Over expectations. You know the Fed target is around 2.0%, right?

0

u/CannabisnCokee 12h ago

Yeah. And when has that been met?

2

u/LegacyQuotient 12h ago

I'll take a .89% miss over a 1.6% miss.

we were on track to meet our target until Trump came into office

if met it would be still bad, but less bad than it is

the headline is basicly saying:

"Economy i fucked even more than expected"

and small numbers can have huge impacts but that would require financial education or really just basic math

This is also with the new report right so only like 60% of the original data is present right? Gas, Electric and some groceries arent a part of this anymore e

Its probably higher.

And this is WITHOUT GAS GROCERIES OR ELECTRIC.

And the reality is 10x worse then they say.

Someone at the Department of Labor is getting fired today

1

u/StatusStudies 5h ago

Labor doesn't report inflation fking morons

1

u/fatherlyadvicepdx 5h ago

The US Bureau of Labor and Statistics reports the CPI. That Bureau is part of the Department of Labor.

How is it really inflation when it's based on outrageous fuel prices because of Trump??

2

u/estoypooping2 13h ago

Google what CPI is

4

u/StrawberryOk8459 13h ago

I know what it is just saying it's bullshit when it has happened because of a war no one wanted.

u/Future-Bandicoot-823 12h ago

What? That can't be true...

Brian kilmead told me yesterday he's fighting tooth and nail to stop these Democrat started wars!

/s, but he does say that

It doesn't matter what's causing it. The fact of the matter is this is happening and there ain't much that you can do about it. unless Americans finally wake the fuck up and do something about their shitty government, because realistically civil war should have broken out years ago. I have been predicting a US Civil War every year, basically since 2018. Because as an outsider looking at your government, I legitimately do not see a different option available to you other than basically replace everybody on both sides of the political spectrum, dissolve both current political parties. and build an entirely new government from scratch, somehow without needing a second civil war, which isn't happening, which means you're going to need a second civil war.

Voting and billionaires rigging the votes prevents that... Oh btw in order to have something that you would need  competent leaders  an unifying message  Supporter turnout But none of that ain't  happening

Just tell the gas station and grocery store workers that you didn’t want this war and they’ll apply your “I’m against a pedophile president starting unjust wars and handing out tariffs like candy” discount. It’s not that hard.

1

u/Own_Exchanger 10h ago

Not just war. Tariffs are still in play too.

1

u/StatusStudies 5h ago

What's bs? Are you saying the numbers should be higher?

3

u/TapEx101 13h ago

We are winning, huge winning. Higher number means we are winning. /S

u/henryeaterofpies 11h ago

They made the classic blunder....don't have both miss the target by the same amount, it makes it obvious its fake. /s

1

u/StatusStudies 5h ago

What do u mean miss? They beat expectations! /s

It's important to understand that the 3.7% number assumes we only had 0.1% increases for last October and November when the Republicans shut down the government. Those two months were likely much higher. We are likely at a minimum of 4.1% if we assume inflation those two months was at least 0.3% each.

1

u/Work-Sport-Fun 10h ago

I'm not talking about the general public, I'm asking about you.

2

u/StatusStudies 5h ago

Reddit is wild. Sad, actually.

1

u/Geoclasm 12h ago

"We have the best inflation SO GREAT!"

.1 higher. That’s hilarious. Not news

4

u/LaiqTheMaia 13h ago

If it was already expected to be bad, and its even worse than that, thats news.

u/CannabisnCokee 12h ago

Historical average since 1914 is 3.3%.

We’re acting like 3.7% is the end of the world lol

u/Own_Exchanger 10h ago

It was coming down at the end of Biden's term, then tariffs and the war increased the cost of everything. 2% is healthy, 4% is not. And keep in mind that the real number is likely higher than 4% because the BLS didn't report numbers for last October and November, so they've been assuming 0.1% for each of those months, which is unrealistic. And to make things worse, wages aren't rising like they did under Biden and interest rates are going higher.

0

u/easttxcouple 8h ago

It was expected. That’s because inflation is always expected. It was essentially what was expected. This is not hard

2

u/StatusStudies 5h ago

Do you know that's monthly and not annualize number damn ignorant

1

u/easttxcouple 5h ago

No retard, that is NOT what it means. It means in the last 12 months. It’s a trailing indicator. Maybe take an economics class before you start calling people names

Headline CPI measures the average change in consumer prices over the previous 12 months, including food, gasoline, housing, medical care, and other consumer purchases.
If CPI is 3.7%, that means the basket of goods and services measured by the government costs approximately 3.7% more than it did a year earlier.
It does not mean prices increased 3.7% in September alone.
