Ever see 1996’s The Arrival with Charlie Sheen?

This is one of the aliens from that movie.

Oh shit that's the name of that movie! I've had faint memories of watching that as a kid haha

3

u/mabrasm 1h ago

The movie that tried to convince people that Charlie Sheen was a hot dude. He's shirtless in that flick for a third of the runtime.

7

u/Ajj360 1h ago

Is he not?

2

u/mabrasm 1h ago

I'm not making a judgement one way or the other, I'm just pointing out that that movie had him shirtless a lot more than he needed to be.

My parents were watching this at home when I was maybe age 5 or 6 asleep on the couch. I woke up during this scene, precisely at this moment, silently freaked the fuck out, eyes peeled for a few seconds, then went back to sleep. I never got around to watching the whole film, very unfortunate. Core memory unlocked.

sheet that's what I think of when I see those leg press fails.

3

u/itzpea 1h ago

DUDE. I was 6 when this came out and I have had this memory of some weird alien with backward legs my whole life. I've had no idea where it came from or if it was a dream I had or something. THIS IS IT!

My knees hurt just watching this

7

u/ohaitharr 1h ago

I wish I knew how bad this was before my 30s 😭

Hypermobility, more common than y’all think

23

u/BasKabelas 1h ago

Especially with elbows! I only have it very slightly in my knees and find it super uncomfortable.

10

u/64557175 27m ago

And if you have it you should learn how it may be affecting the rest of your body because often it's not just limited to cartilage and can cause serious issues over time.

8

u/Lt-Dan-Im-Rollin 26m ago

Most hyprmobility isn’t to this extreme though. This is insane levels of knee hyper mobility

2

u/GossipingKitty 10m ago

Mine are like this. I have Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (hEDs).

3

u/aDildoAteMyBaby 1h ago

I have to be careful because it's an easy way to trigger a bad Charlie horse.

1

u/Parishdise 0m ago

I have hypermobile arms. A lot of people do in fact! It's fun to bond over.

Less fun that theyre so hyper extended, I literally have to intentionally try and have someone tell me if I'm doing it right if I want my arms to be actually straight for something. It just feels so much like theyre bent (forward) and I think my pov just doesn't recognize the apropriate bend/ angle when looking down at my elbows bc I'm not used to it

My knees hurt watching this.

6

u/Balloon_Fan 1h ago

As someone *without* hypermobility the most painful injury of my life was having one of my knees bend like this...

1

u/-HowAboutNo- 46m ago

Yikes that must have been horrible

2

u/Balloon_Fan 17m ago

It was. Took over 6 months before I could use my leg properly, and my acl went bye-bye and my mcl was partially torn off its attachment points. There's a lot of stuff I can't do after that, but since one of those activities was spelunking, maybe that injury saved my life...

She's hypermobile. I'm the same although my knees don't go that far back.

14

u/KNOWFEAR1337 1h ago

Is that an ATST ?

10

u/Literally_Laura 1h ago edited 1h ago

I’ve seen this before.

My questions are if they maintain this posture is it equivalent to locking one’s knees and would they eventually faint?

5

u/mitchstanton 1h ago

My wife's knees do this too. Nothing but a regular day for me! LOL

3

u/psychwarfare 1h ago

Is this why I was told not to lock my knees when standing still?

7

u/LilDutchy 1h ago

Well no, it’s because you will pass out. Unless you’re hypermobile, this won’t happen to you

u/Zaruma 1h ago

3

u/dr_strange-love 1h ago

Blazucchi: You sure about these chairs? Guidebook says human legs bend down at knee.

Blek: It's OK, Mama. Anyone complains, I bend legs up for free.

3

u/dieselmac 1h ago

“Uh, excuse me ma’am, I think your legs are on backwards. “

5

u/BDK235 1h ago

I stand like this too. Not sure why, but I’ve been doing it for 30-40 years.

6

u/RoutineHighway66 1h ago

I have HEDS and mine do that if I'm not careful. Sometimes they get stuck. It's not great.

1

u/BDK235 36m ago

oh man, i don't know what that is butt it doesn't sound fun if you're getting locked up. Sorry you gotta deal with that, homie.

2

u/Sabithomega 1h ago

2

u/Dependent-Purple9736 1h ago

1

u/toe_riffic 57m ago

I was so confused at first. My brain didn’t register the first pose, so the rest of the video I was waiting for something wild to happen, like dude pissing or something. When she did the second pose it was like a jump scare to me and I physically reacted haha.

u/RadioRoyGBiv 55m ago

1

u/beemer87 45m ago

I'm hyper mobile but my knees don't go quite that far back. I never understood why people tell you not to lock your knees.

-1

u/aDildoAteMyBaby 1h ago

Filming strangers in public while they're minding their own business and posting it for the karma? Yeah, that's a WTF for me, dog.
