine springs, so I bought a pack of 3 for $8+ shipping. Easy install, off to the range. They work. As long as I’m not actively pressing down on the slide lever, it locks back reliably. My support hand still rests on the end of the lever, but the power from the magazine springs is enough to overcome the additional weight.
Thanks for the recommendation, highly recommend for any PDP user having issues with slide lockback.

Fresh pick up on a PPQ45
Recently picked up a PPQ 45 SD off of gunbroker and grabbed an osprey 45 for it today. Disregard the raised irons on the regular one since I did a slide swap.

How often does Walther import new Dynamic Performance Triggers?
Wanting to upgrade my standard trigger but it seems like these are never available. Curious if/how anyone else in this sub has obtained them without having bought a pro version pdp.

1st PDP purchase - need advice
Hi, Waltherites. I am a first time gun buyer and have shot at the range a few times. I am also 6’7” with XXL hands. My research keeps pointing to the Walther PDP for its grip size for my hands, ergonomics, and trigger. But - all I hear about is how jumpy or snappy it is. Can someone give me the real scoop here? Is a snappy gun a bad idea for a first time newbie? I’m looking at the PDP Pro E Full Size. Thanks!

PPK/s back from Cylinder & Slide
I have 3 of these, been carrying one for years but decided to send the other two out to Cylinder & Slide for some work. New sights, radiused edges, trigger job, throated feed ramp, crowned barrel, beveled mag well, then matte blasted finish. Swapped the grips for a set of thin G10. The whole pistol is as thin as the slide.
I was going to do night sights but they talked me into doing a gold bead instead and I think it was the right call, I’ll never have to get new tubes installed.
Will post pics of the pair along with a pair of PPK-L I picked up, when I get around to hauling everything out of the safe.

Walther Wednesday sponsored by the letter P
Finally got a 22can and adapter for my 22lr mosel, and as silly as it looks unsuppressed, digging the trilug adapter on the 32acp for easily swapping between the ppk SD and my ps90/ap5.
This is an El Camino from Q and a SilencerCo Omega9k with the rugged 3-lug adapter. Hughes Precision adapter on the 22 and a Kaw Valley Precision 3 lug barrel adapter on the 32acp.
Reposted with picture this time.

How common is the striker breaking problem?
So I am on the hunt for a new compact 9mm and am between a Springfield Echelon, M&P carry comp, and a PDP (compact versions of each). I like the grip and trigger on the PDP best, but the sheer number of reports of broken strikers has me stuck. Yes I know that the internet exaggerates the frequency of any issue, but there are vastly more examples of broken strikers on PDPs than any other model I have seen. To me any part failing before 3,000 rounds on more than 5% of examples on a modern pistol is a fatal flaw. are broken striker more common than 1 in 20? Is Walther ever going to fix it? is it even fixable?

Do you need the green spring for a suppressed Walther P99?
So, I know you need the green spring for a Walther PDP Pro SD when you put a can on it but does this rule apply to the Walther P99 Final Edition as well?

My 2 pdp’s, which do you prefer full size or compact?

Considerations for picking a PDP SF
I am still fairly new to the PDP. I have a full sized polymer and a compact polymer, both m with the pro triggers, etc.
I’m coming from shooting a lot of M&P pistols. While I prefer the grip on those, the PDP has been winning me over. I’ve been looking at the steel framed options, could some insight about what options are worth choosing when getting into the steel frame.
I don’t know yet if shoot the compact better or not, though I was initially concerned that it would be too small; it’s just about spot on. The full size might be just a bit more comfortable, but it’s not a huge difference.
That said, is it best to get the 5” match, or is there any benefit to any of the shorter barrel options or even the compact frame? I don’t prefer comps, but I’m not against threaded barrels. I just seem to shoot better without a compensated barrel.
Thanks!

What do y'all think about a used ppq?
I'm looking at a used ppq, seller is asking $350, what do y'all think? It appears to be great shape, is that a good price? If so, is there anything I should look for, common issues? Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Thoughts on Suppressor for PDP SD Pro 5.1
With the new ATF guidelines planning on getting one by the end of the year. As of now trying to decide between a Huxwrx Flow 9K Ti or SilencerCo Spectre 9. It’s about a $230 price difference since the spectre doesn’t include the piston. It’s the better sound reduction worth the price over the flow through capability of the hux?
ot looking at full size cans or modular ones. Also don’t want the Shiv since it barely knocks the dBs down from what I’ve read/heard (correct me if I’m wrong). Mainly for HD but wouldn’t mind having something easier to keep in the car that I could throw on quickly if I needed to.

P99/PPQ magazine mod
Has anyone modified M2 PPQ mags to work with a M1 P99?
Looks like it I put another notch in the PPQ mag a little higher up for the higher catch it should work. Just curious if anyone has tried it.

Walther PDP Guiderod
Recently picked up this Walther PDP Pro E and added the 407c with a C&H RMR plate. What is the best guide rod to put in? I noticed the polymer one bends slightly, and want to put in a metal one. Looking to have a 17-18lb spring as well for carrying.

Nearly silent Sunday
… and troubleshooting wild accuracy issues with my can. I think I have it narrowed down to the adapter mounted on the PPQ, the least expensive solution.
Rugged Occulus 22 on PPQ 22 and PPK/S 22.

"You're a kite dancing in a hurricane Mr. Bond."
After a Spectre rewatch, I was compelled to throw this little homage together!
Despite the popular band wagon of hate this film receives, I rather enjoy it, and it holds a special in my heart for many reasons that I will not get into here.
Featured is my wedding band with an engraved SPECTRE octopus and Walther PPK SD, all atop a chessboard top play against Mr. White or Kronsteen.
