When market is climbing too fast in a specified period of time a trade halt is also initiated. It’s called a volatility halt for both directions.
These rules are primarily for the US and FINRA regulated securities, but other countries have similar rules in place. You can look it up, it’s called the LULD (Limit Up/Limit Down) Rules, basically there are these bands, typically 5-10%, and if the stock goes above or below those bands and stays above it for over 15 seconds, a 5 minute halt is placed on it. There are 3 tiers of halts and follow these rules: Tier 1- (7% drop) halts trading for 15 minutes if it happens before 3:25 PM ET, Tier 2- (13% drop) halts trading for another 15 minutes if before 3:25 PM ET, Tier 3- (20% drop) all trading is halted for the rest of the day.

Based. Fat red candles, glorious and beautiful. One or two more and we’re backing up the truck on DRAM.

The Korean stock market of today is just like the Vienna stock market of the early 1870's.

Love how in Asia green means drop 🤣. Honestly I think they get the colour simple because is the most common. After housing crash Nikkei needed 30y despite all inflation to breakeven
